Generally speaking: Only Relational data consumption is available in Dashboards 4.0
No support for DSL (OLAP.unx or ‘transient’ BICS universe) - No hierarchy support currently.
Multi-Source universes are not recommended (performance)
For SAP-data: Relational (sql-based) universes to NW BW are OK;
WebI ‘BI Services’ pointing to OLAP .wid report is OK. (n.b. *caveats for BI Services* - “per-user” caching does not share results across user sessions, needs Instances, Bound to spreadsheet)
Existing “SAP NetWeaver BW Connection” Xcelsius connector does use BICS interface, but differs from the rest of the BI 4.0 suite as these BEx connections are not managed by IDT or CMC... Also, has to be published through Java Stack to the NetWeaver Enterprise Portal, as per 2008. (not to BILaunchPad or BIWorkspace)
Above BOE BICS/BEX limitation is under review for 4.1
Hierarchy support (table component and input selector) planned for 4.1.
BOE-BICS Dashboards in 4.1 will leverage back-end processing servers
Unchanged: No scheduling of QaaWS (always live or cached data)
Deprecation of QaaWS announcement planned (to be superseded by CSL universe panel)
LiveOffice still good for CR .rep pointing to R/3 (EC6) ERP + Scheduling instances (inc WebI)
