Configuring PLM Screen

TRANSCRIPT

  • SAP Note

    Header Data

    Symptom

The Fast Entry Screen (FES) displays user interface variants for specification management in PLM Web User Interface (Web UI). These variants allow occasional users to create, display, and edit specifications on a user interface that contains only a defined selection of data. This SAP Note provides a step-by-step guide on how to configure an FES variant.

    Other Terms

Fast Entry Screen, FES, Specification, PLM, PLM Web UI, variant

    Reason and Prerequisites

You can define the content of an FES variant by selecting specification properties and other specification attributes. SAP recommends that this task is executed by administrators only.

    Solution

You can configure the FES only if you have developer rights and the FPM_CONFIG_EXPERT parameter is set for your user. You can make this setting as follows:

    1. Select System -> User profile -> Own Data in SAP GUI.

    2. Select the Parameters subview.

    3. Enter "X" to the cell in the FPM_CONFIG_EXPERT row and Parameter Value column.

Opening the Configuration Editor for Floor Plan Manager to Configure the FES

The Configuration Editor for Floor Plan Manager is used to configure the Fast Entry Screen. Note: Not all the standard functionality of the Configuration Editor for the Floor Plan Manager also applies to the Fast Entry Screen Configuration. This is why you are asked to follow this guide when configuring a Fast Entry Screen. You can open the Configuration Editor for Floor Plan Manager in two ways:

From the SAP Easy Access menu, by selecting Create Specification through Fast Entry Screen and there the Configure Page icon.

From the ABAP Workbench Object Navigator (TA SE80), using the following procedure:

    a) In the Repository Browser, select Package and /PLMU/UI_SPC_FES as a package.

    b) Select Web Dynpro -> Application Configuration -> /PLMU/WDA_SPC_FES_OIF or /PLMU/WDA_SPC_FES_GAF.

    c) Select Start Configurator.

    d) Select Continue in Change Mode.

    e) Select the link to the configuration.

What you see in the hierarchy of the FPM Configuration Editor (Editor for the Web Dynpro ABAP Component Configuration)depends on the type of Floorplan instance you are using:

    1. In an Object Instance Floorplan (OIF), UIBBs are displayed in multiple tabs within the Content Area.

    2. In a Guided Activity Floorplan (GAF), UIBBs are displayed as individual steps in the overall

  • roadmap. If you want to use GAF, it is important to redefine the Application Configuration Controller (APPCC) and its methods. (For example: set_idr, set_title).

    Creating New Variants

To create a new variant of the Fast Entry Screen, do the following:

    1. In the navigation panel, select New -> Variant. If the navigation panel is not displayed, press the Navigation button.

    2. Enter an ID and a name for your variant.

    3. Use Toolbar Schema view -> Toolbar Elements to define the toolbar elements Read Only, Change, Save, and their attributes. Enter FES_SAVE as the Element ID attribute of the Save toolbar element.

    4. Save your entries.

Note: Closing the Preview panel on this page provides more working space in the Configurator. To see the preview of your variant, set it (temporarily) as default in the Navigation panel.

Adding New Components to an FES Variant

    1. In the UIBB menu of the Object Instance Schema subview, do one of the following:

l To add a list, select List Component

l To add a form, an explanation text or an empty line, select Form Component and choose from the following:

To add a form, replace the component type FPM_FORM_UIBB_GL2 with FPM_FORM_UIBB in the Attributes field group.

To add an explanation text or an empty line, leave the component type as FPM_FORM_UIBB_GL2 (the default value)

    2. Enter a configuration name using, for example, the /PLMU/WDC_SPC_FES_..._CFG name structure.

    3. Save your new configuration, select it, and choose the Configure UIBB button.

Note: A message will inform you that the configuration does not exist. Ignore it and continue with the next step.

    4. Select New and enter a description in the dialog box that appears.

    5. Select a package (if you want it to be transported to the productive system) or click Local Object (for test purposes only).

    6. Choose a feeder class (use F4 and there *SPC_FES* as a search term). The content of the list you can choose from depends on the component type you selected.

    7. Return to the Configurator by selecting the configuration name, in this case /PLMU/WDC_SPC_FES_OIF_CFG.

    Adding a List

    1. Choose from the following feeder classes:

/PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_LI_GEN: Feeder class for lists on the General Data tab (material assignment, identifier, and status). References and relationships are not part of the general data set on FES.

/PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_LI_STATIC: Feeder class for static lists of properties (such as composition, specification listing, nutrient composition, diet suitability, and user-defined text)

/PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_LI_VALUE: Feeder class that allows the maintenance of several instances of one usage of a property

    2. Enter the required values for the selected feeder class. Choose from the following:

Number of default rows - Only the *STATIC and *LI_GEN feeder classes have this parameter listed. For those classes, however, it is a mandatory parameter.

Data origin - Only the *STATIC and *LI_GEN feeder classes have this parameter listed. Select the source of your data from the following options:

l For *LI_GEN: Identifiers, status and material assignment

l For *STATIC: Standard composition, listing, qualitative or quantitative data, or user-defined text

Value assignment type - Use the Description of Value Assignment Type field to search for the property you want to include.

  • Note: This search field is case-sensitive.

Usage - Define usage by setting the rating and the validity area, or by entering a usage string. A usage string is part of the notation used in the substance workbench on value assignment tab of properties within the property tree.

    Example: INTERNAL: REG_WORLD PUBLIC: REG_EU / (FR) / (DE)

Quantitative/qualitative group - Only the *STATIC feeder class has this parameter listed. Select a nutrient group, allergen group, religious certificate group, genetically modified substance group, or a diet group here if you want to show a value assignment type of value assignment category RMS_D or RMS_N with the FES.

Note: For the *LI_GEN feeder class, only the number of default rows and the data origin are listed as parameters.

    3. Define the layout of your list in the List UIBB Schema view.

    a) Enter a title in the Additional Settings panel of the Configurator. This title will appear above your list in FES.

    b) Choose Column, and select the headings for the columns you want to include in your list. You can select more than one element by pressing the Ctrl key.

    c) Add further details in the Attributes panel (select the Attributes button if the panel is not visible) and in the List UIBB Schema view. For example, you can overwrite the displayed column headings by changing the attribute Header.

    d) Use Toolbar Elements of the Toolbar Schema view to define the toolbar elements for your list (such as Delete, Insert, or Overwrite), and their attributes.

    Adding a Form

    1. Choose from the following feeder classes:

l PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_BAS: Feeder class for data on Basic Data tab of Specification Web.

l IPLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_INT: Feeder class for the Initial Screen; SAP does not recommend using this class.

l PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_USG_SEL: Feeder class for the Usage Selector - Select it to provide usages for property instances in case usage or rating and validity area are not defined.

l PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_VALUE: Feeder class for Single/Multi Value Characteristics - Select it if you want to include properties with value characteristics (such as density).

l PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_VARIANT: Feeder class for variants of the Initial Screen, SAP does not recommend using this class.

    2. Edit the relevant parameters for the selected feeder class:

l Value assignment type - Use the Description of Value Assignment Type field to search for the property you want to include.

l Usage - Define it by setting the rating and the validity area, or by entering a usage string.

Note: If you do not enter any data here, the default usage is applied. You can later check the feeder class and its parameters in the General Settings subview, but you cannot change the feeder class once it is set.

    3. Define the layout of your form in the Form UIBB Schema view:

    a) Select Element ->Add Group.

    b) Enter a group title for the field group.

    c) Select Elements -> Add Element to Next Level to define the fields in the field group, and limit them to only those that are relevant to your user group. You can select more than one element by pressing the Ctrl key.

Note:Not all fields can be added. See Table 1 for the list of prohibited fields.

    4. Add further details by selecting an element and clicking Attributes. For example, you can overwrite the displayed field label by changing the attribute Label.

    Adding an Explanation Text

You can attach explanation texts to various parts of an FES variant as follows:

    1. Add a Form Component to the variant as described above (type FPM_FORM_UIBB_GL2).

    2. Choose the feeder class PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_BAS.

  • 3. Define the content and position of the explanation text in the Form UIBB Schema view:

    4. Select Element -> Add Group.

    a) Enter a title for the explanation (such as Note:) into the Text field.

    b) Define the start and end position of the title with the help of the numbers and letters marking the rows and columns in the grid.

    c) Select Element -> Add Element to Next Level.

    d) Select Formatted Text View in the Add Fields window.

    e) Enter the explanation text into the Text field.

    f) Define the start and end position of the explanation text with the help of the numbers and letters marking the rows and columns in the grid.

    g) Make sure you do not change the following default settings for the attributes:

Label Visibility is 'Is Not Visible'.

Display Type is 'Formatted Text View'.

You can enter explanation texts in a second language as follows:

    1. Open the relevant SAP system in the second language.

    2. Open the relevant FES variant in Edit mode.

    3. Overwrite the text that you entered in the first language.

    Adding an Empty Line

You can use the following workaround to add spacers to an FES variant for design purposes:

    1. Add a Form Component to the variant as described above (type FPM_FORM_UIBB_GL2).

    2. Choose the feeder class PLMU/CL_SPC_FES_FD_BAS.

    3. Select Elements -> Add Element to Current Level.

    4. Select Text View in the Add Fields window.

    5. Leave the Text field empty.

    6. Make sure you do not change the following default settings for the attributes:

Label Visibility is 'Is Not Visible'.

    Display Type is 'Text View'.

This way you create an empty text line that looks like a spacer in the FES layout.

    Changing the Order of UIBBs

To rearrange the UIBBs you selected for your FES variant, add the Sequence Index column to the Object Instance Schema of the Configurator, and in this column change the ordering numbers of the UIBBs as you wish. To add this column, select the Personalize icon, choose Sequence Index on the list of available columns, and add it to the list of displayed columns. However, when working with a small number of UIBBs, you can also rearrange them by drag-and-drop.

Providing Direct Access to an FES Variant

As an administrator, you can enable users to open specific FES variants without them having to enter parameters on the initial screen. To do so, you must add the VARIANT or KEYDATE parameters to the following customizing activities:

l Logistics - General -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> PLM Web User Interface -> Settings for BO Framework and Navigation -> BO Framework- > Define Application Building Blocks

l Logistics - General -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> PLM Web User Interface -> Settings for BO Framework and Navigation -> BO Framework > Define RFC Destinations

l Logistics - General -> Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) -> PLM Web User Interface -> Settings for BO Framework and Navigation -> BO Framework -> Assign Logical System to RFC Destination

After you make these settings, users can use a URL that takes them directly to a specification or variant. You can specify the specification or variant by adding its ID or Valid From date to the end of the URL. Examples:

    l (#)&SUBID=SEASALT

    l (#)&SUBID=SEASALT&VARIANT=SIMPLE

  • l (#)&SUBID=SEASALT&KEYDATE=24.05.2011

Note: URLs are case-sensitive in this case.

    Usages

The FES does not display value assignment instances that are not active. In the Change view of the IMG activity Specify Value Assignment Types, you can set the usage of a valuation instance to be deactivated after change by deselecting the checkbox Change Active. The FES does not take this customizing into account, since it only displays the instances of those value assignment types that have active usages: Prohibited fields available with the feeder classes mentioned above: ACTN ESTCAT DYNCOLS ACTN_VP FLG_INHEXCL FLG_INHOVR RECN RECNPARENT RECNROOT RECN_VP
