Lesson 6

God Protects marriage.

God made male and female. God created marriage as a blessing to people.

Ephesians 4:17 - 5:21

Definitions:Fornication: sexual relations between unmarried people. (Pre-marital sex and adultery is included).

Adultery: sexual relations with someone besides one’s spouse.

Homosexuality: Sexual relations with one of the same sex (Romans 1:24-27).

Pornography: writings, pictures, and other things intended to arouse sexual desire. (sexting is included).

Divorce: A legal seperation between married people.

Two situations in which God allows divorce:

1. Marital unfaithfulness

2. Abandonment

Some things to think about…

God protects: Our property

God owns everything I own and all things.

Psalm 24:1

God wants us to use our money and possessions…

1. To provide for our family.

2. To help those in need.

3. to thank and praise God by offering the best of our blessings from him for the work of sharing the Gospel.

A Christian will NOT want…

1. To be greedy

2. to be dishonest (including robbery, theft, cheating, fraud).

God protects: our name and reputation.

Sins against this commandment include:

Gossip, lies, slander, libel and maliciously betraying a confidence.

1 Peter 3:8-10

What will a Christian want to do instead?

Defend each other’s good name, speak well of others and view their actions in the best possible way.

God protects: us from sinning

Coveting leads to all other types of sin.
