The  Past  &  Present  of  the  Congo  Project  Overview    Project  Overview  During  this  project,  you  will  work  with  a  team  of  classmates  who  share  your  interest  in  a  self-­‐selected  topic  related  to  the  Congo.  As  a  team  you  will  be  formulating  questions,  completing  research,  writing  informative  essays,  creating  a  viral  awareness  campaign,  and  publishing  a  website.  Your  goal  will  be  explain  the  realities  of  life  in  the  DR  of  Congo  and  explain  the  historical  developments  that  led  to  them.    Phase  I:  Group  Research  

1. Formulate  Essential  Questions  (Level  1,  2,  &  3  Questions)  2. Use  online  research  and  materials  from  class  to  answer  your  questions.

1. Each  individual  will  write  an  informative  essay  related  to  your  topic.  Each  essay  in  your  group  will  be  unique.  

2. Group  editing  of  essays.    Phase  3:  Viral  Campaign  &  Website  

1. Using  information  from  your  research  and  essays,  create  a  website  designed  to  promote  awareness  about  your  selected  topic.    

a. Professionally  Formatted  Website  b. A  “What  You  Can  Do”  Section  which  includes  information  on  charities  

and  other  groups  already  working  on  your  topic  (if  they  exist).  2. Create  a  Viral  Social  Media  Campaign  designed  to  bring  attention  to  your
