Dear Parents/Carers,
We have been very busy over the last couple of months dealing with some extremely concerning social media issues.
A large group of senior girls has been involved in chat room
Instagram, Tic Tok, Snap Chat and Facebook using the most dreadful language and bullying others. Parents, it is your responsibility to monitor your child’s use of social media.
Congratulations to Teresa and her team for achieving 4 star accreditation for 4 years in a row and this year receiving, for the first time ever, 5 stars!
This means our school provides and promotes healthy choices in the canteen and 94% of sales are from nutritious and delicious foods. This
is important as it means our school canteen is:
Committed to improving students’ health
Planning a menu which is categorised as Green e.g. fruit, vegetables, sandwiches, soup, pizza, popcorn, picklets and water
Educating students, parents and staff about healthy food choices
Leading and motivating other schools to achieve StarCAP2 accreditation.
Well done to the team at Swan View Primary School, especially Canteen Supervisor, Teresa Elzer. It’s your support that makes the canteen a success!. We encourage you to visit or email the canteen and provide feedback about menu items, ideas for special events and new recipes for the canteen to trial. [email protected].
Congratulations
It was wonderful to receive 5 Star Accreditation from the WA School Canteen Association. I love what I do, I enjoy getting creative with promotions and food, getting students to try new foods, meeting new people to volunteer. The student make canteen management rewarding and I’d like to thank the School Community for your support. Teresa Elzer

Spelling Bee
Recently our school attended the Spelling Bee Competition held at Clayton View Primary School.
Congratulations to all the students who
were invited to attend:
Sasha Grant, Ella and Lily Detloff, Tenaya Humphries, Ethan Clinch, Lana Hull, Lilo Kaub, Tristan Rubio, Maddy Melvin and Mia Tims-Blacklock.
Once again, our children represented our school with excellent manners and presentation. Their efforts on the day were wonderful.
Special Congratulations to Maddy Melvin, who came Runner-up for the Year 5/6 group.
Thank you to the students and parents who made the Active Transport Day on Friday 15 November a success on what was a very warm day. It was great to see some walking busses set up and some more bikes in the bike racks.
The “Faction Action “walking/ running in the morning before school from 8.15 to 8.30 is being very well supported, with well over 20 motivated regulars making a great start to their day, increasing their fitness levels all whilst earning faction points. Over 600 km has been run around the oval so far this term. Thank you to the Swan View IGA for the donation of some caps for the participants.
I have re-ignited the schools focus on recycling and I would like to remind everyone that the school is a collection point for dry cell/household batteries, bottle tops, aluminium
cans and bread tags.

White Ribbon Day
activities in B4.
The students had to write each of their
spelling words outside on the
path using chalk.
Here the students explore the number of dominoes required to cover a rectangle. Four dominoes designs are presented to the kids with different orientation. The children soon realise that the same number of dominoes will be used regardless of orientation.

Once again this year our school is participating in Jump Rope for Heart– a fantastic physical activity and fundraising program by the Heart Foundation.
Jump Rope for Heart is a great way for your child to keep fit and learn new skills but it also helps raise funds for vital heart research and education programs.
SVSHS is an independent Public School that has seen significant improvement in outcomes over the last five years. Swan View SH School’s future is strong. We are a proudly independent school “going from strength to strength”. As part of your transition to high school, I am delighted to invite the future Year 7’s to our school on THURSDAY 5 December 2019 for your Orientation Day. Please arrive by 8.30am and assemble at the front of the school where you will be met by Ms Scriven (Deputy Principal), Ms Bradley (Transition Coordinator) and other staff. The whole school assembly will be held from 8.50 to 9.45am in which you will be welcomed to the school and gain a deeper understanding regarding the protocols of high school life. Parents, caregivers and other family members are highly encouraged to attend the assembly. A morning tea will be held in the library after assembly where parents and caregivers can meet each other and outside agencies that can answer any questions.

FREE SUSHI MAKING LESSONS
Wednesdays– call in to book a time. Rene and Ofa were the first to take part in sushi making lessons. Ofa prepared carrots, cucumbers, marinated chicken and seasoned rice. They were shown how to roll the first sushi and away they went! Each roll was good and the sushi cut and presented beautifully. Thank you for your participation.
Year 6 Graduation
We will be holding a Christmas Concert on the 6 December at the grassed area near the Dental unit. There is more shade available, it is closer to toilets and drink fountains. And away from the distraction of playgrounds.
There will be a sausage sizzle held by the P & C Association on the grassed area near the main oval gates.
The canteen will be selling hot and cold drinks.
Sandy Higgins, ‘My Waffle World’ will again have the ice cream van for purchasing yummy treats.
The P & C will hold a poster competition advertising this event and will award a prize for the winning entry.
Parking will be available on the main oval.
A power point presentation will be shown during the graduation ceremony. On each slide, the year 6 students name and two photos will be shown.
We will require a baby/toddler photo and a re-cent photo of your child for the presentation.
The photos can be dropped off to the office, or alternatively, you can email them .
