At Linus Moran Photography, we all share the same creative ethos – to capture your wedding day in a natural way by working around you and the flow of the occasion.

Oana – a real asset to the team. Based in Bournemouth, Oana has worked with us for over two years, first shooting alongside Linus as a second photographer.

Gaining experience and having the freedom to get creative, last year saw her shooting weddings as a lead photographer producing some of her best work to date!

Booking Oana for one of the associate collections will assure you outstanding, creative wedding photography together with a great service.

Chris – a great friend for the last 15 years and fellow lead photographer, having first met Linus when working on competing Fleet Street titles. Chris has extensive experience as an international photojournalist. A brief spell in New Zealand as photographer and then picture editor for the New Zealand Herald. A great eye for composition and winning images, Chris brings a wealth of knowledge to the team, in turn, benefiting all our clients.

Your assigned photographer will be confirmed at least six weeks before your wedding date, (either Linus, Chris or Oana) allowing you to discuss your details directly – whether it be the group shots, timings, locations or other important factors.

Bridal preparations

Some brides to be think that this isn’t such an important part of the day to cover. We as experienced professionals beg to disagree.

Bridal preparations aren’t just about the bride – they are the scene-setting pictures. They are a chance to capture everyone slowly building-up to the main performance if you like. The opportunity to capture detail shots, but also the time to capture the bridesmaids enjoying a Bucks Fizz with the bride, a chance to capture your grandmother doting over the page boy, or a dad rehearsing his speech, and, of course you – the bride-to-be, having hair and make up applied, slipping into the dress and being attended to by your bridesmaids.

This scene setting opportunity often provides stunning images that will certainly grace the pages of your wedding album, and most importantly give you that all important chance to relax in front of the camera.

The ceremony

We take it for granted you’re going to want some shots of the actual event. Whether it be a church or civil ceremony, we work without using flash, and can work with silent camera shutters, so even the most intimate ceremony can be captured respectfully without anyone being distracted from the beauty of the day.

As well as capturing shots of your guests arriving and the groom’s party getting nervous, ceremony coverage also includes the period straight after – to capture those special moments when your guests offer their congratulations.

Formal photography

We prefer to take a relaxed approach to our wedding photography but if you want group shots of your family and friends this normally takes place shortly after the ceremony.

We recommend allocating 30 minutes for this. Normally taking up to 10 group shots, starting first with the main group and then concentrating on the smaller groups. This way, no one drifts off back to the reception avoiding the photo, whilst also ensuing that everyone enjoys the day and doesn’t have to hang around waiting for the photographer.

Location shoot

Those romantic, stylish shots of just the two of you. We try and time this when the light is at its best, so if possible, we travel to a location of your choice after your afternoon reception (in the lull before your evening starts).

From this shoot we will capture the showcase shots. This photoshoot is always loads of fun and it’s also a chance to have a breather –away from your wedding party. If your day is a little shorter, we can sometimes fit this in en route to your reception, or you can arrange a separate location shoot for after your wedding day.

Early reception and speeches

Relaxed party shots at the start of your reception. If you are having a sit-down meal we will be able to take shots of your tables and table settings as well as the cake.

The speeches (before or after your meal) are another huge part of many weddings. Often a time when raw emotion is openly shared between a father and his daughter, or a mother and her son. It’s the time for the handkerchiefs to come out, lumps in the throat and rapturous laughter!

Obviously a golden opportunity to catch stunning images packed with emotion, not just between individuals but also the reaction amongst your guests.

Full reception (until first dance)

As well as the early reception and speeches we will make sure we document your evening party in its full swing.

Whether you have a disco, a band or any other form of entertainment we tend to stay until around 9pm and make sure we get all those fun moments such as the first dance.

If you didn’t want formal photography earlier on in the day we can shoot groups shots of friends or family off-the-cuff in this time.

Before we wrap up our coverage for the day, we always say our goodbyes and check if there is anything else needed.

We feel that after the main first dance photos have been done, there is little more for us to do. Having captured all the key moments through out the day, safe in the knowledge that we have a strong body of work from which to create a stunning visual story board of your day.

From this point onwards its over to your guests and their iPhones, with the alcohol flowing and the party in full swing – we could say ‘the best has been captured’.

I’ve been surprised when looking at all the ex-penses, and I certainly know how it all adds up. I can also see as a wedding photographer how some people may be inclined to cut corners when it comes to the wedding photography.

But the truth is – it’s the wedding photography that will be the only lasting prestige item that lasts, whether it be decades or generations.

The beautiful images that you so dearly want, do not have to be compromised, nor do you have to wait some time to be able to afford the stunning bespoke wedding album you have always wanted.

If you have a new home, with some blank walls awaiting your wedding day artwork to adorn them – You can have it ALL!

We value our work and your wedding day lega-cy. We only supply the best products available, only choosing to work with two prestige wed-ding album suppliers, Queensberry and Folio.

These books are priced according to their deserved high end market status. The time and work we put into creating them is the same as for any book, but why would we waste our time on anything else but the best?

We want our work to stand the test of time and be as attractive now as in 30-50 years.

Setting up a wedding list

It’s simple. Just us know the items you deem as important to your day, whether it be a second photographer, a Folio 12x 12” leather bound fine art album, a panoramic acrylic or two, or an engagement shoot and we will set up your own exclusive wedding list.

You can access it at anytime to see who and what has been contributed and come your wedding day, the funds will pay for your chosen products.

In theory, after signing your wedding contract with us and paying a small retainer, you could opt for the entire wedding day photography to be part of your list.

That way, you get the photography you really want, and keep away from pointless gift vouch-ers and unwanted kitchen appliances!

Our albums

We offer all of our clients a wide range of photo books and albums, having been carefully selected to suit a range of budgets and tastes. From Queensberry (the worlds best) through to handmade British luxury leather albums by Folio, each book designed to be as individual as yourself.

Choose between the modern, stylish albums with a choice of covers from embossed or engraved leathers, silks or canvas to the traditional luxury albums with bevel cut window mounts.

Albums prices start at £450 with choices for duplicate or miniature copies being the perfect thank you gift!

Q. How much is the booking fee and when is the final total due?

A. Our booking fee is £250 – this goes against the final payment of your day. The final amount is due one calendar month before your wedding.

Q. How long will it be before we get to see our pictures?

A. A small number of taster images will be available to view online within 3 days, keeping the excitement up in anticipation of seeing the complete set. We aim to have the complete edit finished and ready within 2–3 weeks after your wedding.

Q. Do you have public liability insurance?

A. Yes – feel free to get in touch if your venue requires a copy of our certificate.

Q. We want a package but we don’t need everything included. Can we get a discount?

A. Our packages are carefully compiled and heavily discounted – we cannot offer a discount upon a discount. Instead, you can order the Organic collection and add on items from the ‘À la carte’ price list. Please ask for a quote if you have a specific request.

Q. Do you shoot outside of Dorset?

A. Absolutely. For shoots further than 50 miles from Dorchester we may charge mileage or extra accommodation, but we are always willing to travel. For weddings abroad there will be an additional cost to cover our flights.

Q. Why is wedding photography so expensive? It’s just one day!

A. Believe us – shooting the pictures on the day is the easy bit! As well as providing a photographer for the actual day, we put in a lot of time before and after your wedding. We don’t just shoot and burn photos straight-to-disc, and the price reflects all the preparation, liaison and post-production work needed to ensure your final package is as good as it can possibly be. To ensure we can devote as much time as possible to each of our clients we only accept a maximum of 25 weddings in one year. We never shoot more than one wedding in a day, and we set aside a weekend off every month to keep waiting times down and energy levels up!

Q. Do you offer mid-week wedding photography discounts ?

A. Yes, we do offer mid-week wedding photography discounts. Options are available for weddings on Monday – Thursday (except bank holidays). We offer a 10% discount on all collections. All our services are flexible, and can be modified around any requirements you may have. If you do not see something exactly to your requirements here, please call or email to discuss further. We pride ourselves with being able to offer something to suit most people at a price to suit your budget.

Q. What makes you different from other wedding photographers ?

A. We are passionate about our art form. In capturing a truthful and artistic representation of your wedding day, we hope to immediately bring you back, along with others, to that mo-ment of emotional connection captured within the photographs.

Weddings are our passion and we are full time professional photographers giving each wed-ding 100% of our time and attention.

In delivering truly professional results a finished set of wedding photos can take up to a week of our time. It is not just a matter of shooting your day and then handing responsibility elsewhere. We personally oversee every stage from editing, colour correction and retouching, design and album layout. We also personally inspect every finished album for quality before presenting to the client.

Q. How would you document my wedding day ?

A. We would start with the bridal preparations (and those of the groom if preparations are to take place in close proximity) before proceeding to the marriage venue to record the build-up to and the ceremony itself.

A short period after the ceremony we might take a small number of posed group shots to provide you with a clear, relaxed and high quality record of how your nearest and dearest looked when they came together to celebrate your union. We would then continue to docu-ment your wedding day as it proceeds through the various stages you have so carefully planned, including the reception, the wedding breakfast, the speeches and all the other intrin-sic aspects of that special day as they occur at their natural pace.

We do not direct any part of your day for the purpose of my photography. To do so would result in a false documentation of your wedding day and the photographs would then become our perception of your wedding rather than a record of ‘your’ day and the way you meant it to be. For a short period around sunset we would hope to have some time with you for a small series of portraits when the days light is at its very best. We will then continue to docu-ment the celebrations as they continue into the night.

Q. Can you provide additional coverage?

A. Yes, we can arrange a pre-wedding shoot which gives you a chance to get used to being in front of the camera so you’re a ‘pro’ come your wedding day. Its also an opportunity to celebrate your engagement with some romantic, fun and creative photographs on location. These images will be available to be used in any wedding stationary and one image can be supplied mounted and displayed at your reception as a signing board for your guests to leave their congratulations.

Q. Do you require feeding on the day?

A: Yes please, our clients provide food as provided to their guests. Keeping the energy levels up and the mind sharp is everything in successfully capturing the wedding day story. It is appreciated for you to instruct your caterers to feed us at the same time as your own top table. That way, we get the chance to digest and be ready for the start of the speeches and pictures to reconvene.
