CONFIRMATION SUNDAYAPRIL 25

One of the most moving and hope- filled days of the year is our Confirmation

Sunday, April 25th when we confirm our twenty-five 6th graders. They will have finished the 13 weeks of studies and will have chosen for themselves this important step of faith. Don’t miss this very meaningful 11:00 worship service.

The word confirmation means “with

firmness”. Confirmation seeks to make firm what has gone before. It is closely linked to & dependent upon all that has taken place in the individual’s life already, including god’s prevenient grace, the sacrament of baptism, the Christian nurture provided by parents and the faith community, and the ongoing activity of God’s spirit.

In order to empower & enable young persons to respond to God’s call in faith, confirmation education has two focal points: information & formation. Confirmation includes an age-appropriate & systematic overview of the Christian faith,

including our identity, Scripture, history & heritage, practices, beliefs, & commitments as United Methodist Christians.

Being formed into the image of Christ takes time & experiences, not just information. Confirmation provides safe & loving environment in which young persons can explore the faith & experience it through Christian community, relationships, spiritual disciplines, service, and other activities.

Please join us on the journey,

SUNDAY SCHOOLAll of the children had a great time placing items on the Lenten Tree. What a surprise they had on Easter morning

when everything was gone and the tree was covered with white butterflies!

In Sunday School we will be studying Luke and Acts for the next two months. We will learn about new life after Easter and who Paul is. Look over your children’s take home sheets and talk to them about all the great things they are learning!

JAM NEWS:We have been keeping our JAM group very busy. Each week they have a bible memory verse. If they remember the verse at the end of the night they get a treat. Help make sure your children are keeping their cards together on the ring. If your child did not get a ring be sure to let us know.

Jam is quickly coming to a close for summer break. Here is the schedule:

10 A.M. ADULT SUNDAY

MORNING OPPORTUNITIES:HAVING A RELIGIOUS EXPERIENCE

Somehow I feel sure that the most direct route to religious experience is to ask for the grace to give, to share, to console another, to bandage a hurting wound, to lift a fallen human spirit, to mend a quarrel, to search out a forgotten friend, to dismiss a suspicion and replace it with trust, to encourage someone who has lost faith, to let someone who feels helpless do a favor for me, to keep a promise, to bury an old grudge, to reduce my demands on others, to fight for a principle, to express gratitude, to

overcome a fear, to appreciate the beauty of nature, to tell others I love them, and then to tell them again.
