We are proud to congratulate the following Futures Academy of Health Sci-ence students on receiving their Associ-ate’s degree from Houston Community College last weekend. Through a collabo-ration with Houston Community College, these Westside students completed extra after-school and summer classes during their sophomore and junior years and
earned dual high school and college cred-its in many of their courses.
This special program is designed to expand college and career readiness op-tions for our students, and offers enrich-ment opportunities as they prepare for Health Science careers. The program is coordinated by Dean Stephanie Matlock.

End of Year Mini-Parade for CBVI Students & Partners
In lieu of their beloved annual luncheon and award ceremony, Westside’s Community Based Voca-tional Instruction (CBVI) coordinator, Mrs. Sylvia Romo, and her colleague, Ms. Mollet, organized an end-of-year mini-parade for their students and community partners. Mrs. Romo and Ms. Mollet sur-prised students at their homes to cele-brate their hard work this year and to congratulate those moving on to tran-sition programs next year. The caravan also stopped by area businesses to thank some of their community partners for hosting CBVI student training at their sites. Way to go, students! And spe-cial thanks to our local businesses for their continued support of this awe-some program, including Kroger, Pot-belly, Chick-Fil-A and TJ Maxx! Kudos to Mrs. Romo and Ms. Mollet for creating a socially-distanced event to recognize Westside’s CBVI students.
