Minyans for Yahrzeits The temple building is closed and there is no minyan in the synagogue, but there is a virtual minyan every Sunday morning. It is easy to attend; the link is the same every Sunday and Phyllis also includes it in the weekly congregation newsletter. While there is a robust attendance at the Friday evening Zoom service, we are getting fewer people than we were getting before the temple building closed. I request that every regular congregant (and others) try to attend the Sunday minyan at least once a month. Many congregants attend every week, but some regulars barely make it once a month. We have people saying Kaddish and we need a minyan for that. My request is directed to those that attend only when they have yahrzeit (and who expect a minyan) . Perhaps they can "pay" for this privilege by coming an extra day for each yahrzeit when they do not have their own. This assures that we will always have a minyan. It is not too much to do, and this way everyone can have the comfort they need. Also, with Zoom, it is pretty easy - there is no travel time. Please Read This if you "Don't do Zoom" A few people I called told me, "I don't do Zoom; I am too old". That is not a valid excuse. We have people in their late 80s attending Zoom services and Rabbi Mishkin's Zoom classes. If you call Ed he can walk you through Zoom, over the phone, in about 12 minutes. This works. Call Ed at 732 890 3344. He will be happy to help you. Minyans sans Bagels Obviously, we cannot provide bagels, but you can get your own bagels and enjoy them right after the Sunday minyan. Since you are at home, you can even toast them.
