WHAT IS CONGRUENCY?

If two things are congruent, then they are

the… Same size

Same shape

Two shapes that are congruent are

identical.

TAKE A LOOK!

WHAT HAPPENS IF THEY HAVE THE SAME SIZE, BUT NOT THE SAME SHAPE?

THEY ARE SIMILAR! What does that mean?

Resembling without being identical is what the dictionary says

What does it mean with shapes? They have the same shape, but not the same

size.

LETS GO ON A SCAVENGER HUNT! Directions:

Get into groups of three (There might be one group of four). Select one member from the group to come see me. Once a shape has been assigned to your group you will begin to

explore the classroom looking for a cut out with your team’s shape or color (HINT: There will be six shapes you will find).

Once you find all of the shapes, go back to your seats as a group. Take the shapes and sort them using the labels (Congruent, similar,

neither). Once you are finished raise your hand and I will come and check

your work.
