4 CONNECT MAGAZINE February 2015

This month we were delighted to catch up with well-known Kerry Photographer John Cleary. John has been a household name for over 50 years snapping happy and sometimes not so happy occasions, recently John along with his son Martin have launched a new website with thousands of

images and memories captured down the years throughout Kerry. It’s an amazing website and well worth a look. John you have been a household name in Kerry and beyond for many years as a photographer, when did you take your first photograph?

I started developing and printing at the age of 10 years so I guess it’s been a lifetime really, it all began in my mother’s kitchenette with her screaming over all the pans and chemicals spread over her table. It wasn’t a photographic image but it was worth persisting the love for it.

Your love of photography has taken you to meet many famous people and attended lots of events, any special memories stand out?

Photography has taken me all over Munster for Communion and

Confirmation portraits and covering 2,150 weddings over the years with my next in February. It’s nice to get to share these special moments with people and to be able to capture them

and pass them on to them for their own memories makes the job very enjoyable and satisfying.

You have just launched clearysphotoarchive.com which is just amazing, the thousands of photos from over the years, why did you decide now was the right time to do this?

Yes we have just launched www.clearyphotoarchive.com my son Martin is downloading the images onto this site with about 20,000 images to date, and with more than a half million

negatives to follow in family portraits, Holy Communion and Confirmation portraits and Press Pictures. We are delighted with the reaction to our images to date, the response has been amazing, I suppose as we are now in the age of digital it’s important to remember that the memories we build for our families and friends can made more memorable by having these images printed, it’s so easy to take pictures on our phones and

technical gadgets but always remember a picture on paper is worth so much more.

Can the general public purchase pictures from the archive as I am sure there are many out there that would love to?Oh of course they can, all details are on the website, the public can view or purchase any image from the site. There are many more images to be added daily but they can be viewed online or on our Facebook page too.

Finally John a lot of us would write ‘Photography’ as a hobby on our CV, what does John the Professional photographer do as a hobby?

My hobby is Photography and the different business established by this media, so I guess I live out the saying each day, it’s not a good day at work unless you enjoy what you do, and I enjoy taking photographs and all that is linked to it. I have always said ‘1 Photo is worth over 1000 words’

I love the Springtime. Not only because as soon the season begins I can officially begin my countdown until my birthday, but because Spring is so full of life.

I know that January is technically when our lives resume again, but Spring is when nature begins to come to life again. And, if you are being all technical about it, we are apart of nature, so it only makes sense that we should be able to feel an extra little kickstart when Spring begins.

Obviously, we live in a country where a lot of the time, you can’t really differentiate between the seasons, weather wise at least.

So it’s not like it is really a major wardrobe change or anything, but approach it as an attitude change.

It’s a positive time. It’s brighter. People’s conversations tend to drift from conversations about the weather, to the long conversations about the daffodils. Some people even decide to reduce the thickness of their black tights.

Spring tends to open peoples eyes a bit to what is going on around them. If you believe in the whole spring cleaning thing, then being able to see the floor of your room is also a very good sign.

Sometimes we need to make a clear out on our lives and if you were too busy setting resolutions and watching “My Year in Facebook” videos in January, then I think Spring is the perfect excuse for a kind of round two of a kickstart button.

While we are all embracing this restart, let’s all run around in our floral kimonos (I know florals for Spring, groundbreaking) and wield our umbrellas like nothing can stop us. I know that I am about to go all tumblr hipster on you right now, but you only live once. So go for it.

So, let’s all be these budding flowers together. Or something else that sounds poetic.

Until next month

As we all know a good band can make or break the wedding day and make it memorable for guests for all the wrong or

right reasons. We met up with Midnite Café who have been doing the wedding scene for many a year now. Can you give us a few tips on what makes a good wedding band?

When hiring a wedding band remember that if you want a truly successful event with a packed dance floor all night you need a band that is versatile! Of course you will want a band that can play some of your favourite songs and artists but you also want to entertain your guests…..don’t forget about the other guests in attendance. They don’t all have the same tastes as you. The band also needs to have a good sound.

Midnite Café have worked with brides and grooms for many years do you think this stands to you when meeting new couples, are you able to give them advice on the do’s and don’ts of good music for a wedding day success?

Yes, most definitely. The best advice we can give to brides and grooms is to go and see a few bands before they make up their minds and to ask a lot of questions on the type of music the band can and will play for their wedding, Think about the age group of your guests and ask the band can they cater for all ages. What is the secret of your own success as a group you’ve been together for a long time and still sound great, why is this?

We like working together and we are very good friends. We always have fun when we play together and enjoy the music we play. You are not only a wedding band really what other areas do you cover in the entertainment industry?

We play all over in bars and clubs. We do a lot of corporate events as well as weddings. Have you ever supported live bands or the likes at a big concert arena style? What are you most memorable moment as a band?

Yes in the past we have played support to the likes of Rod Stewart, Smokie, and Joe Dolan. We also had Robert Plant and Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin come on stage with us and do a forty five minute set. That was an awesome experience. What’s next for Midnight Café?

At moment we are in the studio rehearsing recording some new songs for our set and to put up on our website for people to listen to what we sound like

Now that Christmas has passed, people are keen to plan for the coming year. While some resolutions have been made (and some already broken),

many people are planning their summer holidays. Others are planning their weddings. For weddings and other special occasions, people want to look their best. With regard to dentistry, people should visit their dentist well in advance of their special day.

If you do not attend a dentist on a regular basis, you should get a full dental examination six months prior to your wedding. This allows enough time for any treatment to be carried out. Dentists are often visited by brides and grooms to be, just days before their wedding. This often means that the patient might be left disappointed if no ‘quick fix’ is available.

The full dental and oral examination will check for tooth decay, gum disease as well as cysts and mouth cancer. All brides and grooms want their teeth and gums to look their best on their wedding day. If gum disease is present, this would need to be treated immediately. Also, fillings can be done at a time that suits the patient. Once the mouth is determined healthy, the patient may like to whiten their teeth. This can be done in a number of ways.

The most common way to whiten teeth is with dental bleaching gel. This gel is purchased through a dentist. This is for patient safety, to stop gel with dangerous substances being used by people wanting to make a ‘fast-buck’. These gels can be used with specially made acrylic trays which can be worn over the teeth. They are left in for around two hours at a time and used over a number of days until the desired effect is achieved. Sensitive teeth cannot usually be whitened by this method, without triggering the sensitivity. It is, therefore important to treat sensitive teeth before starting tooth whitening.

If you need porcelain crowns to restore the shape of the teeth and/or the colour, then whitening should be completed at least three weeks beforehand. Crowns are artificial outer surfaces for teeth and they are glued onto teeth as a permanent fixture. A shade of porcelain must be picked to match the crowns with the colour of your existing teeth. If you want to whiten all teeth, do the whitening with gel first, and allow the colour to settle for three weeks. Then you can proceed onto crown work and match the colour of porcelain to your whitened teeth.

In a small number of cases, treatment may take longer than six months if orthodontists and/or other specialists are necessary. However, temporary arrangements can be made to have you looking your very best on your wedding day. Indeed, this is true for the whole wedding party.

To all brides and grooms, plan well in advance and as the seanfhocal says – Sliocht sleachta ar shliocht bhur sleachta! Go néirí bhur bpósadh libh!

Ciara O’Donnell PhotographerI consider myself very lucky to have had a great 16yr career in the Film & TV industry prior to moving to Kerry in 2013. It was a natural shift into photography full-time, as my camera was never far from my side. My training and experience has fed my ability to create interesting observational images that tell a story. Working on sets for TV and film sharpened my eye and fed my composition and colour skills on a daily basis.

Working as a photographer in a new town came with its challenges, but thankfully my friendly supportive Kerry clients have been on side from the get go. My clientele are building month on month, and word of mouth is helping to spread the good message about my work. Wedding photography suits me so well. I am a people person - communication’s my thing. I get such a buzz from getting to know people before & during their day – it really feeds into the storytelling element of wedding photographers’ skill.

I don’t use that term lightly because I think a wedding photographer has to hone her skills well beyond the technical ability of her camera gear. We have to be able to read people, read situations, judge a moment, be ready at any second to capture that moment and sometimes to give it a little nudge in the right direction. We have to be subtle and sincere, sharp and silly, fast and fun. And god knows you can’t fake all that!

A good wedding photographer is all these things rolled into a technician who is as familiar with their camera gear as she is with her own arm! Easy peasy! I love it. And the best bit is I get to create a piece of a family’s history by archiving their wedding day. What an honour. I wouldn’t want to do anything else, that is a certainty.

SOME TIPS FOR THE GROOM FOR HIS ALL IMPORTANT DAY.

WEDDING ATTIRE:

There are options available to men for their wedding day. Morning suits,

tuxedos or a three piece suit are all options available to grooms and groomsmen. Which you choose all depends on how formal you wish to go on your big day. First you have to decide are you going to buy or rent. If you and your bride decide on morning suits or tuxedos for you and your groomsmen then renting is probably best. I’ve looked at a lot of different options and by far my favourite would be three piece suits for the groom’s party. I think a classic 3 piece black suit for the groom and a grey or navy suit for the groomsmen looks elegant and sophisticated and will date well in wedding photos. Or

alternatively black tuxedos all around. Whatever you decide make sure your bride is happy. For guests at a wedding go for a 2 piece suit, ties over bows so as not to be confused as part of the wedding party

WEDDING GROOMING: •A good haircut is essential for every groom. Keep it classic, clean and simple. Talk to your barber or hairdresser about styles that will suit you, and also time when to get your hair trimmed before the big day.•Facial hair needs to be tidy and clean looking, again ask your barber to tidy up the beard or facial hair. Do not go for anything drastic for your big day your bride to be will not thank you. •It’s now time to invest in your skin. Start using a face wash, moisturiser and eye cream/gel. A word to the wise for the best man, do not even think about shaving of his eyebrows or any other equally stupid stunts on the stag. Speaking of eyebrows, if they are unruly and wild it may be worth your while booking an appointment to have them back under control. Some beauty therapists will make home visits if you wish to remain discreet about it.

PRODUCT OF THE MONTH: Looking good doesn’t happen by magic. Our eyes are the biggest teller of age and show more of the effects of our lifestyles than anywhere else. It is now time to look after the skin around them. Lancôme and Clinique both have fantastic eye creams/gels for approx. €40. Both are available at CH Chemist and Sam McCauley. They are pricey, but are a great investment.

TILL NEXT MONTH

You are ready for the wedding the outfit has been bought, decision made, so how do you complete the look? Shoes, bag and other accessories are needed but where do you start, do you really want to start the journey from shop to shop again? We popped in for a chat with one of Kerry’s favourite fashion consultants Carmel Russell of That’s Perfect.

Hi Carmel, Many people will know you from your many years with Razzle Dazzle, but now your shop is known as Thats PerfectHow did the name That’s Perfect come about?

Carmel: We got the name from our customers to be honest, On numerous occasions ladies would call into the shop looking to match up their special occasion outfit, be they Mother of the bride or groom, guest at a wedding or after wedding party, or going to the races, there would be a certain anxiety around them as they were not sure what it was exactly they were looking for. I would often recommend that where possible and they had enough time, to bring in the outfit. I encourage them to try a range of different accessories, in colours to enhance the outfit, bag with matching shoes, shawl and or fascinator as required to suit the complete look, finally when it all clicked and they felt this is exactly the look they were looking for, the expression commonly used was ‘That’s Perfect’!!! So really Margaret, the name over the door these days tries to express what we want to achieve with each and every customer and that is for them

to say when everything is coordinated and matched up, and all the anxiety gone, ‘That’s Perfect’. There you have it ladies, if you want to look perfect at your next occasion, pop in to Carmel and her team and you will walk out feeling complete and saying to yourself That’s Perfect.

The simple passage of time together with the pleasures and stresses of life tends to cause our skin to appear older. Signs of aging are typically most visible on a person’s face. Whilst treatment creams, regular facials or even surgery exists to improve facial flaws we are always looking for dramatic improvements with low risk and no `downtime’. Finally there is an answer the Ellipse Skin Rejuvenation treatment.Ellipse Skin Rejuvenation treatment is non-invasive treatment used to erase skin damage without disruption of the skin’s surface. The Skin Rejuvenation treatment is ideal for clients who find they have skin discolouration, sun damage, age spots, mottled pigmentation, dull complexions, diffused redness (high colour) and the symptoms of rosacea and large pores. The Ellipse Skin rejuvenation treatment stimulates collagen production in the dermis, which in turn produces an anti-aging effect on the treatment area. Clients notice their skin looks smoother and younger, fine lines and wrinkles appear reduced and make-up goes on more evenly. The Skin Rejuvenation treatment with Ellipse is a major advantage for those clients who want great results without long recovery times. The most common area for treatment is the face, however the treatment can be successfully used on the neck, chest and hands as these areas are regularly exposed to the sun, through day to day activities.

A full consultation and patch test is carried out prior to treatment to establish eligibility of the client. The treatment time averages approximately 30 - 45 minutes for face and chest and treatments should be performed once every 4-6 weeks.

Results can be noticed after just one treatment however to achieve the best results a course of six treatments is recommended. Treatments should be carried out at monthly intervals.

For more information on the Skin Rejuvenation treatment please call: Sanctuary Medi Spa and Laser Clinic @ The Brandon Hotel, Tralee on 066 7185776

Many people believe that bones are dead tissue. This could not be further from the truth; bone

is living tissue that is constantly being broken down and replaced. Bones are the scaffolding of our bodies. Osteoporosis refers to brittle or porous bones. Osteopenia is the term used to describe the early stages of osteoporosis.

Like any scaffolding if bone becomes damaged then the structures it supports can collapse. In the human body this can result in loss of height, hip/wrist/ spine fractures or Dowagers Hump in the upper spine.

As we get older more bone is lost than is replaced and this process occurs more commonly in women. The process of losing more bone than is replaced occurs more frequently in certain medical conditions (see below). 1 in 2 women over 50 will develop a fracture due to osteoporosis in their lifetime compared to 1 in 5 men. It is not usual or expected for an adult to develop a fracture due to a simple fall and such an occurrence should make both the person and their healthcare providers consider a diagnosis of osteoporosis. Osteoporosis can be prevented by initiating some lifestyle changes. It is a silent disease and many people are only identified with osteoporosis when it is too late.

How serious is Osteoporosis?• 20% of people age 60+ who fracture a hip will die within one year• The majority of older people who fracture a hip never return to full independent living• Many people will suffer other medical complications after a hip fracture such as blood clots, pneumonia or chest infections.

How do I know if I am at

risk of osteoporosis?• A family history of osteoporosis is a very strong predictor of a person developing osteoporosis. 80% of bone metabolism is genetically determined. Therefore, someone who has a family history of the condition should consider that they are at risk• Illness that may interfere with absorption of Vitamin D and Calcium, such as coeliac disease or Inflammatory Bowel Disease can contribute to this disease. • Long term use of steroids.

• People with a history of eating disorders are at a very high risk of developing osteopenia/osteoporosis at a much younger age.• Any condition where a woman has less than 4 periods per year increase her risk. This could include premature menopause, over exercising or inadequate nutrition• Lack of weight bearing exercise• Excessive caffeine or alcohol intake and cigarette smoking are also risk factors• Prolonged periods of immobilisation • Reduced exposure to sun- we all require 10-15 minutes of exposure to sunlight per day. Not easy in our Irish climate!!• Some medications which people take on a long term basis can affect bones. This may include some medications for epilepsy, Lithium, some diuretics, steroids, heparin / warfarin.• Chemotherapy or radiotherapyA DXA Scan is the gold standard method of identifying osteoporosis and osteopenia.

What can I do to Prevent Osteoporosis? Can the condition be reversed?• Calcium is the most important mineral for our bones. It is found in milk, cheese, yoghurts, green vegetables and some fish. • Vitamin D3 is crucial and works in conjunction with calcium. As previously mentioned Vitamin D3 is the “sunshine” vitamin acquired through sun exposure. Increased use of sun block and clothing which completely covers the bodies can result in reduced Vitamin D absorption. Babies who are exclusively breastfed are at risk of Vitamin D deficiency. There are reports of an increase in rickets (a disease causing bone deformities) in the UK and Ireland in the past few years.Vitamin D is also found in oily fish such as sardines, mackerel and salmon. Dairy products and fortified breakfast cereals are alternative sources of Vitamin D.Vitamin D and Calcium supplements can

be obtained in pharmacies and health food shops.• Exercise is a crucial part of looking after your bones. Weight bearing exercise such as dancing, tennis, running/jogging or power walking are valuable to maintain bone health 30 minutes weight bearing exercise per day is recommended. If you are new to exercise start slowly. If you already have osteopenia / osteoporosis or suffer from musculo-skeletal problems it may be advisable to seek advice from a physiotherapist prior to embarking on an exercise programme.• While all the lifestyle changes described above are crucial, there may be situations where your doctor would consider prescribing medications for you.HRT (hormone replacement therapy) can be useful for preventing osteoporosis in women. There are other newer medications but undoubtedly a good lifestyle is the cornerstone of good bones.

Take Home MessageOur bones are living, breathing tissue. They are the scaffolding for our bodies and if they crumble our lives can be seriously affected. As we all now live to a much older age we owe it to ourselves to have the best quality of life possible.

This month we catch up with DJ, Model and now TV presenter and wife of Brian McFadden of westlife.

60 Seconds with Vogue MCfadden on ‘Getting the Look’

Would you normally use Cleanser, Toner and Moisturiser daily?

I use decleor moisturizer and I would take my make up off with my clarisonic and dermalogica cleanser. Sometime I also use a rose oil on my face if it’s dry.

Have you got a particular foundation you like to wear? Do you compliment it with blush or are you a bronzer type gal?

I mix up my foundation, at the moment I’m using a hd brows foundation as it’s so long lasting and I’m working long days. I also use their blusher and bronzer.

Are the eyes important to you? Would you have a regime for bringing out the best look?

I like to use a beige base on my eyes and then I would do black eyeliner with a flick. I would rarely wear a lot of make up on my eyes unless it was for a night out.

Lips are always important what shades do you feel bring out the best look on you?

I use a lip liner that’s just slightly darker than my own lips and I’d also use a pinkish lip gloss.

Nails… do you like to have the nails looking polished and finished at all times, what colours do you like best?

I always like to have my nails done, I go to tropical popical a lot in town and I mix and match my colours. My favourite is a bright Pastel peach from the gelish range.

Any special tips for our readers?

Make sure you get your eyebrows done; the difference they make to your face is unreal. I get my HD brows done at least once every six weeks.

What are you favourite treatments when you visit a spa or salon?

I love getting a collagen wave done and go to derma spa when I’m in the UK or the beauty school in Newry when I’m home.

Any little secrets to looking good over the cold winter months?

Oh yes cocoa brown tan, I use it twice weekly in the winter as I feel my skin is quite pale this time of year it is my favourite tan, and they also have an amazing new product coming out soon, I can’t wait to see it x

We all love social media but how much do we really know about it and are we getting the best use from it for our business, Ken Tobin has joined us to give us some tips on navigating the whole social media map.

I am obsessed with Social Media, it’s my job! Is your businesses ready to present itself to the public on Social Media. Ask yourself this:

This might sound ridiculous, but in fact it’s one of the first things you should ask yourself – Your customers need to know who you are, and what you represent – People Buy From People - have a clear identity of what their business’s personality is.

For most small businesses, whether they’re a local Shoe Shop, Architect or small Cafe, there’s no reason to do social media if there’s no online presence to back it up.

This is where most small business owners struggle. In a small business – You are everything to everyone. Sometimes you have to prioritise what gets done. You cannot allow Social Media be something you attend to in your spare time – because small business owners don’t have spare time!

Okay here’s where it gets complicated. I recently posted on www.weebizmedia.com which platforms work best for each age group and each business type – I suggest having a read to see what works best for you.

A good start is only just the beginning, Spend time setting up your Social Media profiles, but continue on, week after week after week. A stale or dormant profile on Social Media does you and your business no justice!

Kierans New Year Resolution tips

JANUARY has passed and many New Year’s Resolutions have already been broken but it’s not too late for Tralee people to do five simple things to help boost the local economy in 2015.

1. Do one major shop every week in Tralee – the county capital and home of a great choice when it comes to retail therapy with an abundance of shops, cafes, restaurants and parking.

2. Visit an all-weather attraction in Tralee every month in 2015 – Aqua Dome, Tralee Sports and Leisure Centre, Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre, Kerry County Museum, Siamsa Tire Theatre, The Playdium, Manor Karting, Bowling Buddies, Blennerville Windmill, Aqua Golf and Crag Caves (that’s 11 months covered from February to December).

3. Take the family out for a meal at least once a month in Tralee – it won’t cost the earth and there’s plenty of menus to choose from in your county capital.

4. Get out of the office and hold a business meeting in a Tralee hotel, café or pub once a month.

5. Invite all the contacts in your phone and on Facebook to book a short break in Tralee in 2015 - they don’t all have to come at once!

The CEO of Tralee Chamber Alliance, Kieran Ruttledge, said: “We cannot operate without the support of our members and we need more new members in 2015. Tralee needs a strong voice to represent the business community and in order to be heard we intend to build our membership base in 2015. Tralee will only ever move forward if the business community unites and works together with a positive attitude.”Tralee Chamber Alliance and Tralee Municipal District worked closely together to deliver a strong Christmas season for the retail and hospitality sectors in the town.

“The Christmas lights were the envy of towns from Donegal to Waterford, while the free parking and programme of events attracted much local and national media attention and a large number of visitors to Tralee,” said Kieran Ruttledge.Anyone – business or individual – who is interested in supporting the efforts to strengthen Tralee’s position as Kerry’s County Capital, can join Tralee Chamber Alliance. For more information, contact Kieran Ruttledge at 18 Denny Street, Tralee, call 066-7121472 or email [email protected]

MENU OF THE MONTH WITH MARK DOE

Seafood chowder is one of my favourite dishes to serve as a hearty family meal. There are many versions of chowder including New England clam chowder, Manhattan clam chowder and even a vegetarian corn chowder. Most of the varieties include potatoes which help thicken the soup. It is hard to find the roots of where seafood chowder originated but common believe is that it was first cooked in France along the coast of Bordeaux to Brittany, although others say that it originated in fishing villages around Cornwall

in the UK. With its similarities to the French fish stew , Bouillabaisse I feel it was the French that first cooked chowder. My recipe for seafood chowder is a big hit at the cookery school and is a slightly lighter version than you often find and smoked bacon adds a lovely depth of flavour to the dish. It also makes for a lovely starter for a romantic valentines meal.

INGREDIENTS25 g butter 1 onion, diced 1 leek, trimmed and finely chopped1 carrot, diced 3 large rooster potatoes, finely chopped3 tablespoons of flour100g smoked bacon, cut into strips100ml white wine400ml fish stock or water 200ml milk250g mixed fresh fish fillets, skinned and cut into bite-sized pieces (such as smoked haddock, cod, haddock, hake and salmon) 180g Cromane mussels, scrubbed clean 1 tbsp chopped fresh flat-leaf parsley 130ml cream salt and freshly ground black pepper

1. Heat a large pan over a medium heat. Add the butter, tip in the onion, leek, carrot, potato and smoked bacon and gently cook for 5-6 minutes until lightly softened.

2. Pour the wine into the pan, bring to the boil and reduce by half.

3. Stir in the flour and then gradually add the fish stock or water.

4. Bring to a simmer, then add the milk and mixed fresh fish.

5. Return the pan to a simmer and add the cream, then season to taste. Cover with a lid and simmer gently for another 2 minutes. Add the mussels, cover again and simmer for a further 3-4 minutes or until the mussels have opened. Discard any mussels that do not open.

6. Stir through the chopped parsley, season with salt and pepper and serve with crusty bread.

Employers: Filing Annual Return for Employee’s (P35)The deadline for the return is the 15th February, although this is extended to the 23rd February when you pay and file online through ROS (Revenue on Line).

Payroll returns are slightly complex in that there is different Tax, USC and PRSI rates. It is one of the more difficult Revenue returns to complete so make sure to give yourself plenty of time.

No EmployeesWhere an employer has no employees in 2014, they still need to file their P35 Return. Simply complete P35 Return (Manual or Online) and tick box for Zero Employees. This will avoid getting reminders or tax estimates from Revenue.

Small Employers (0-10 Employees)This is the most common type of employer particularly in Kerry. Firstly make sure all employees are on the P35. Make sure you have gathered all information for each employee- PPS Number, Name, Address, Details of Pay, Tax, USC, PRSI etc.

Once information is ready, complete one employee at a time and summarise all employees to calculate liability due.

Larger Employers (10+ Employees)Larger employers will usually have a dedicated person to look after payroll, use a bookkeeper or their accountant. It is recommended that they use a payroll package and it would be unusual for them not to do so. Return completed as above but need to file the P35 using ROS.

Common PitfallEmployee allowances and tax rates sometimes get amended by Revenue during year. Be extra careful this year as Property Tax (LPT) has led to a lot of amendments to employee allowances. These need to be reflected in employee details on P35. Failure to do so could result in the underpayment of tax which could result in interest and penalties.

Time SavingMany employers including a lot of smaller employers use payroll packages. Simply print off P35 and supporting information and once you have checked same, use package to prepare file for ROS. Once file is prepared simply upload through ROS.

Originally from Tralee, County Kerry, Melanie Harty moved to the U.S. in the early nineteen eighties to further her career and enrich her knowledge of the artisan food sector. Spending several years in Washington D.C. and South Carolina, Melanie became passionate about the melting pot of ethnic cuisine synonymous with North American cooking.
