Greetings!

Welcome to the Annual AAIE Conference!

Our theme for the 51st Conference, Future Leaders – Future Schools, could not be more appropriate for our annual gathering.

The work of the AAIE Family, (and I do look upon our “collective us” as a family), has rarely had so many challenges facing our schools as we maneuver through an ever-more complex world. Luckily, it is often not our schools which are harnessed by these challenges…rather through the typical international school vision and mission our schools and our students can provide beacons of light to guide the way for national and global complications.

Once more I will write something I have said many times before…if I had the power to put graduates of international schools into every country as presidents and prime ministers, I believe we would enjoy a much more settled future. Since I do not possess this magic wand, I simply congratulate each and every one of you for the good work that you and your schools accomplish every day in your own countries.

San Francisco is a wonderful setting for the conference—I urge you to enjoy every aspect of the sessions, the networking and the inspiration that comes along with spending time with others who have chosen to be an important part of the extended AAIE community.

Thank you to all presenters, exhibitors, the AAIE staff, the Board, and all the participants who have traveled from near and far. Make the most of the next days you spend together and plan to return again when we gather in New York in 2018.

Best regards,

Linda M. Duevel, PhD

AAIE Board Chair

“ Walking with our Students into the Future”

As educators, we appreciate that we need to prepare our students for a future that is changing in ways that we cannot always predict. With these changes, our schools have some choices to make about what is included in the curriculum, how we communicate the content, and how assessment is conducted. Let’s talk about how we can start thinking about these changes.
