About Fraternity & Sorority Affairs FSA provides advisement to the 97 social fraternity and sororities recognized by the Black Greek, Interfraternity, Panhellenic and United Greek Councils. Through the execution of successful programming, our unit supports the advancement of academic achievement, risk prevention, leadership and personal development, service, alumni relations, health and wellness, and general fraternity/sorority administrative operations. Mission We advocate for a positive undergraduate fraternal experience while engaging stakeholders in the advisement of chapter operations, support through crisis, and expecting chapters to uphold organization and university standards. We establish and advise student programs, trainings and skill development in the areas of leadership, safety, wellness, personal development, inclusion, cultural competence, service, civic engagement, and membership recruitment. Service & Social

• Fusion Stroll

• GreekServe – Winter & Spring Breaks: GreekServe is an initiative sponsored by Fraternity & Sorority Affairs. With winter and spring break editions, students have the opportunity to provide services to a specific community or area.

• Greeks Support Homecoming: Greeks Support Homecoming is the coordinating body of fraternity and sorority members which plans and executes a variety of Homecoming events. The events include a Chapter House Banner Competition, BBQ & Showcase, Pre-Parade Homecoming Reception, and Parade. The group also collaborates with the Student Alumni Ambassadors (SAA) and the Illini Union Board (IUB) on the Green Street Window Decorating and the Homecoming 5K Race events.

Student, Organization & Alumni Recognition

• The Order of Omega Fraternity & Sorority Alumni Hall of Fame: This annual event recognizes fraternity and sorority alumni members for their extraordinary contributions and achievements since leaving the University of Illinois.

• Greek Oscars: Greek Oscars is an award ceremony to recognize outstanding chapters and individuals within our fraternity and sorority community, including council recognition. Hosted by the Black Greek, Interfraternity, Panhellenic and United Greek Councils, this ceremony recognizes the previous calendar year’s achievements.

Health, Wellness & Safety

• F.R.E.S.H. (Fit. Resilient. Education. Strong. Healthy.) Greeks

• Fire Factor Academy: Fire Factor Academy is an interactive fire safety education program coordinated through a partnership between the Champaign Fire Department, Urbana Fire Department, the Illinois Fire Safety Institute, Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, University Housing, and Private Certified Housing. This one-of-a-kind program has served as a national standard for other town and gown relationship in the area of fire safety education.

• GLASS: Greeks Leadership Alcohol Safety Skills or GLASS is a program designed by Fraternity & Sorority Affairs which focuses on education and response in emergency situations involving alcohol. This program can be customized to meet a particular chapter’s needs as well as provide a chapter with an action plan to use collectively as an organization.

Illinois’s GLASS Program was the recipient of the 2015 AFA/CoHEASAP Institution Award. This recognition is only awarded to one institution in the United States a year.

• Greek Life Balance: Greek Life Balance is a F.R.E.S.H. Greeks initiative designed to bring health and wellness education to our fraternity and sorority chapters. This Fraternity & Sorority Affairs and McKinley Health Center partnership provides incentivized programming for chapters on a semester basis.

• GUARD – Consent & Sexual Assault Prevention for Fraternity Men & Sorority Women: GUARD is a collaborative program between Fraternity & Sorority Affairs, the Women’s Resources Center, and the Black Greek, Interfraternity, Panhellenic and United Greek Councils.

This interactive program, offered in the fall and spring semesters, educates student on creating a safe campus which values consent, supports survivors, and intervenes in potentially dangerous situations.

• Illinois Body Project: The Illinois Body Project is a peer-led program which encourages sorority women to establish and maintain a healthy body image. The Illinois Body Project is the first program supported by scientific evidence with proven positive results for its participants. Implemented over 2 two-hour sessions, this highly interactive program deconstructs the widely accepted “ultra-thin ideal” and empowers sorority women to create and affirm positive and healthy body self-image.

• Stride for Survivors – A Solidarity Walk to End Sexual Violence on Campus

• Imprint – Fraternity & Sorority Affairs Session: The Imprint Leadership Program focuses on skills necessary for displaying leadership during times of personal and professional transition. Students develop skills in managing themselves during times of change, and learn how to develop, and maintain the personal and professional networks necessary to sustain success in any environment.

All small group facilitators at Imprint are University of Illinois fraternity and sorority alumni. They are chosen from a variety of professions and academic colleges, and share their own personal stories of success and challenge around transition in their own lives.
