Fire Rating

RISER - CMR/OFNR

Flammability: LOW – Burns but will self extinguish, prevent the flame from traveling up the cable in a

vertical

burn test

Toxicity: HIGH – Burning, gives off toxic gasses

Applications: Cables find inside walls, vertical shaft, runs between floors

PLENUM – CMP/OFNP

Flammability: LOW – Burns but will self extinguish, not reignite. They also produce less smoke than

traditional PVC cables

Toxicity: HIGH – Burning, gives off toxic gasses

Applications: Cables find in air plenums such as raised flooring systems and air handling ducts.

Coax vs Structure Cable Systems

Analog video surveillance systems historically been installed with a separate

cable each for the video, control & power. Now we can combine the three

cables into one versatile UTP cable. Would you rather use 1 UTP cable or

three cables including one COAX cable – the choice is clear

10 Good reasons why use Twisted Pair

1. Highly reduced overall cable purchase cost and installation (labor costs)

– Cat5e $87 per 1,000 ft

– RG59 $141 per 1,000ft

2. Data transfer rate (UTP results in better video quality)

– Cat5e up to 1GB per second

– Coax from 10MB to 350MB

3. Physically smaller than coax, Lighter weight cable bundles than COAX and no bend radius issues

4. Easier installation following UTP structured cabling

5. Easiest media to install and reconfigure

6. Color-coded cabling

7. Future-Proofing; Supports both Analog & IP Cameras – Prepare for the future while saving cost today

8. Easier to Add Cameras over Structured Cabling

9. Longer distances for remote cameras; over 1 Mile (1.6 Km)

10. Video, Control and Power signals on one UTP cable segment
