Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding. For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver, and the gain thereof than fine gold. She is more precious than rubies: and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her. Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her: and happy is every one that retaineth her. Proverbs 3:13-18

WisdomA TREE OF LIFE

Wisdom: Redeeming the Time

Time is moving like the sands of the hourglass. What will you do to redeem the time?

Ephesians 5:15-17 “See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.” We must know according to God’s word the difference between being a fool and in being a wise person so we will do His will.

In II Timothy 3:15, the apostle Paul said to Timothy, "And that from a child thou hast known the Holy Scriptures which are able to make thee wise unto salvation." We see that wisdom is found in the knowledge of the Word of God - it’s truth, which brings salvation. Therefore, salvation is the foundation of wisdom. The Bible tells us, in Psalms 53:1 “The fool hath said in his heart, there is no God.” Proverbs 9:10 says, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom....” From these two verses, we see two opposites: being a fool and being wise. These two things cannot be combined, for they are opposites. When one fearfully understands who God is, and begins to believe His truth, wisdom takes root.

What wisdom is not: Having the wisdom of God is not being what the world views as a wise person; it is not being an intellectual or a philosopher. 2 Timothy 3:7 “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” Philosophy cries out, “I must rationally investigate all knowledge in order to believe.”

What wisdom is: Wisdom is “redeeming the time” - knowing what God expects and doing what He wills. A wise person believes in God for salvation. The wise will have a humble spirit for they know all they are, and all they will ever be, is dependant upon the God in whom they rely on for strength. Wisdom cries out, “God, I believe in you whom I have not physically seen.” True wisdom is wrapped in faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Peter 1:8-9 “Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.”

What shall we do with this God given wisdom? How shall we redeem the time? We shall live as a wise Christian should live – do what pleases God; do not be slothful; resist the devil and his temptation so that we will walk not as a fool, but as one who is

truly wise.

John 7:37-38 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.

I realized that for several weeks I have been thirsty. I had poured out for so long that my well was beginning to get to a critical point in trying to replenish others. I woke up this morning with those thoughts on my mind, and wrote this poem. Praise God for Living Water.

C.H. Spurgeon said, “It is where you are that you are to fight the battle of life—not somewhere else. And it is as you are, the very man that you are, and just now, this very hour, that God calls you to work in His vineyard."

HAITI

A total of 24 barrels (size: 55 gallon) filled with supplies were sent to Haiti, and are now in the hands of the missionaries. SGTS helped in this shipment; 2 1/2 barrels of supplies! Glory to God! When the earth quake hit Haiti, on January 12, 2010, it destroyed the orphanage building and all its contents. No lives were lost, but every thing else was destroyed. It took over a year to get back into the new orphanage building. Since that time, work has continued to furnish the orphanage and resupply it with all that is needed to house, feed, educate, and clothe 120 kids.

Needless to say, the needs are great as they are all over the island nation of Haiti. Thousands upon thousands of people are still homeless and living in tent cities. The only real endeavors to change this is coming through missionaries. What we have done makes a difference in the lives of the people of Haiti and also, ultimately, for the good of their souls.

My church, Open Door Fellowship, is making a large contribution to the effort to purchase bunk beds for the children. Most are currently sleeping on the floor. They are thankful to have a roof over their heads, but I want them to have a bed! The cost for a set of bunk beds is $300.00. Perhaps some of our students, particularly those students who are pastors, can move their church forward into some new missionary endeavors.

We can do this, even if its one bed at a time!
