Conservation Internship, Nottinghamshire Biodiversity Action Group The Nottinghamshire Biodiversity Action Group (Notts BAG) is a partnership of voluntary, statutory and community groups working together to conserve and enhance the wildlife of Nottinghamshire for the benefit of people. The Conservation Internship will be based at Nottinghamshire County Council’s Offices at County Hall in West Bridgford. We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is committed to a career in nature conservation to work with the Biodiversity Officer for a ten-month placement, starting in summer 2020. The role will involve working with a range of organisations to update the Local Biodiversity Action Plan for Nottinghamshire as well as assisting with the creation of a new website for the Notts BAG partnership. The role will offer the opportunity to work with a broad range of organisations, including (but not exclusively) the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, the Environment Agency, Local Authorities and local Community Groups across Nottinghamshire and in the City of Nottingham. There will also be an opportunity to get involved in some of the project work that Notts BAG undertakes, We are looking for a student who is currently working towards a degree in a biodiversity-related subject. The candidate should: Have a good understanding of lowland habitats and their management for wildlife Have an awareness of the key organisations involved in nature conservation and their roles Be able to demonstrate good IT skills including the use of common business support software Have experience and understanding of geographical information systems (GIS) Be proficient in the use of social media The ideal candidate must have a keen interest in wildlife, be happy working in an office environment and have a willingness to work some anti-social hours.
