Harry Mills Perform, to carry out, accomplish, or fulfill an action, task, or function. This has always been my passion. I started singing at the mere age of 7, training classically working my way up to Grade 8 with ABRSM; I had a passion for singing in different languages and was particularly fond of the “Bel Canto” technique, which led to me being inspired by Italian music. Having had a strong foundation in classical singing and music I believe it has helped me in Musical Theatre to have greater support and a wider range. However, in my opinion versatility is the key to success therefore one of my focuses in higher education is to keep focus on developing my classical technique in conjunction with an exceptional higher education in Musical Theatre. This is one of the main reasons why I believe that Royal Conservatoire of Scotland is the right institution for me as it can offer that versatility at a high level in order to succeed. At the age of 9, my family and I moved away to Singapore. The culture shock of South East Asia took some getting used to which has molded me into who I am today. It is a very central country enabling us as a family travel around multiple Asian countries and helping the less fortunate. I was lucky enough to help an orphanage, being in Singapore’s neighboring country, Malaysia, assisting the children to read and write which was thoroughly humbling. Along with the personable charity work, I have also been involved with charities such as HOPE, Project Hammer and the Pistorio foundation performing in multiple concerts to raise awareness and funds for these charities. Aside from the performance element of charity work it has always been an aspiration of mine to raise money by a different manner after I moved to Bangkok in 2012, which led me to run a half marathon in aid of the Philippines disaster raising over £2,000, a year later I also shaved my head raising over £1,500 alone for Cancer Research. This charity work has helped me to enhance my performing by helping others with their misfortune and has taught me to never take anything for granted. The way in which the orphans looked at me in a sight of admiration created an unforgettable feeling of achievement and has caused the strive for this passion to grow. Having lived in Singapore and Bangkok I believe it has made me into a more open minded individual, it has also has enabled me to gain in my personal qualities as I now believe I am more culturally sensitive and diverse due to my experiences in Asia for 7 years.

Perform, to carry out, accomplish, or fulfill an action, task, or function. This has always been my passion.

I successfully auditioned for the Musical Theatre course a Tring Park school for the Performing Arts, gaining one of the few full time scholarships available on the course. I chose this course as I felt the training across all three disciplines has helped me to develop into an all round performer, I feel this is the key for this industry thus wanting to work on my dance to make me into an all round performer. Within my first year at Tring Park I was one of two students chosen for the Cabaret, performing for various corporate and charity events throughout London, shortly after I was cast as Sky in Guys and Dolls directed by Racky Plews. As well as a diligent first year of vocation, I also accumulated four AS levels in Maths, Business, Media and Theatre studies and will be taking three A levels in Business, Media and Theatre in May 2016. I believe these wide academic subjects, with predicted grades of ABB, will enable me to become a more educated performer.

I was elected last year as Deputy Head Boy at Tring Park, which has made me more experienced in my social and leadership skills. Giving speeches at Open Days and other formal events has really helped me to gain the capability to engage an audience in public speaking. Conducting tours around the school for perspective parents and patrons of Tring Park has also helped me to gain the expertise in a customer-facing role. I feel my time at Tring Park has given me important organizational skills, such as punctuality, essential for working in a professional environment.
