The healing qualities of both journal writing and image-making are joined together in potent combination in the creation of an “Image Journal.” Part soul work, part personal narrative, the intimacy of the process encourages archetypal imagery to surface from memory and imagination. The journal reveals one’s interior mythology and its deep connection to the sacred whole. Prior participants have ignited a creative spark and unleashed new avenues of self-expression. For others, journal creation assisted in navigating a life transition, in visualizing memoir and preserving family history, and for many, it offered a gift of self-care after illness, trauma or loss.

The instructor has twice exhibited her own sketchbooks at the National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington, D.C. among other venues. She has offered her original “Image Journaling” with the Smithsonian Institution’s Art Studio (DC), Yale Graduate Divinity School (CT), Ursuline College Graduate Art Therapy Program (OH), and St. Bonaventure University, (NY), where she served as a tenured associate professor of painting and drawing
