    PURPOSE OF THE FESTIVAL

The Foundation aims to develop dental health campaigns with the creation

of a Mobile Clinic that will travel around the country to bring basic dental

care to populations. We are organizing this musical event to raise funds for

what is our main goal for 2015, the Mobile Dental Clinic.

This fully equipped Mobile Dental Clinic will provide access to restorative

and preventative care, including exams, X-rays, fillings, emergency

examination, and eventual surgeries, and palliative treatment right on the

    field throughout the country.

It will serve multiple populations in broad geographic areas, many of which

have no access whatsoever to any dental care.

We will be bringing oral health to those who need it the most where it

    is most needed.

OUR FOUNDATION: ONE WORLD ONE SMILE

The start of One World One Smile begun through the creation of the

Spanish foundation “Un Mundo Una Sonrisa”; a non-profit organization

dedicated to the promotion of oral health in Tanzania and East Africa. The

main goal is to provide and assist towards oral health in economically

deprived areas. We then registered One World One Smile in Dar es

Salaam, as an International Non-Governmental Organization.

Combining both foundations, our team is made up of dentists, engineers

and assistant surgeons. With an international background, we all come

together to develop the foundations projects and ideas.

The foundation pursues the following goals: assessing oral health in

deprived areas to raise their standards of care, helping develop and train

Tanzanian doctors and auxiliary staff and when needed, coordinating

    surgical assistance with other countries.

Regarding our 2014 activities, we are proud to mention the following:

Coordination of international surgical assistance for Sunday Sunday is a young Tanzanian boy, aged 22, with a big tumor in his jaw

causing him facial deformity and unbearable pain from a year ago. Since his

diagnosis in August, at the foundation’s clinic in Dar Es Salaam, we

coordinated the medical assistance and the resources in Spain, initiating a

campaign in both countries to raise funds.

He landed in Madrid on October 25th for his surgery, to have the tumor

removed and rebuild his lower jaw with bone from his fibula. One of the best

surgical teams in Europe performed an 11 hour micro-surgery to restore him

    to normal oral health.

Sunday is now back home in Tanzania. The amazing team of surgeons from

San Francisco de Asís Hospital in Madrid made this miracle possible.

4th edition of the Medical Camp in Kerege

  • 13th January 2015 DSMF Proposal 13

400 Toure Drive, PO BOX 23418, Masaki-Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania

The Foundation’s team went to the Kerege Primary School in Bagamoyo to

participate in the 4th edition of the medical camp organized by the Rotary

Club of Dar Es Salaam Oyster Bay, which took place on November 16th,

    2014.

For the first time a dental team was included in the medical camp.

Throughout the day 750 patients were treated by various specialists

(ophthalmology, gynecology and diagnosis of cervical cancer, blood tests,

malaria tests, HIV tests, etc.). The team of One World One Smile gave

dental care to 46 patients, based on their needs and carrying out 36

emergency treatments (extractions, drainage of abscesses, severe pre-

    diagnostic of advanced lesions, etc.)

Thanks to sponsorships and donations, One World One Smile was able to

perform such actions with full instrumental availability and we successfully

complete our first collaboration in a medical project of this nature.
