Our expertise – Interfacial phenomena within the construction industry

Our five management systems address the specific requirements of the construction industry, such as:

• Performance

• Durability

• Lifecycle management

• Appearance

• Resource efficiency

• Cost efficiency

• Eco-friendliness

Our brands: SITREN®

SITREN AirVoid®

TEGO® Antifoam

TEGOSIVIN®

1. AirVoid Management – Control air with our defoamers and air entrainers

Air in concrete has a direct impact on:

• Workability

• Mechanical properties

• Durability

• Aesthetics

• Slump properties

• Density

The production of concrete requires intensive mixing with water. The shear forces introduced during mixing, in combinationwith surface-active components in the concrete formulation, result in the distribution and stabilization of uncontrolled air infresh concrete.

Defoamers are used for the prevention and removal of this undesired air. Air entrainers, in contrast, are used to introducecontrolled air voids for specific concrete applications and performance requirements.

Thanks to our in-depth knowledge in the field of interfacial technology, we can influence the interplay between air entrainers

and defoamers in a targeted way when both additive technologies are used in combination.

AIR ENTRAINERS – AT A GLANCE

Air entrainers are required to create stable and homogeneously distributed air voids. Depending on the requirements, air stabilizing additives

can optimize the size, content and distribution of the air voids.

SITREN AirVoid® 601 is based on synthetically produced surfactant technology and is characterized by a strong, predictable relationship between dosage and quantity of entrained air. SITREN AirVoid® 601 serves as a highly efficient air entrainer in concrete; delivering improved

workability, durability and cost savings.

DEFOAMERS – AT A GLANCE

1. AirVoid Management – Optimum quality with our defoamer additives

Our AirVoid® defoamers reduce concrete air content resulting in higher flexural, tensile and compressive strengths andimproved abrasion resistance. The selection of the correct defoamer chemistry ensures that neither cement hydrationnor the concrete’s early strength are adversely affected.

Our new liquid defoamer additives portfolio offers an extensive range of surfactant chemistries and combines theexpertise and the chemical know-how of two well established partners* in the concrete industry.

Water repellents are used to provide concrete with durable protection against water and moisture. Our TEGOSIVIN® CA /HE water repellents are designed to minimize the infiltration of water and dissolved pollutants without compromising water

vapor permeability. TEGOSIVIN® water repellents also contribute to the reduction of primary and secondary efflorescence.

3. Curing Management - Ensuring stability with our shrinkage reducing agents

Shrinkage reducing agents are used to limit the crack formation and deformation of concrete. Our new SITREN® SRAproducts are liquid shrinkage reducing agents based on a novel technology. In addition to their environmental friendly, lowVOC characteristics, they have no significant impact on concrete setting and compressive strength. SITREN® SRA L 210 isthe first of our new liquid product line and significantly reduces both plastic and drying shrinkage at an attractive price /

performance ratio.

RELEASE AGENTS – AT A GLANCE

4. Release Management - Mold release agents

The demolding process and the associated use of mold release agents is becoming increasingly important due to theaesthetic demands on concrete structures. Smooth, defect-free and thus visually attractive concrete surfaces are seen todayas hallmarks of quality in manufactured building components.

SITREN® MR 870 and 871 are biodegradable, non-hazardous mold release agents which not only deliver outstanding releaseperformance, they also prevent concrete discoloration, surface residues and corrosion of metal molds.
