Construction of digipak (editing pictures)

Our first step was to edit the pictures we had of our lead singer and the band in order to make them suitable for our digipak and to make them stand out for our target audience. We used Adobe Photoshop CS3 Extended to edit our pictures; below you can find screenshots we took of us carrying out the task in hand.

This is the original picture we had of our artist

The first effect we added to our picture was adding a lens flare which in turn would make the hands of our artist stand out, this was essential as the band name is tattooed on his hand and by bringing this in to the line light it would be a great as the band is still up and coming so by seeing the hands before anything it would be a great advertising tool.

The second step on the picture was to make it a similar colour to our website simply due to promotional purposes; we added a fresco effect to the image which was perfect for our front cover image

Once our front and back covers had been designed we then moved on to editing the pictures that were going to be within our digipak.

We added a similar effect to our back cover is well so that our digipak would look like a complete package.

For both of the images that were going to appear first in our digipak we added lens flare, however it was a different lens flare from the one we had previously used which gave our pictures a totally different effect. We didn’t want to add any affects to the actual images of the band as we decided that because it was their first ever digipak it would be important to let the audience recognise who they are in terms of appearance

We then moved on to the page were our song titles would be.

For both of these we used similar effects that we had done before in terms of the lens flare and fresco as we wouldn’t our product to look complete and go hand in hand with our other products)website & music video)

The following page would contain information about the band so we choose to use pictures that the band had on their MySpace page as we

thought that it went well with the information we were providing.

Although we used these pictures when it came to putting our digipak together we decided to crop, rearrange and change the size of the images in order to make them for effective as a bunch. The banner below was also found on the website and looked great with the images

We then had a page which contained some history about the band were we felt once again it would be important in terms of what is being said to

include the image of the band rather then just the lead singer.

For our final page we decided to have a thank you list which would allow the band to thank everyone who had helped them

For this image we decided to add a simple lens flare in the background which would then make the band members stand out as it brightens the image.

We decided to use a picture of the lead singer were he can be seen looking up which we felt would e effective as we wanted to have our text at the top of the page is well, therefore making it look like as if he was looking up at thank you list. We decided to copy the same picture but flip it making it look as if a mirror was present between both images. To the image we decided to add the fresco effect again for the same reasons as we had done for the previous images

Front cover & back cover

We then added a parental advisory sticker to our front cover

First step was to create a text box the same size as our Digipak cover

Second step was to insert the picture we had edited on Adobe Photoshop

Third step was to add the band name along the side we found this specific font from www.dafont.com , it was ideal mainly because the colour went with all our products (music video & website)

Fourthly we added text boxes for the limited edition text and the lead singers name

We also added a barcode as we felt it was important as we found it was a convention of digipaks

The copyright information was the band was also added

We then added our production logo to the back of our digipak

First step was once again to make the etxt box and make sure it was the right size

The picture we had edited was added as the background
