Kris Smith, a mechanical engineer, is an experttrainer in health, safety, security, emergencyresponse, risk assessment and risk management.She is well known for developing and implementingbehavior-based safety. She has a distinguishedcareer that spans over 20 years.

Formerly, Ms. Smith was Safety & Security Managerat a large petrochemical site running a department of30 professionals and managing a $1.5 million dollarbudget. She developed and implemented programsfor integrated process safety, traditional safety,behavior-based safety, and health and security intothe design of a major brownfields expansion project.

As Safety & Security Manager, she oversawconstruction aspects involving more than 3,000contractors on-site and participated in the startup ofthree new facilities. Additionally, she has conductedProcess Hazards Analyses (PHAs) and facility sitingstudies for petrochemical, chemical and refineryoperations.

KRIS SMITH PRESIDENT

Mr. Smith is an industry authority on process safety andrisk assessment with more than 20 years experience. He isrecognized for conducting Quantitative Risk Assessments,leading Process Hazards Analyses (PHAs) and LayerProtection Analyses, (LOPAs), and for conducting sitingstudies for a variety of facilities including refineries,petrochemical plants, LNG import facilities and offshoreinstallations.

Mr. Smith leads offshore and onshore Quantitative RiskAnalyses (QRAs) and offshore safety and risk case studies formajor oil companies: Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, ConocoPhillips,CITGO, MODEC, among others. His expertise includes fireand explosion analyses, smoke and gas ingress, emergencysystem survivability, escape, evacuation and rescue analysesincluding dropped object studies for clients worldwide.

During his tenure in the BP Exploration Technology Grouphe was the lead author for company-wide standards forOffshore Fire and Explosion Hazard Management, FireHazard Analysis and LOPAs.
