SeAH Special Steel produces Cold Heading Quality Wires and Cold Drawn Bars that are used as the basic materials for automobiles, electronics, industrial machines, shipbuilding, and construction and has made major contributions to the competitiveness and growth of the Korean automobile industry. The most significant advantages of SeAH Special Steel are its industry-best production capacity, the technological expertise accumulated over its long history, and its up-to-date facilities, which all contribute to supplying differentiated products. With its Pohang Plant as the main hub, SeAH Special Steel operates Plants 1 and 2 in Chungju. In response to the increasing demand for cars in China, SeAH Special Steel also established a local plant in Nantong and Tianjin, China. It also introduced automated up-to-date equipment to supply various products, including Bar to Bar and Peeled Bar products, to customers based on leading technology and enhanced quality.

Product Range and Capacity

CHQ Wire refers to steel wire that is made by drawing or annealing special steel wire rods. It is used in making coupling parts such as bolts, nuts and small crews and in parts for machines such as cars and electrical equipment. SeAH Special Steel produces top-notch cold working products with regard to durability and precision.

The Bar to Bar is a drawn bar that is used to pass the bar-shaped material (B/S Bar). With its outstanding quality of straightness, SeAH Spe-cial Steel’s Bar to Bar is utilized as materials for precision industry—It is applied to automobiles and industrial machines. SeAH Special Steel guarantees the quality of its products through In Line and Off Line ECT (Eddy Current Test) that there is no need for any additional straighten-ing process at the customer side.

The CD Bar refers to a bar-shaped product that is produced by drawing and straightening steel rods and cutting them into certain lengths. It is used mainly as automobile, machine, and elec-tronics (printer shaft, LCD, and LED pem nut) ma-terials. SeAH Special Steel’s CD Bar products are well known for its excellence in surface rough-ness, recision straightness, and roundness. Its con-tinuous efforts to produce differentiated products are on-going with the facilities such as 4-Roll M/C and Multi-Roll M/C.

Hydrogen Bell Furnace Annealed Products Hydrogen Bell Furnace Annealed Products offer tremendously improved spherodized structure, mechanical properties, and coating quality uniformity, ensuring excellent cold formability, and improving the service life. In particular, it tremendously improves the quality of SWCH45F and bearing steel that are difficult to anneal.

Quenched & Tempered Bar (QT Bar) QT Bars are used mainly as materials for all screws (for high-temperature pressure, and major-axis material with high strength). With the use of QT bars, users’ manufacturing process can be improved remarkably—enabling the cutting of costs, the shortening of delivery period, the improvement of productivity, and the securing of competitiveness.

Non Quenched and Tempered Bar (Non QT Bar)SeAH Special Steel, together with POSCO and MANDO, began to domestically develop Rack Bars in 1996. Rack Bars are utilized in automotive steering system. The domestic development of the core security parts contributed to reach a major break-through in the automotive industry regarding technology competitiveness.

Seam Free WireThe Seam free Wire remarkably increased its precision level by reducing surface defects of the hot rolling materials. SeAH Speical Steel does its best to remove all the defects from the products’ surface in the manufacturing process.

The Peeled Bar refers to a high-quality bar with a precise measure and enhanced roundness that is produced by continuously turning the surface of a rolled bar and thus removing micro-defects from the surface. The peeled bar is used for cylinder rods in excavators, lifts, loaders and other construction machines, for engines for vessels, for industrial ball screws, for cold forged parts in cars, and etc. SeAH Special Steel guarantees its surface qual-ity through the automated In Line straightness measuring equipment. It means there is no need for additional straightening process at the cus-tomer side.
