La consapevolezza che la pesca sportiva crei un importante indotto turistico ha portato a modificare le regolamentazioni di gestione delle acque e di prote-zione nei confronti delle varie specie. Oggi la pesca a mosca in Italia è infatti in una fase di grande trasformazione che per-mette di vivere straordinarie esperienze di pesca negli indimenticabili torrenti del Trentino, ricchi di trote marmorate, nei mari Adriatico e Tirreno popolati da potenti tonni, fino all’Abruzzo e alle sue splendide trote fario...acque cristalline in ambienti incontaminati non distanti da grandi città ricche di storia e di arte come Firenze, Roma, Venezia e Napoli.

We all know that sport fishing creates important satellite tourist activities - this has helped change regulations concerning the management of waters and the protection of the different species. Today fly fishing is experiencing a phase of big transformations and anglers can now live extraordinary fishing experiences on the unforgettable streams of Trentino, which are rich in marble trout, as well as on the Adriatic and Tyrrhenian seas, populated by powerful tuna fish, as far as Abruzzo with its wonderful brown trout. You can find crystal waters in uncontaminated environments close to fascinating historical and artistic cities such as Florence, Rome, Venice and Naples.

Il Trentino è conosciuto nel mondo per le Dolomiti e, grazie al suo paesaggio alpino, può contare su un patrimonio idrico di 3000 km di corsi d’acqua e di quasi 300 laghi. Questo ovviamente fa del Trentino una delle mete più interessanti in Italia per gli appassionati della pesca a mosca, inoltre la Regione in questi anni ha gestito il variegato patrimonio ittico con grande attenzione alla valorizzazione. Questo è il regno della trota marmorata!

A solo un’ora dai principali aeroporti del nord Italia, le possibilità di pescare in Trentino in ambienti diversi sono molteplici: dai laghetti alpini nelle Dolomiti, ai torrenti di montagna, fino ai fiumi di fondovalle, come l’Adige (il secondo fiume italiano) e a laghi come il Lago di Garda (il maggiore lago italiano).

È possibile anche combinare escursioni in quota accompagnati da guide esperte, pe-scare in alcune riserve esclusive a prenotazione obbligatoria, oppure con il belly boat in splendidi laghi popolati da grosse trote.

Il Trentino è ricco di storia, con i suoi castelli, musei e tradizioni, ed è vicino a città d’arte come Verona, capitale della musica con la sua famosa Arena, e Venezia con i suoi romantici canali. Tutto questo rende il Trentino una tappa irrinunciabile, dove è possibile unire la pesca con l’arte, la cultura, il trekking e la buona cucina…circondati dall’anfi-teatro naturale delle Dolomiti.

Trentino is known all around the world for the Dolomites and thanks to the Alps it can count on a great number of watercourses stretching for 3000 km and on nearly 300 lakes. This makes Trentino one of the most interesting destinations in Italy for fly fishing lovers. The varied water resources of this Region have also been improved by the careful management of the last few years - this is the reign of marble trout!

Just one hour away from the main airports of Northern Italy, there are a lot of fishing op-portunities in various environments: from the alpine lakes of the Dolomites to mountain streams, from valley floor rivers such as Adige (the second longest river in Italy) to lakes such as the Garda Lake (the biggest lake in Italy).

You can also make excursions in the mountains accompanied by expert guides, fish in some exclusive reserves or try fishing in a belly boat on wonderful lakes populated by big trout.

Trentino is rich in history, with its castles, museums and traditions, and it’s near art cities such as Verona, the capital of music with its famous Arena, and Venice with its romantic canals. All this makes Trentino a must see stop-over which combines fishing and art, culture, trekking and good cuisine… surrounded by the natural amphitheater of the Dolomites.

LIGURIA

La bellezza del Mar Ligure non ha certo bisogno di presentazioni ed è impossibile non rimanere estasiati nel visitare Monterosso, Vernazza o Portofino; in più, a poche miglia dalla costa, si possono pescare a mosca e a spinning splendidi tonni rossi, lampughe, tombarelli e sgombri sospesi in questo straordinario mare sullo sfondo delle Cinque Terre. L’attività di pesca “professionale” è stata bloccata e ora, con piccole barche veloci, si seguono le mangianze pescando con imitazioni di sardine e acciughe lasciandole de-rivare a galla nei branchi che vengono attaccati dai tonni. Le catture sono entusiasmanti in quanto le dimensioni dei tonni sono spesso intorno ai 20-30 kg e talvolta raggiungono anche più di 70 kg; in Adriatico addirittura il tonno rosso può arrivare anche a 150 kg e con attrezzatura da mosca sono stati catturati esemplari da oltre 50 kg! La stagione della pesca al tonno inizia verso fine agosto e prosegue fino a dicembre. Molto divertente è anche la pesca alle lampughe in settembre/ottobre e a tombarelli, pesci molto combattivi e incredibilmente belli, che si possono pescare per tutta la stagione.

Firenze merita uno spostamento di 2 ore e una permanenza di almeno un paio di giorni: lo shopping in centro, uno sguardo al panorama da Ponte Vecchio, una visita agli Uffizi e l’aperitivo in Piazza della Signoria non possono mancare, così come non si può perdere una passeggiata nelle vie della storica città di Genova.

The beauty of the Ligurian sea needs no introduction and it is impossible not to be enchanted when visiting Monterosso, Vernazza or Portofino. Just a few miles from the coast you can fish wonderful Bluefin tuna, dolphin fish, frigate or chub mackerel, on a fly or spinning, surrounded by the amazing background of Cinque Terre. “Professional” fishing has been stopped and now you can follow, on small speedy boats, the baitfish breaking the surface of the water and fish with imitations of sardines and an-chovies, letting them float among the shoals attached by tuna fish. Catches are exciting, the sizes of tuna fish are often about 20-30 kg and can sometimes reach over 70 kg. In the Adriatic Sea Bluefin tuna can even reach 150 kg and specimens over 50 kg have been caught with fly fishing tackle! The tuna fishing season starts towards the end of August and goes on till December. Fishing for dolphin fish in September / October is also very amusing and all season long you can fish frigate tuna, which are very combative and incredibly beautiful fish.

Florence deserves a 2 hours’ trip and a stay of at least a couple of days: you cannot miss shopping in the city center, the splendid view from Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi and an aperitif at Piazza della Signoria, as well as a walk in the old town streets of Genoa.

ABRUZZO

Le opportunità di pesca a Castel di Sangro e in Abruzzo in generale sono numerose; oltre al rinomato fiume Sangro e al Volturno scorrono altri corsi minori ma con portate d’acqua importanti. La pesca a mosca ha una grande tradizione, ben documentata nel Museo della pesca a mosca di Castel di Sangro e supportata in maniera esemplare dalla Scuola italiana di pesca a mosca, che ha la sua sede presso il Museo. La pesca si può praticare da soli, ma il supporto di una buona guida è sempre consigliato, almeno per le prime esperienze.

La location si presta anche a una vacanza itinerante, magari passando per Roma o per Firenze che si raggiungono in poche ore di auto. Ma le piacevoli scoperte dell’Abruzzo non sono solo le sue pregiate acque o i colori delle trote fario autoctone, sono anche i vicoli di paesi come Pescocostanzo e Rivisondoli, risparmiati dal secondo conflitto mon-diale e divenuti oggi patrimonio dell’umanità.

There are lots of fishing opportunities in Castel di Sangro and in Abruzzo in general. Besides the renowned Sangro and Volturno rivers, there are other minor rivers with a considerable flow rate. Fly fishing has a long tradition, which is well documented at the Museum of fly fishing in Castel di Sangro and excellently supported by the Italian School of Fly Fishing, which has its seat in the museum. You can fish on your own but the support of a good guide is always recommended, at least for the first experiences.

The location is also suitable for an itinerant trip which can also cover cities like Rome or Florence reachable in just a few hours by car. However, in Abruzzo you will have the plea-sure to discover not only fine waters and wonderfully colored autochthonous brown trout, but also the narrow streets of villages such as Pescocostanzo and Rivisondoli, which were spared during the Second World War and have now become world heritage sites.
