In general, the students are content with their study. The team also visited Commission on Higher Educaon (CHED) to conduct a meeng with Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan in order to discuss the Future Plan of AUN/SEED-Net. On May 8-13, 2015 AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat, paid a visit to Member Instuons in Indonesia, ITS, ITB, UI, and UGM. The purpose of visit was to promote the support of Graduate Programs, Collaborave Research Programs and Mobility Programs under AUN/SEED-Net project. On May 11 and 13, 2015 the secretariat and the team conducted monitoring session to follow up progress at ITB and UGM, altogether with the tasks to inspect laboratory and dormitory at Member Instuon campus. On May 27, USM welcomed AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat for 2014 monitoring and orientaon visit. Representaves from the Secretariat included Assoc. Prof. Kasem Choocharukul. The team met new students , and also had a chance to talk with ongoing students to monitor the progress of their study. Financial rules and regulaons are discussed interacvely. We would like to announce that ASEAN Engineering Journal (AEJ) Part A is finally indexed in Thai Journal Citaon Index Center (TCI)! Research findings and informaon retrieval from ASEAN Engineering Journal is now expected to be more referenced and accessible for the general public. There are four engineering fields under ASEAN Engineering Journal Part A; Computer & Informaon Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Energy Engineering, and Mechanical & Manufacturing Engineering. Part A, published twice a year in March and September since 2011. The results of screening of AUN/SEED-Net Graduate Degree Program Scholarships have been successfully finalized. The lists of awardees have been disseminated to all Member Instuons by email, also announced on website. For more informaon, please visit www.seed-net.org/applicaon_result.html. UEDA, Chief Advisor of AUN/SEED-Net, received Internaonal Research Award through the collaboraon with ASEAN A UN/SEED-Net Alumni and Japanese Professors accepted for SATREPS project, 4 Million USD budget at maximum for 5 years Messages from New Secretariat Staffs Acng Execuve Director and Chief Advisor, AUN/- SEED-Net Prof. UEDA Tamon received the award of “fib Medal of Merit” from the Internaonal Federaon for Structural Concrete (fib) in May 2015 at the cere- mony in Copenhagen. One of his disnguished services for the award is the iniave to set Asian Concrete Model Code (ACMC) as the first world standard covering maintenance, which influenced other following internaonal standard model codes later such as ISO standard. This achievement has been made in collaboraon especially with ASEAN’s scholars, some of whom are the members of AUN/SEED-Net. He expresses his sincere gratude and seeks further collaboraon with ASEAN partners. The research proposal of AUN/SEED-Net’s acve members, Prof. YOSHIMURA Chihiro from Tokyo Instute of Technology (TIT) and Dr. HUL Seingheng from Instute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), who met through AUN/SEED-Net, was accepted as principal invesgators for SATREPS Project 2015 by JICA and JST. SATREPS (Science and Technology Research Partnership for Sustainable Development) is a Japanese government program that promotes internaonal joint research to address global issues and lead to research outcomes of praccal benefit to both local and global society. The overall goal of the project is to ensure the sustainable development of the country through establishing environmental conservaon plaorm mechanism for Tonle Sap lake, the great lake of Cambodia. The project period is for 5 years. Not only the above menoned two principle invesgators but also many researchers including AUN/SEED-Net alumni of ITC, their former Japanese supervisors, and other faculty members will be involved for the research. Ms. Buchita Binrabo has joined the project as Secretary of Resource Management Unit with effecve from 10 August 2015, “It was very great opportunity to join the AUN-SEED.net. I believed that knowledge and human potenal can develop by educaon and it is become very significant for nowadays especially for our region do need guarantee by standard educaon. As a one of member I would like to work with the team to achieve the objecves of the project.” Mr. TAKASHIMA Jun, Unit Chief/Project Coordinator, joined in the AUN/SEED-Net Project in September 2015. “ I am very pleased to work for further development of ASEAN countries.” Mr. INOUE Kazuma, Unit Chief/Project Coordinator, has completed his 2-year assignment with AUN/- SEED-Net Secretariat in September 2015. “It is my upmost pleasure and precious asset that I could meet many impressive professors who dedicatedly contribute to the network and keen and enthusi- asc alumni and students who are challenging and working hard through SEED-Net. I hope this corpo- raon network and human relaonships last longer and longer in the future too.” Mr. Rahaphum Vaianun has joined the project as Assistance Officer of Resource Management Unit with effecve from 24 August 2015, “It’s my utmost pleasure and honor to be a part of AUN/SEED-Net team. As by this year of 2015 is the me for ASEAN integraon, with the believe that this project could tremendously contribute to the establishment of this ASEAN community by serving as a region-wide collaborave system network for advanced research and educaon altogether. I will put all my efforts to make our achievement robust and possible.”

On April 26-28, representatives from AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat visited Manila, Philippines to conduct an orientation for new students and monitoring session for current students at DLSU and UP. In general, the students are content with their study. The team also visited Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to conduct a meeting with Dr. Patricia B. Licuanan in order to discuss the Future Plan of AUN/SEED-Net.

On May 8-13, 2015 AUN/SEED-Net Secretariat, paid a visit to Member Institutions in Indonesia, ITS, ITB, UI, and UGM. The purpose of visit was to promote the support of Graduate Programs, Collaborative Research Programs and Mobility Programs under AUN/SEED-Net project. Acting Executive Director and Chief Advisor, AUN/-SEED-Net Prof. UEDA Tamon received the award of “fib Medal of Merit” from the International Federation for Structural Concrete (fib) in May 2015 at the cere-mony in Copenhagen. One of his distinguished services for the award is the initiative to set Asian Concrete Model Code (ACMC) as the first world standard covering maintenance, which influenced other following international standard model codes later such as ISO standard. This achievement has been made in collaboration especially with ASEAN’s scholars, some of whom are the members of AUN/SEED-Net. The 3rd AUN/SEED-Net Working Group Meeting was held on 9-10 July 2015, in Bangkok,Thailand.Representatives from Member Institutions tookpart in the meeting and discussed the practical issues for the implementation of the project.

One of the important topic was how to reduce the number of extension and drop-out of students. The secretariat proposed the new screening process of graduate programs which put more emphasis on the intention of the Host Institutions. The new timeframe for the selection process was also explained, it allows related parties more time for screening the students suited for the degree program in each Host Institutions. Participants also discussed the current issues and possible idea of Post Phase 3. Constructive ideas for the future of AUN/-SEED-Net were shared in the meeting.
