Wages for teachers instructing college bound teens in New York are lower than other states. In 2009 the Levi Foundation found that New York teachers earn less than 67% of teachers in Maine. This troubling statistic makes it a challenge to recruit recent Education college graduates and retain the current workforce. What is even more disconcerting is that college bound teens have different needs than a teen entering the workforce out of high school. Teachers with the skills to meet the demands of these teens are in high demand because of their unique training. Each teacher for college bound teens have a graduate degree in education, accomplished at least 10 years of classroom experience, have met most state certifications, and achieved a 5-Star rating from the Department of Education. If New York can increase the wages for teachers that meet these requirements teens will get the instruction they require to perform their best in college. Contact me today to learn more about this problem and what you can do.
