Over All Content Migration Strategy
The Web Communications team will taking ownership of all top level Overview pages (Courts, Self‐Help, Forms &
Rules, Opinions, Programs, Policy & Administration, General Info) and some of the Landing pages migrating
existing content and developing new content, working closely with subject matter experts (SME’s)
Approach 1 – Content Re‐Work after Migration
Approach 1 is a straight port of your existing content to a generic template. In some cases, ported pages will be
fully functional, but may not be visually appealing. Users may experience the following when visiting your pages:
Old design formatting
Old design treatments (Inline styling)
Truncated tables, table rows and line items
Outdated content
Structural inconsistencies
What’s required?
A dedicated resource/lead
o That is close to the content
o The possesses good writing skills for online consumption
o That has web/web metrics experience
Post‐Launch Support:
A member if the Web Communications team will work with SME lead and keep them updated on the
process. In some cases rework will be required even for a straight port
After release, a follow up will meeting will be scheduled Pre‐Launch Support
A member if the Web Communications team will work closely with the lead and guide them through the
process. This includes:
o Providing recommendations
o Providing examples
o Providing tools, guides and resources
o Review cycles
o Metrics support
Approach 2 – Content Re‐Work prior to Migration
Approach 2 will ultimately provide a good user experience by utilizing the new template designs and modular
elements. Web Communications will be prioritizing the focus areas and work with closely with the SME’s.
Although approach 2 is the desirable approach, it requires a considerable amount content rework that consists of
the following:
Structural refinements
Content massaging
Template mapping

o The possesses good writing skills for online consumption
o That has web/web metrics experience

A member if the Web Communications team will work closely with the lead and guide them through the

Content Migration Steps:
Step 1: Review your metrics and take inventory of your content
Identify the high‐traffic areas and focus on those pages first
Identify low‐traffic areas and flag pages for archive or deletion
Step 2: Review and massage your existing content: tailor it for online consumption
Streamline your content, the less text to scan, the more likely an individual will glean
the key message
Reduce redundancies: group and consolidate related content
Make your material scannable: make it easy for your reader to extract the information
they came looking for and the key message you want to get across
Break content up into chucks for easy scanning
Analyze links embedded in your content and leverage the right & left side modules
available
Step 3: Migrate your content: use the collection forms provided in you package
Reference the migration guides to help you understand the different template and
module options available
Use the collection forms to capture your massaged content
Use the collection forms to capture your new content
Contact the Web Communications Team for assistance or to address any questions you
may have
Step 4: Forward all collection forms and supporting documents to Web Comm for review
Forward collection forms, supporting documents and flagged pages for to the Web
Communications Team to review
Work on your lower‐level and low‐priority pages
Wait for further instructions from the Web Comm Team
