Preface

Documentum Content Services for Siebel Installation Guide explains the requirements and proceduresfor the installation of Content Services for Siebel 5.3 on a client machine. It also contains informationregarding requirements for registry and environmental settings. This guide does not cover either howto use Content Services for Siebel or Siebel implementation procedures. For more information on theintegration or usage of Content Services for Siebel, refer to Documentum Content Services for Siebel UserGuide and Documentum Content Services for Siebel Implementer Guide.

Intended AudienceThis installation guide is written for users, system administrators or databaseadministrators familiar with Documentum, Siebel, Windows 2000/2003/XP, and with theuse of InstallShield routines. It is also written for those who provide help desk or otherlevels of support for the Content Services for Siebel. It is assumed that users, systemsadministrators or database administrators have been properly trained and have theexperience required to use Siebel, Documentum and Content Services for Siebel.

Chapter 1Introduction

Content Services for Siebel is the new name for eConnector for Siebel. However, for backwardcompatibility, you may see “eConnector” in places like folders and docapps. The use of “eConnector”in places the end user does not see is intentional.

Content Services for Siebel is an integration solution that combines Siebel’s Customer RelationshipManagement (CRM) features with Documentum’s content management functionality and makesDocumentum’s content management functionality accessible from within a Siebel application.Content Services for Siebel allows the enterprise to be fully coordinated between front office and backoffice activities. Workflow, document management, imaging, and web content management can bemanaged in a closed-loop marketing, sales, service, and support application.

Chapter 2Installing Content Services for Siebel

This section is for users who have already installed Documentum Desktop Client and wish to installContent Services for Siebel.

The installer installs all files necessary to run Content Services for Siebel on the user’s local machine.For complete installation, files must also be installed on the Siebel server(s).

To install Content Services for Siebel:

1. Run Setup.exe. Splash screen appears (During this time, the installer checks thesystem and system resources).The Setup.exe file is available in the Content Services for Siebel CD-ROM in the‘Stand Alone Client Installation’ folder.

The Welcome page appears.

2. Click Next. The Choose Destination Location screen appears.

3. To change the default location for saving Content Services for Siebel files, clickBrowse. The Choose Folder dialog box appears.

Select the desired path and click OK.

4. Click Next. The Content Services for Siebel User Temporary Directory screenappears.

5. Click Next to continue with installation.

6. The Installer Progress Bar appears showing the files copying to the system.

7. When the files are copied a message box appears informing you that the CSSTemporary directory is successfully created.

Note: If an error occurs during the creation of temp folder, a pop message isdisplayed as shown in the screen.

Irrespective of the error the setup creates the temp folder, but you have to manuallyassign full access to all the users.

8. Click OK. A message box appears stating that the setup is complete.

9. Click OK to close the installer.

Chapter 3Internet Explorer Security

This chapter describes a number of security options that must be turned on in IE for Content Servicesfor Siebel to work effectively.

1. Open Internet Explorer.

2. Select Tools→ Internet Options. The Internet Options dialog box appears.

3. Click the Security tab to open the corresponding page.

4. Click the Local Intranet icon.

5. Click the Custom Level button. The Security Settings window opens.

Note: Do not change the path of the eConnector for Siebel folder.

6. Ensure that the Enable button is selected for the following settings:• Download Signed ActiveX controls• Download unsigned ActiveX controls• Initialize and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe• Run ActiveX controls and plug-ins• Script ActiveX controls marked safe for scripting

7. Click OK when finished.

Note: To set new security settings, close and open IE again.

Uninstalling the Content Services forSiebel

To uninstall Content Services for Siebel:

1. Click Start → Settings → Control Panel.

2. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

3. Select eConnector for Siebel.

4. Click the Change/Remove button.

5. Click Yes in the Confirm File Deletion message box.

6. Click Yes to All in the Remove Shared File message box.

7. Click Yes in the confirmation message box.

8. Click OK.
