Flat PlanThis is a flat plan of my content page, it is very rough and not very detailed, however it does give a clear view of how my contents page will look. The design is simple and ordered, which I believe will look most effective when producing my contents page.I

1st draftThis is the first draft of my contents page. It is very similarly laid out like my flat plan, having the banner going across the top of the screen which holds the heading ‘Pop Inside’, and having the front cover being displayed again on this page, to make it clear for the readers to see and know what pages the main features appear on. The boxes are all located at the bottom of the page, however unlike the flat plan there are four boxes rather than three, which allows more information and more articles to be displayed. The blue star in the bottom, centre of the page is also very effective because it captures the audiences attention encouraging them to read that article. It not only stand out because of the bright colour used, but also because the rest of the shapes on this page are boxes, so this difference is emphasised making it stand out further.I say that the rest of the page is only covered in the square shape, although in the bottom, right corner there is a heart displaying the page number which I think looks really effective because it will attract the young girls, this magazines target audience.I do like this draft however I feel that it could do with having a few more photos or other features on the page simply to add greater detail and therefore interest for the audience.

Again to make my contents page I used the editing programme Photoshop. One of the good things about Photoshop is the wide range of rich colours that they have to offer. This feature was really helpful when producing my magazine because it allowed me to create a colourful magazine that would attract the younger audience. I particularly liked it for my contents page, when I had to create a highlighted effect on my text, to create varying interest and to develop the conventions of a music magazine. To do this I used a box tool and then I painted it this bright yellow colour, these where then placed over my chosen text creating an interesting effect.

Final VersionThis is the final version of my contents page. I am pleased with this page, because I believe it follows the conventions of a real music magazine well. There is a great deal of colours and articles that would interest and attract the audience that this magazine is targeted at.I believe the use of adding the front cover to the contents page and having the page numbers coming out of it, is a very clever technique because not only does it create a well designed contents page, but it also allows the readers to see where the main articles are featured within the magazine in an easy way. Plus it is one of the main conventions of a contents page used by a music magazine with a similar target audience. I feel the photo that I have added in the bottom, left corner creates a varied page, as well as adding more visual impact. The four boxes that have the four chosen categories work well on this page and definitely run in with the theme and the target audience of this magazine.I do feel this contents page should have had a light coloured background, because it does seem a bit washed out, but apart from that I am happy with my contents page and believe it is an effective, informative page.
