Production Phases- Contents Page

I chose to do my contents page as a double page because I felt it would be more effective and again make my magazine more unique from the other out on the market. To start off my contents page, I added my mast head from the front cover- thus allowing the audience to recognise it from the front cover and therefore it is more likely to be remembered. I then added the word “contents” in a similar font so that the magazine had definition between each aspect of the page and flowed together throughout.

Next, I used a brush that was already installed onto Photoshop and added it to the underneath of the contents text. This again continues my house style and complimentary colours and, as on the front cover, it adds texture and makes the text stand out from the masthead. Furthermore, I also started to add page numbers- coloured purple to further my house style- and also added the text which the page will be about. I kept the text black as I didn’t

want to over colour the page and make it to complicated to follow with the audience’s eyes.

I then continued to add my page numbers and their descriptions throughout both pages when I found that it wasn’t having the effect that I wanted to gain. It appeared to simple and wasn’t portraying the attitude and connotations of my target audience- which I wanted to show through aspects of the contents.

Therefore, I chose to change my contents page to the above. I made the masthead bigger as I thought this was an important aspect that needed to be noticed by my target audience and I moved all the original pages and their numbers I had created into one simple line as to add ease when navigating round the page.

To finalise my contents page, I added a large nine to the right hand page, as to attract as lot of attention to it because it contains a lot of features, a USP of my magazine. Moreover, I added the features of this page in a different text so that they again stand out and attract the target audiences attention. Also, the features of this page relate to things which my target audience would like to see- found from my interview. Lastly, I used a brush to create a dotted effect over both pages as to again relate to the connotations of the target audience- the “I don’t care” attitude.

Overall, I wanted to create a contents page that was spread over two pages, but I wanted them to be different pages in their own ways- therefore I wanted them to relate, but each one to have aspects that set it apart from the other. They are the same, but different.
