Dear Students, Teachers and Parents, With great pride we witness the growth of The Sky World School as it evolves from being a School to an
Institution to a School of Tomorrow. Thank you for being a part of the wonderful Sky Community where we are in the process of building a world class learning community.
Whenever I have occasional chance to communicate with you, I will pick one aspect that I feel is relevant and will speak about it. On this occasion I would like to bring to your attention the core of the Sky Learning System as designed by our esteemed Educationist, Mrs. Santosh Bhandari.
Now that as every field witnesses growth in its best practices, so does the field of school education. One of the biggest shifts that has happened in school education from our times is the complete shift from Rote Learning to Experiential Learning. While Rote Learning was a leftover over of the Industrial Area where workers needed to retain some information and were mere clones for assembly line style production; today we no longer live in an Industrial Age but an Information Age.
As a result the Best Practices required for creating a best in- class Education Model for a student has also undergone complete transformation. The child today has access to all the information around the planet at the touch of phone screen; he needs to learn how to ask the right questions, how to process the information, how to analyze it, how to acquire knowledge using it and, finally and most importantly, how to apply it.
And this is known as Inquiry Based Teaching Learning Method that our talented Sky Teachers use as a basis to implement each lesson for their students. This is an important Approach that serves as a building block of the Sky Learning System designed by our chief educationist.
Sincerely, Manu Bhandari MBA (HEC) , MSc (LSE) Founder Director

Dear Students If we as students of this school strive harder and set higher goals for ourselves then the sky is the limit and there is nothing that can stop us from getting there. I firmly believe that you have the potential to excel in every field you undertake and every challenge you face. This Newsletter is an evidence of your resolve to emulate your teachers, parents, and seniors. From your work on and off the field and in and out of the classroom, art, sports, academics and various competitions and activities that you have participated in, you have shown your true mettle. I want to remind you that on this foundation lies the whole superstructure of morals, sanskaars and values. We work hard to achieve our success but sometimes neglect the things that make us what we are everyday: a good person. Remember that you are the cornerstone of a new world whose birth is imminent, for if the cornerstone is weak, then the whole structure will be weak and vulnerable. Keep it up my dear young stars and all the best . Ankit Goel BSBA(BU), MS Director

Sky Editorial Board Welcome to the first quarterly edition of the annual magazine of Sky World School
.We are really proud and exuberant to acclaim that we are ready with all new hopes and hues to
bring out the school magazine, which is going to surely unfold the unraveled world of the most
unforgettable and precious moments of the school.
The magazine is to be viewed as a launch pad for the children’s creative urges to
blossom naturally. As the saying goes, mind like parachute works best when opened. This
humble initiative is to set the budding minds free, allowing them to roam free in the realm of
imagination and experience to create a world of beauty in words.
The school is an incarnation of self-respect, love, affection, sensibility;
responsibility and compassion which puts the students into a “State of flow” and makes them
genuinely want to learn. We recognize, appreciate, applaud and foster the fine blend of
sensibilities in a child changing a negative outlook from drab and demoralized to bright and
expectant. This school attains its eminence in the first place through the achievement of
children. The magazine also espouses the School spirit which is built up within the school
through the collective actions, thoughts and aspirations. All these, we believe would spur
higher growth and enterprise in children.
The enthusiastic write ups of our young writers are indubitably sufficient to
hold the interest and admiration of the readers. This souvenir is indeed a pious attempt to make
our budding talents give shape to their creativity and learn the art of being aware because we
believe that or success depends upon our power to perceive, the power to observe and the
power to explore. We are sure that the positive attitude, hard work, sustained efforts and
innovative ideas exhibited by our young buddies will surely stir the mind of the readers and
take them to the surreal world of unalloyed joy and pleasure. We have put in relentless efforts
to bring excellence to this treasure trove.
Happy reading!!
Editorial Board.

A SOLDIER WITH NO FEAR
They fly so high in the
sky with no fear and
have guts to bear
any tear and every fear
With no greed the
love for us is there and
they sacrifice everything
just for our care
Without knowing us they care
Just like their family is here
and face the tears
with a big smile near
We can just give a big
salute to the brave soldiers
who fly so high with no fear

NEVER SAY NEVER
One thing as a child I have learnt
There are many hardships that would curse.
One day you would be on
a road with no right or left.
Just a way that
would lead to death.
To arrive from the heavenly abode
We ask for help from god.
One thought always strikes our mind
Is to say no to that particular flight.
Our mind should be hard and stiff
To never say never and be a hill.
We want to fly high in the sky
If we say never the sky would wave gud byee.
Once u have aimed
The sky would claim.
And there would be no turning back
As your heart would be under attack.
You would give everything u adept
Just go ahead and accept.
The hardships would get ruined
U would feel so illumined.
Don’t ever wait to think and endeavor
Just say yes and never say never.

Friendship
You were there when no one was You were there when life paused You are the one who makes my life Easier and tough at the same time
We laugh together over nothing You catch me like a pro when I am bluffing You scold me when there's a need And give me your dress whenever I plead
When I count my blessings, I count you twice I remember when I messed up and you gave me advice The times when I cry on your lap the whole night And you led me to the way which was right
You are my mom, sister, brother and father You are one that makes me mad and bothered One universe, nine planets and seven seas I m glad that I found you and you found me!

SEA
As I stand here by the sea, It seems to whisper things to me, About the moon, about the stars, Saturn, Jupiter and Mars, I feel the challenge of the sea, And it’s quite a mystery. To its power, it’s source of food, To its ever changing mood, Men still search and men still find , Things that open up their minds. This sound of surf now in my ears, Will still be here for countless years, And other men will come to stand, Here upon this windswept sand. BY – Mansi , Class IV A

THE SKY ECO CLUB
Eco Clubs play an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation. The activities under the scheme include: 1. Motivate the students to keep their surroundings green and clean by undertaking plantation of trees. 2. Promote ethos of conservation of water by minimizing the use of water. 3. Motivate students to imbibe habits and life style for minimum waste generation, source separation of waste and disposing the waste to the nearest storage point. 4. Educate students to create awareness amongst public and sanitary workers, so as to stop the indiscriminate burning of waste which causes respiratory diseases. 5. Sensitize the students to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them in public places as they choke drains and sewers, cause water logging and provide breeding ground for mosquitoes. 6. Organize tree plantation programs, awareness programs such as Quiz, essay, painting competitions, rallies, nukkad natak etc. regarding various environmental issues and educate children about re-use of waste material & preparation of products out of waste. 7. Organize Nature Trail in Wild Life Sanctuaries/Parks/Forest areas to know about the Bio-diversity In our school we have an eco-club, which performs activities to save the environment, like planting trees, organizing poster competitions on various environmental issues. Eco club is a platform on which we got the knowledge about environment. The meaning of an eco club in a group who works to contribute to improving environmental conditions. They offer programs and activities to encourage others to reduce pollution, plant trees, and more. Eco club or green club is a voluntary group which promotes the participation of students in learning about, and improving their environment. A green club is a means by which students and youth can organize themselves to learn more and this issue, and also take action to improve their immediate environment. THE SKY SCHOOL WANTS TO TAKE A STEP FORWARD BY INVOLVING PARENTS IN THIS SOCIAL CAUSE. We invite you to submit your photographs and reports of the following: In the month of September we will make our students aware of conserve water. We are going to do an activity on it. A group of children and a teacher will make a map of the School and will find out the sources of water and also the usage of water. How much water do we use daily? How much rainfall was there this year? How much rain harvesting we could do? Is ratio of rain water harvesting and usage of water is equal? The same you can also do for your house and can submit the report and photographs in the school. You will be given certificates of appreciation.

Rabindranath Tagore – “Education enables the mind to find out the ultimate truth, which gives us
the wealth of inner light and love and gives significance to life.”
The goal of education is also to form children into human persons committed to work for the
creation of human communities of love, fellowship, freedom, justice and harmony. Students are to
be moulded only by making them experience the significance of these values in the school itself.
Happy lives are usually made up of a combination of positive emotions and meaningfulness—both
of which contribute greatly to a child’s learning process and well-being. Emotions play an integral
role in education, affecting students’ motivation, attention, social functioning, and ethical decision-
making. Enjoyment of learning motivates students to put forth greater effort, whereas boredom only
decreases efforts. Anxiety lessens students’ ability to problem-solve, but hope and pride can
increase self-efficacy. Thus, creating safe and caring classrooms and designing engaging lessons,
both of which promote positive emotions in students, should be high on a teacher’s agenda.
"If we want our students to become happy adults, schools have to focus more on students' well-
being than academic success."
Most parents want their children to be happy, healthy, and confident, but schools only focus on
achievement, discipline, and academic skills. To fix this gap , The new curriculum based on human-
centric education which includes meditation, value education and mental exercises is to be focused.
Our Sky curriculum is purely activity based . A periodic assessment of children’s progress is made
using a happiness index. The main aim of this curriculum is to train the young minds to make them
happy, confident and content human beings.
‘India lacks the happiness quotient in its development process. As per the World Happiness Report,
2017, India ranked 122 out of 155 countries evaluated. The report calls for attention as one of the
fastest growing economies in the world is slowly turning out to be a sad place to live in. Therefore,
at this juncture, what India needs is an environment which keeps people happy. It is also recognized
that the school is the place which inculcates an environment where students not only learn
academically, but also indulge in their all-round development, and this has a greater impact in
learners' lives in the long run. Thus it is non-negotiable to create a happy environment from early
childhood in all schools of India.’
The world spiritual leader and the Nobel Laureate his holiness Dalai Lama exhorted the people to
respect human values and sentiments to generate ‘happiness ‘among all to further the establish
peace, harmony and discard, hatred, jealousy and violence and destruction. He underlined the need
of obtaining combine ancient and modern knowledge in order to give real, wonderful and useful
knowledge to the students in the educational institutions.
‘Happiness Curriculum’ is a boon for all of us as the students after completing their education will
come out with full of energy, knowledge, happiness and confidence and they will create such an
atmosphere of brotherhood, harmony, peace and ensure fullest development society.
Following are the substance of Happiness curriculum:
The curriculum is aimed to instill self-awareness and to stimulate good mental health, character,
and resilience.
The happiness curriculum would improve cognitive ability of the students and reduce anxiety,
depression, and intolerance among them.
The curriculum also prepares the students to face challenges and find solution to the social
problems.
The curriculum includes various interventions like meditation, joyful exercises, indoor games,
storytelling, group discussions, skits, individual and group presentations, activities for rapport
building and team-work.

The Crooked Arms
Many are sheltered in all seasons,
Many a cold hearth warmth,
Oh! These crooked arms of mine!
Tired eyes rejoiced and hungry mouths fed,
Severed and wounded at every blossom,
Oh! These crooked arms of in!
Yet you emerge stronger than before,
Yet this is not the last I give,
You say!
Oh! These crooked arms of mine!
I bow to you,
For I stand revered because of you,
Or else my existence was a question,
Oh! These crooked arms of mine!!!!

“THE VOCABULARY OF MATHEMATICS”
Vocabulary instruction is essential to effective math instruction. Not only does it includes teaching math-specific terms such as "percent" or "decimal," but it also includes understanding the difference between the mathematical definition of a word and other definitions of that word.
In this problem, the student is instructed to "find x." The student obviously knew the meaning of the word "find" because he/she "found" it on the page and circled it. The student even put a note on the page to help the teacher in locating the lost "x". The student understood the meaning of "find" in one context, but not in the appropriate mathematical context.
Lack of familiarity with the words hindered the ability to do the math problem and comprehending math assignments. Following is a list of tips for explicitly teaching mathematical academic vocabulary:
Demonstrate that vocabulary can have multiple meanings. Help students understand the different meanings of words such as "table" and "quarter," as well as how to use them correctly in a mathematical context.
Provide visual cues, graphic representations, gestures, realia, and pictures. Offer students the chance to work with objects like teachers table and notice board and images in order to master vocabulary. For example, we should create a Math Word Wall that has three parts: key vocabulary, "in your own words" definitions, and a variety of ways to portray a function. For example, multiplication is portrayed by the following symbols: x, *, and ( ).
Identify key phrases or new vocabulary to pre-teach. This strategy will help students decide which math function they should apply. Example: "more than" means "add."take away means less than. Many means multiplication and so on.......
Use manipulatives purposefully. For example If I want to teach mensuration, math cubes to be very useful in having students represent the numbers in the problems and then manipulate the cubes to get the answer. She used the cubes and the terms "hot" and "cold" numbers when teaching with the concept of negative numbers. Students would use the red cubes as "hot" or positive numbers and the blue cubes as "cold" or negative numbers. As students laid out the number of hot cubes and cold cubes represented, they could easily see if the answer would be a positive or negative number by which color had the most cubes. A problem such as -2 + 1 = -1 would look like this:
The student then removed pairs of cubes — one red, one blue — until they could no longer
remove any blocks. The remaining blocks represent the answer.
By using these strategies , one should be able to communicate mathematical ideas among themselves.
So, here the rol0065 of teacher is to plant the seed of knowledge that will grow FOREVER.
