• The plain simple background entices the reader more to the writing and pictures on the page; it is less of a distraction. The pictures stand out more to the reader and they are more vivid and clear. The writing is black and green, they have out the “is” in green as it is the title of the magazine. This splash of colour will also appeal to the children but it is a formal colour scheme. They writers have been very clever in adding the name of the magazine into a word; this interests the readers and also stands out on the page. On top of the page is a quote ‘Utopia’ is constructed ‘in our mind’ where it establishes a point of reference,

offers a clear alternative and encourages debate about issues of love, beauty, truth.

But it is not enough to dream, we must try to go beyond the wishful thinker’s

‘if only’ to propose pathways to the achievement of our dreams. This will encourage the students to achieve their dreams and promote a positive attitude. A quote is very appropriate in a school magazine as it has a beneficial effect on the students. This makes it more obvious that this is a school magazine as the expressions are often utilised to encourage students to work harder and strive to the best of their ability.

• The graphics are positioned on the right hand side of the page vertically. This makes the magazine clear and easy to look at the images. They are laid out very formally but the pictures themselves present a very informal feel as there are people laughing and children playing. The images present various photos which include children playing and adults socialising which would appeal to both adults and children.

• The content mentioned all seems to be relevant to the students, adults and teachers such as “Educate together, learn together," Science matters”, and” International Schools Theatre Association programme”. This black writing stands out against the white background and makes it clear for the audience to read.

• The font chosen was very basic and not so appealing to the younger generation. Although it is easy to read and goes well against the white background, it still comes across as quite dull.

• The layout is also basic and not very modern. A splash of colour is needed to appeal to the niche audience. The photographs look good but could have been presented in a more striking way. This layout and choice of colour will not appeal to everyone therefore limit the amount of people reading it.

• Overall I believe that this contents page is appealing to parents and teachers as it is basic and holds a lot of information. However it is too formal for the students and would need a splash of colour to entice them into reading it.
