Page 1: Contents Page Analysis Presentation

Three Contents Page Analysis.

Page 2: Contents Page Analysis Presentation

Use of colour. Simple primary shades help give it the “fun” and slightly “poppy” feel.

The page is text led, the images are relatively small and there are not many of them. There is also quite a lot of empty background space, a red boarder, black text boxes' and white background.

Simple functional layout, pages arranged down the centre in numerical order to aid the reader through the magazine.

Regular features of the magazine found in the left third where they are easily visible.

Uses a combination of sans-serif fonts e.g. the NME logo and serif fonts for the main body text.

Simple white, black and red colours. Keeps a consistent house style, is striking and yet simple. Also suggests adult and more mature themes.

Image led with a huge main photograph, taking up 2/3rds of the page + a smaller image in the bottom right corner.

Monthly features placed at the bottom of the page. This gives priority to the headlining articles for this particular month.

Date, issue number and contents page header at the top of the page. Reverses the white / black text to background format and makes it separate from the other headers on the page.

No space given over to advertisements, all available page space is used for the magazine itself.

Another simple white, black and red design.

One simple image of the issues main story takes up all the background space on the page. This tells us the magazine depends on one particular story to sell copies.

Black text of contents themselves are on the right third, giving priority to the main image.

The main stories page number and text are in the middle of the page and larger than any other text.

In the photograph its self one man is pointing to the page number of the story, leading the eye right to it.

Black and white in the photograph matches the black and white text to background format.
