Vice Chancellor Message
The knowledge is widely spread everywhere, which uses newer technologies and skills that provides us
the emerging avenues. The horizons of professional activities are expanding and hence today there is
much more scope for the younger generations to uncap their talents and touch greater heights of
achievement.
Since educational situation in our country has become quite dynamic and competitive, we have to be
ready and equipped with the required abilities and capacities to conquer these newer fields of information
and to master newer techniques and skills. At the same time, one must realized that there are many
challenges in this emerging situation.
We at University of Kota are committed to provide the excellent education, practical training and
facilities in the career you have chosen to pursue. To achieve this, we continuously update our courses
and syllabi, keeping in view the changing needs of different professions, industries and social landscape
as such.
As we look to the future one thing is certain – knowledge and skills will be the key resources and will be
highly sought-after within India and around the world. Our challenge is to generate ideas that will benefit
society, to educate and train people to work in the fields where they will be valued both for their
specialised knowledge, and for their ability to research, communicates and solve problems, provide you

University of Kota, Kota has 2(f) and 12(b) status of UGC and recently, NIFR of MHRD rated this 12
year old University by 78th position that reflects its image of a leading University. University emerges as
an excellent center of learning and well recognized at the national and International level, since its
inception in the year 2003. What we have achieved so far is definitely commendable. But, still there is a
scope for us to become better and to reach higher pinnacles of academic excellence. I have no doubt that
through the regular and professional courses like BBA, BCA BSc/Msc( Microbiology and IT), etc, we
will be able to achieve these objectives in cooperation with our faculties with expertise knowledge,
experience and caring attitude and outstanding infrastructure.
I appeal to the students in the words of Swami Vivekanand, for becoming a successful in all walks of
life, “Take up one idea. Make that one idea your life - think of it, dream of it, and live on that idea.

University Profile
The University of Kota was established in the year 2003 by the Government of Rajasthan through
'The University of Kota Act- 2003' and notified vide State Government Gazette No. F.2(12)/Vidhi-
2/2003 dated 7th June, 2003. The University came into existence through enactment of Government
of Rajasthan vide order No. F.21(2)Edu-4/2003 dated September 09, 2003 under the provision of
Section-4(1) and 50(1) of 'The University of Kota Act, 2003'. The University has been recognised by
the UGC under section 2(f) of the UGC Act, 1956 (vide notification No.F.9-23/2003(CPP-I) dated 23rd
February 2004) and under section 12(B) of the UGC Act, 1956 (Item No. 5.17 dated 22nd October
2012). Recently, the University has been ranked 78th by National Institutional Ranking
Framework(NIRB) of the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of
India.
Presently, around 170 colleges with approximately 2,20,000 students of six districts of the state,
namely: Kota, Bundi, Jhalawar, Baran, Karauli, and Sawai Madhopur are under the territorial
jurisdiction of the University. The University has six faculties, namely, Arts, Commerce and
Management, Education, Law, Science and Social Science. Various academic programmes are being
running at the campus and in the affiliated colleges of the University. The courses, namely, MBA, MIB,
MCA, MSW, LLM, M. P. Ed., M. Com (Accounting & Finance), Integrated BSc-MSc (Physics), MSc
(Organic, Analytical Chemistry, Industrial Chemistry, Physics-Energy, Wildlife Life, and Life Sciences),
M. Tech.-Solar Energy, MA/MSc (Geography), MA (Development studies, Heritage, Tourism,
Museuology & Archaeology), MPhil (Chemistry, Physics, Commerce, Geography, History, Political
Science, Sociology and Library & Information Science), and PhD (Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics,
Zoology, Botany, Home Science, Accountancy & Business Statistics, Business
Administration/Management, Economic Administration & Financial Management, Law, English,
Hindi, Sanskrit, History, Music, Urdu, Drawing & Painting, Public Administration, Political Science,
Economics, Sociology, Geography, Education, Library & Information Science, etc.) are being presently
running in the University campus. The University of Kota is a growing University of the State and
unfolding its wings in the area of teaching & research. Faculty recruitments have been done for the
various teaching and non-teaching positions during the 2012-2013 academic session for
strengthening the teaching & research environment in the University.

The University had national and international collaborations by making MoUs (e.g. Centre for Climate
Science & Policy Research, Linköping University, Sweden, Lyceum of the Philippines University,
Manila and Academic Staff College, DCM Shriram Consolidated Limited, Kota, Jai Narayan Vyas
University, Jodhpur) for empowering the research in various fields. In continuation of upgrading the
research quality, various national and international collaborators/research groups visited the
different departments of the University and gave their suggestions/inputs. The University is now
determined for meaningful and socially relevant research in the thrust areas of respective disciplines
and enrolling students for PhD programme through entrance examination as per the UGC guidelines.
So far, the University has awarded more than six hundred PhD degrees and around five hundred
scholars are pursuing PhD in different disciplines with around three hundred approved research
supervisors. The University departments are regularly organizing state and national level workshops,
seminars, conferences and publishing their research articles in the journals / books / book chapters of
national and international repute (John Wiely, Taylor and Francis, Springer, etc). Faculties of department
of pure and applied chemistry of University, has national and international patents in their name and many more are
under process of to be granted.The University is receiving a large number of projects of more than three cores
from different departments of Govt. of India, Govt. of Rajasthan and other national and international
funding agencies and recognized by the Department of Science and Industrial Research (DSIR),
Department of Science & Technology, Govt. of India as an upcoming research centre in Rajasthan.
The University is taking steps towards its future growth as a multi-faculty, multi-department
organization with an unstinted emphasis on its aim on all-round development of students with quality
education. Therefore, School of Heritage and department of Hindi with its teaching and non-
teaching staffs have been sanctioned by the UGC/Government of Rajasthan. In continuation to this,
some other proposals including new Departments, namely, Zoology, Department of Pure and Applied
Bioscience, Department of Pure and Applied Mathematics, Department of Humanities, Department of
Education have also been submitted in the UGC under its XII five year plan. The University has
recently got a sanction of Rs 1.25 crores for the establishment of the Department of Hindi and Rs.
1.75 crore for development of eight lane swimming pool the Department of Pure and Applied
Chemistry has received DST grant of Rs. 95 lakh under " FIST programme". The motto of the
University is "Satyam, Shivam and Sundarum" means the search for truth, the quest for welfare and the
urge for the best.

It represents the wheel, the symbol of progress & movement. Turquoise Blue - It symbolises the
vastness of the blue sky. The University would endeavour to impart the vast and immense
knowledge within each discipline, blue colour represents imagination & creativity.
Inner Circle :
Combination of Cadmium yellow and white is representative of wisdom earned with poise and
dignity. The name of the University is written in blue which represents knowledge creativity.
Central Circle :
Prussian Blue - It represents the depth of the oceans. The University that the students emerge as
more deeper individuals. Thus, the three circles indicate at a wholesome & all round development
of individual traits and personality of the students.
The Shloka : The Shloka च means For one's own salvation and for the
welfare of the world.
Deepak :
Red, Chrome Yellow & Leaf Green - The Institution will serve as a guiding light to the future
generation who are the guardians of our sacred culture and heritage. The three wicks three green
leaves & three dots represent the year 2003 the foundation year of the institution. 2003 is written
in brilliant Green which symbolises freshness, youth and vitality. The University with the latest
inputs of knowledge will strive to maintain freshness in all the disciplines.
The Hood & Scroll : In white & black are representative of higher education.
The Athlete bearing the torch : shows the institution drive to create landmarks in the fields of
sports & athletics along with all other extra-curricular activities of the University. The torch is
symbolic of the urge to win & succeed always.
The Stars : The two stars on either side in orange will be an embodiment of several attributes like
brilliance, salvation achievement & success – all attained through knowledge.

Date-wise schedule for admission process of professional courses running in affiliated colleges for
session 2016-2017, is summarised as follows:
(a) College wise information of courses and approved seats has to be taken from the
Academic Section of the University to verify the information received from various
colleges.
(b) A meeting of the representative of the colleges should be commenced on June 29, 2016
(Wednesday) 3.00 pm.
(c) Information bulletin of Professional courses along with Admission form shall be
available on University website (www.uok.ac.in) for various Professional courses from
July 14, 2016, (Thursday). The cost of Admission form shall be Rs. 500/- only. This
admission fee shall be deposited only through Demand Draft (DD) in favour of Registrar,
University of Kota, payable at Kota and Admission Form along with DD shall be
deposited in concerned college.
(d) Last date for depositing the duly filled in admission forms in respective the college shall
be July 30, 2016 (Saturday).
(e) Display of merit list along with waiting list up to 100% on August 2, 2016 (Tuesday) by
respective colleges/institutes
(f) Prescribed fee from the eligible candidates shall be deposited by DD (No other modes of
payment will be applicable) in favour of the competent authority of the college
concerned. The last date of deposition of fee shall be August 5, 2016, 2016 (Friday).
(g) Submission of the finalized list of admitted candidates along with the application forms
Fee and relevant documents of the candidates and DD of Administrative charges from
college to University by August 6, 2016 (Saturday).
2. All colleges shall prepare a DD (No other modes of payment will be applicable) of total
amount (calculated @ Rs. 2000/-, as an Administrative Charges per candidate admitted) in
favour of the Registrar, University of Kota payable at Kota along with the finalized list and
duly filled in application forms in respect of each of the admitted candidates by August 6,
2016 (Saturday), failing, which the admission of the candidates shall be denied.

4. General Guidelines:
(i) The colleges are instructed not to entertain application form and the demand draft of the fee
from any non-eligible candidate(s) in any case. Also, the number of admitted candidates must
be strictly according to the maximum number of seats allotted to the respective college(s).
Non-compliance of this will invite severe action against the college(s).
(ii) College/Institute shall give legal undertaking that if any documents submitted by the
candidate is found fake/illegitimate, his/her admission shall be cancelled.
(iii) Reservation for SC/ST/OBC/SOBC/PH /Kashmiri migrant candidates shall be as per
Government of Rajasthan policy / as per direction of Hon'ble High Court of Rajasthan /
Supreme Court of India.
(iv) Benefits of sports, NSS, NCC, Rovers/scouting/guiding, etc. (except in the LLM. course)
shall be given as per University/Government rules after submission of certificate from the
competent authority. The benefit (which is maximum) of only one activity shall be
admissible
(v) A student who has secured his / her percentage of marks without the addition of concession /
weight-age marks shall rank higher in order of merit than the one who has secured the same
percentage of marks with the addition of the concession / weightage marks allowed to him /
her under the rules.
(vi) Non-Rajasthan Applicants (NRA): NRA should have secured a first division (60%) and
otherwise eligible. However, the condition of obtaining a First Division may be relaxed in the
case of:
(a) Female candidates migrating to Rajasthan on account of their marriage to a resident of
Rajasthan,
(b) Male candidates, who after passing the qualifying examination from any other University,
have passed a three-year course from this University, and
(c) Son / Daughter / Wife of a serving employee of the Central Government or a Public Sector
Organization posted in Rajasthan. They will be considered for admission on the basis of
merit at par with candidates from Rajasthan.
(d) Non-Rajasthan Students securing a second division from other states may also be considered
subject to the availability of seats after all the eligible students from Rajasthan and first
division holders from other States have been accommodated. The rule of minimum
percentage, wherever applicable, shall be followed.
(vii) Admission to various colleges shall be offered to those students who has passed the
qualifying examination from the Central or State Boards/ UGC recognized University.
(viii) NTS Applicants: National Talent Scholars (selected by the NCERT) may be admitted
outright if they fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions after production of certificate from
the competent authority. Only such NTS candidates shall get admission who are eligible to
draw the scholarships.(if there is an entrance test than such candidate should also clear the
test)
(ix) Admission of in-service Candidates: In-service candidates may be allowed admission to
the various courses on production of a 'No Objection-Cum-Character Certificate' from their
employers, without which their applications shall not be considered. This certificate must be
produced within the stipulated time period. 'In-service candidates' refers to employees of
Central or State Government, Statutory bodies, Govt. controlled undertakings, Banks and
employees of Govt. recognized and aided colleges, institutions and registered firms. (x) Jurisdiction of court cases: All court cases shall be subjected to the jurisdiction of Kota and
not any other place.
(xi) Any candidate against whom a FIR has been lodged by university or college or any competent
authority /officer of University/College shall not be eligible for the admission as a regular
student in any department of the University. any student who has been found guilty in any

kind of misbehaviour with teacher or authority /official of University shall be debarred from
seeking admission in any department of the university
(xii) The Colleges will strictly follow the schedule regarding the admission process as given by the
University. No request will be entertained to increase the dead line/last date of the given in
present schedule.
(xiii) A candidate desires of seeking admission to professional courses should fulfill the eligibility
conditions as laid down by the University.
(xiv) A male candidate having two or more than two years gap from the qualifying examination is
not eligible for admission in any professional course at undergraduate level. Admission may
be given to a male candidate who has two years or less than two years gap from the
qualifying examination on submitting an affidavit with suitable reason of the gap between the
studies. Female candidates are exempted for the gap in their education from the last
qualifying examination.
(xv) An admitted candidate in a particular course in a particular affiliated college of the University
may change his / her college in first year only in the same course. For this no additional fee
will be charged by the new college, in which the admitted candidate is seeking transfer of the
same course. In this type of transfer of admitted candidates, the fee transfer is also mandatory
from previous college to new college in which candidates is transferred. The transferred
candidate, previous college and new college must inform to the University for the transfer of
the candidate.
(xvi) Only duly filled forms along with all supportive documents of provisionally admitted
candidate shall be submitted by the college to the University.
(xvii) Fee Refund: 100 % Fee may be refund by the college to the admitted student as per rule up to
two months from the last date of the admission by the university. Detail Fee refund policy is
attached.
(xviii) Admission of the candidates having supplementary: College may give provisional
admission to a candidate who has supplementary in his /her qualifying examination merit
shall be decided on the basis of prescribed qualifying marks in the paper concerned provided
that he/she passes the same with an undertaking from the candidate mentioning that if he/she
fails in the supplementary exam. then his/her admission shall be considered as cancelled.
(xix) A candidate shall be allowed to take admission in postgraduate programs twice (two different
postgraduate courses or one postgraduate and one law undergraduate program) only.
(xx) INTERNATIONAL AND NRI STUDENTS:
a) At least 60% marks in qualifying examination is the minimum requirement for admission of
international and NRI students to various courses in the University.
b) Admission to international students shall be given as per the policies of the Government of
India (Miniseries of External Affairs, Home and Human Resource Development) declared
from time to time.
c) The admission of self-supporting students shall be confirmed only after having sought
clearance from the Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Education),
Government of India, New Delhi or High Commission/Embassy concerned.
d) The foreign students are required to submit a medical certificate including report of HIV test
form the specified authority at the time of their admission.
e) Incomplete application form shall not be entertained in any condition.
f) Admission form shall be purchased by cash of INR 500/- (Indian student) or by a bank draft
of INR 2500/- (NRI students) in favour of the Registrar, University of Kota payable at Kota.

g) No direct application/documents of the foreign students who wish to seek admission to
postgraduate course shall be entertained by the Head of the Institute. They are required to
submit the same to the office of the Vice-Chancellor of the University to ascertain the
eligibility.
h) The foreign students are required to maintain good conduct during the course of studies in the
University. Fees (5 times of regular student) and other dues must be cleared on time of the
admission.
i) Every international student shall report to Foreign Registration Officer, for extension of
his/her visa three months in advance. They shall keep close liaison with foreign Registration
Office regarding visa formalities, etc.
j) All admissions shall be provisional till all formalities are completed.
k) All other Rules for local students shall also apply to the international students.

m) 15% supernumerary seats in all courses shall be reserved for international students including
Persons of Indian Origin. Out of total number of supernumerary seats, 1/3 i.e. 5% seats
would be preferably filled by children of NRIs on payment of five times the fee payable by a
regular student of the course.
n) Familiarization session would be organized for freshly enrolled international students for at

5. Eligibility for Undergraduate (UG) Courses:
The qualifying examination for all UG courses is 10+2 with at least 40% marks (except for
BBA and BCA where it is 45%), 4% relaxation in marks will be given to the SC /ST/OBC
(except creamy layer) / SOBC / PH candidates.
i. Candidates from all discipline are permitted to apply for BBA, BCA, BSc (Biotechnology,
Microbiology, etc.) courses.
ii. For BSc (Biotechnology / Microbiology, etc.) courses, candidates who are from
Biology/Agriculture discipline can apply.
iii. Class 12th

6. Eligibility for Postgraduate (PG) courses:
iv. The qualifying examination for all PG courses is bachelor degree with at least 50% marks,
5% relaxation in marks will be given to the SC/ST/OBC (except creamy layer) / SOBC / PH
candidates.
v. For M.Sc. (Biotechnology / Microbiology / Information Technology, etc.) courses,
candidates having B.Sc. degree with Biology / Agriculture / Microbiology / Veterinary
Science / Genetics / Biotechnology discipline may apply.
vi. For M.Sc. IT course (four semester), candidate graduated from BBA, BCA, BSc(IT) streams
under 10+2+3 scheme, may be eligible. (amendment should be made in BOS of respective
subject)
7 Merit List:
(i) As per the vide letter no F.7 (4) / Acad. /DEC / Adm. Policy / 2016-17/384 dated 28-06-
2016 of the Government of Rajasthan, admission at undergraduate level shall be made
through percentile basis. Admission in professional courses will follow the Admission
Policy-2016-17 of the directorate College Education, Jaipur.
(ii) The admission in the various courses shall be made in order of merit on the basis of marks
obtained in the qualifying examination.
(iii) Two separate lists would be prepared by the college on the basis of merit in view of the
percentile & reservation policy of the Government of Rajasthan. First merit list will consist
the names of the candidates against the total number of allotted seats in respective course.
The second list (waiting list) would also consist of the names, category, percentage,
supportive document attached, followed by first list in the descending order of merit against
the total number of allotted seats. This list shall be the waiting list.
(iv) Separate merit lists shall be prepared for UG and PG courses and the admission will be given
strictly on the basis of merit of the candidate and as per his/her choice for the course.
(v) Reservation of seats shall be made subject to the prevalent statutory reservations as per the
relevant rules and resolutions of Government of Rajasthan time to time and directions of the
Court thereof.
(vi) The Exclusive reservation of seats for category shall be made as given below:
For candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC) of Rajasthan 16%
For candidates belonging to Scheduled Tribe (ST) of Rajasthan 12%
For candidates belonging to Other Backward Class (OBC) of Rajasthan 21%
For candidates belonging to Special Other Backward Class (SOBC) of Rajasthan 5%
For candidates belonging to Physical Handicapped (PH) of Rajasthan 03%
Any other type reservation shall be applicable as per directions of Government of
Rajasthan / Government of India.
8. As it was resolved in BOM of University, 10% increase in admission fee will be effective
from next academic session.
9. Fee Refund Policy that applicable to the regular courses running in the University will also
be applicable to the professional courses.

(a) The above benefits of reservation can only be claimed on producing a certificate of the same
from the competent authority.
(b) The physically handicapped with at least 40% disability shall produce a medical certificate
from the competent authority as per the State Government rules.

Notification of the University Fee Refund policy 2016-2017

Fee Refund Rules
The Fee Refund Rules of the University of Kota shall be as under:
1. A student once admitted can get the fee refund only if he / she applies to the
University in the prescribed Refund Request Form within the prescribed time
limits as follows:
1(a) If application is submitted within
15 days after admission of the candidate
or before the closing date of admission
whichever is earlier.
70% of the tuition fee shall be refunded
subject to the condition that the seat so
vacated is filled up by the another
candidate
1(b) If application is submitted any time
in the session not covered within point
1(a).
Only caution money shall be refunded.
2. In case of transfer of student from one course of higher fee to another course of
lesser fee within the campus, the difference fee may be refunded after the admission
and vice-versa.
3. If any course is not run by the University department due to unavoidable reason, the
100% fee deposited by the students shall be refunded.
4. Once the refund application is received, the application will be processed only after
final withdrawn of the admission in the course.

5. In case of Foreign/NRI candidates, the refund will be made in accordance with
foreign exchange rules and regulations.
6.The admission application form fee is non-refundable.
7. The admission of a student is liable to be cancelled at any time, on being found,
ineligible or used fraudulent means for securing admission or if any of the
statements made by him / her is found false. The University has the right to take
disciplinary and legal action or penalty against such a student as per the Statutes and
the Rules of the University. In such case, the fee including caution money deposited
by the student shall be forfeited and he/she shall also be liable to pay the dues, if
any.
8. The caution money will be refunded to the students on his/her leaving the
University, after the completion of the course and the declaration of the final
examination results, after deduction of all dues, fines and other claims, if any,
against him/her, as per the rules of the University. No interest will be payable by
the University on such amount.
9. Any extra amount deposited by the candidate by mistake or due to interruptions of
online transfer will be refunded after providing justified evidences and proofs by
the students along with refund application and after the confirmation of
University bank.
10. If any student who has applied for Govt. Schemes for fellowship/financial aid
through the University applies for fee refund the same will be processed only after
the cancellation of his application from the govt. scheme.
11. The candidate should submit the original fee receipt, identity proof and the dues
clearance certificate with the refund request form.
12. The application for the refund shall be submitted to the Registrar, University of
Kota, Kota through Head / Coordinator with all relevant documents within the
prescribed time limit.
13. No email request shall be entertained for the refund.
