Multidisciplinary Aortic Dissection SymposiumJune 23–24, 2017

Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) Knight Cardiovascular Institute is pleased to present the inaugural Multidisciplinary Aortic Dissection Symposium. This one-and-a-half-day symposium will feature internationally recognized opinion leaders on complex aortic disease. It is designed for clinicians and advanced practitioners in the treatment and management of patients with aortic dissection.

This conference offers a unique focus on type A and B aortic dissection in a multidisciplinary environment that includes vascular and cardiothoracic surgeons, interventional radiologists, cardiologists, and aortic geneticists.

Course objectiveAttendees will learn the latest advances in diagnosis, imaging and medical, endovascular, and surgical treatment. Please visit www.ohsuknightheart.com/aorticsymposium for more information and to register.

LocationThe Symposium will be held in the state of the art Collaborative Life Sciences Building.Collaborative Life Sciences Building2730 S.W. Moody Ave.Portland, OR, 97201

Hotel accommodations Stay at the Hyatt House in Portland's scenic South Waterfront district. The Hyatt House is conveniently located just a short walk away from the conference venue. A limited number of hotel rooms here are being held at a discounted room rate of $174 for conference attendees. Discounted rate is goodthrough June 8, 2017.

Hands-on endovascular workshop During the symposium, a half-day course is offered for operating room nursing and support healthcare professionals to increase knowledge and skills in complex aortic interventions. Three session times are available to choose from: Friday morning, Friday afternoon and Saturday morning.

Course will cover various methodologies of complex aortic intervention procedures, including hands-on, step-by-step instruction of the modality of endovascular aortic repair (EVAR) procedures. Participants will learn how to anticipate surgeon's needs, decrease case time, increase patient safety and success rates. 4.5 CEUs are offered for this course. Space is limited. Registration required.

Participants in this course can learn:

1. To understand the benefits of EVAR procedure2. To gain knowledge of room setup and overall equipment needs3. To understand all procedural steps; how and why?4. To gain knowledge of the preparation and proper handling of all devices and accessories required (such as

wires, catheters, balloons, sheaths and implantable devices)5. To understand the different requirements for elective vs. emergent EVAR cases.
