Dear Colleagues,

Welcome to the Faculty of Dentistry, RCSI’s a) CPD Postgraduate Lecture Programme, now in its tenth year, and b) Paediatric Speciality Dental Education Programme, now in its fourth year.

The Faculty is fully committed to facilitating postgraduate education as a pillar of its activities. We do so through delivering postgraduate lecture programmes, taught courses, and the exciting ongoing development of online resources and connectivity. These resources constitute part of the new benefits for our affiliates, members, fellows, and are scheduled to be operational in the early months of 2020, so watch this space.

The purpose of the CPD programme is to provide a learning opportunity for dentists and their team members away from the busy dental practice or other working environments, to allow them to update their knowledge in a comfortable environment, and also to facilitate those who are actively pursuing additional postgraduate qualifications.

The Paediatric Speciality Dental Education Programme offers insights to the speciality and golden opportunities for the discerning practitioners to broaden their understanding and knowledge in contemporary Paediatric Dentistry.

Our speakers are all experts in their chosen areas and have been carefully selected to provide you with what we think will benefit you in your journey of Continuing Professional Development and/or in Paediatric Dentistry. You may already be familiar with many of the speakers but the Faculty also actively encourages a cross spectrum of qualified colleagues, who may not necessarily be as well-known but equally talented, to present topics and thereby transfer knowledge and provide updates of relevance to you. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the end of each lecture, and you will also meet like-minded colleagues and make new friends.

I sincerely hope that you will enjoy the two programmes which the Faculty offers. Any suggestions you may have to allow us to improve our delivery or suggestions for future topics are always welcome.

Professor Albert Leung Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, RCSI (from February 2020)

Professor Albert Leung Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry, Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland
