STAGE 1:STAGE 1: Understanding your business ‒ a Business impact Analysis and Risk Assessment is carried out to identify

those operational functions whose continuous operation is deemed to be critical to the survival of the organisation.

This phase identifi es the critical business processes; the timescales in which these processes must be recovered; any

potential risk exposures; and the internal and external resources and services required by those processes to restore

and then continue operation to an acceptable level.

Stage II: BCM Strategy ‒ The outcome of this phase is a strategy for business continuity management whereby the BCM

framework and requirements are detailed.

Existing strategies already in place are evaluated and evaluated against the priority needs identi_ ed.

STAGE III: STAGE III: BCM Response ‒ In this stage, the management, departmental, IT and support recovery plans are developed

and implemented to support the strategy identifi ed in phase two.
