When Pieter Bielderman started the firm as an entrepreneur, he wanted to create a firm that could deliver direct and personal service, at the highest professional and ethical standards, at commercially viable rates.

The firm has deliberately maintained its entre-preneurial nature – preferring sincere relation-ships to large and cumbersome structures. With in excess of 30 people, the firm has the size necessary to effectively handle a very wide range of matters, without sacrificing adaptabili-ty or cost savings for our clients.

Although Pieter regularly fulfills the role of counsel appearing in court personally, he remains committed to being an attor-ney as this allows him the close and direct interaction with the firm’s clients.

Pieter believing in a balanced life, dedicates as much of his time as possible between fami-ly and work. An avid sports fan, Pieter cycles, swims and rides motorcycles to keep and re-tain a balance.

Pieter commenced his law stud-ies at the then Rand Afrikaans University. Having to fund his studies led to holding some rather interesting positions: specialised bus driver (SAA); assistant train driver electric (SA Railways); sold flowers (the then Rand Easter Show) and also trained as an armed guard for a cash-in-transit company.

Pieter was admitted to prac-tice as an attorney in January 1990. After being promoted to junior partner in Bowens’ litigation department Pieter

Etienne regularly appears in both civil and criminal courts. He strives to follow the firm’s ethos of taking on any matter, large or small, to bring the mat-ter to a successful conclusion.

Etienne graduated from the Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannes-burg) with an LLB degree. He completed his articles of clerk-ship at a small firm attending to general civil litigation mat-ters. After being admitted, he practiced as a professional assistant at a firm specialising in criminal litigation. He also practiced for his own account for a short period of time, attending to general civil and

Karen was admitted to prac-tice as a Conveyancer during 1995 and formally joined Biel-dermans Inc. in Johannesburg 1996. Karen practices in insur-ance and matrimonial law and heads up the Conveyancing Department. Karen is married to Pieter and they have two teenage sons. She juggles being an attorney and a mother.

After successfully com-pleting a Bachelor of Com-merce from the Universi-ty of the Witwatersrand, Julian realised that the ar-eas of his studies that he enjoyed the most were those dealing with the law. With this in mind Julian re-turned to the University of the Witwatersrand a year later to complete

a Postgraduate LLB de-gree. Julian has an avid

interest in informa-tion technology and

telecommunications.

Lesego graduated from the University of Johan-nesburg in 2010 with an LLB degree. She completed her articles of clerkship with Bieldermans Inc. and was admitted as an attor-ney in October 2012. She now practices at Bielder-mans Inc. as a professional assistant and assists Karen Bielderman and Etienne Co-etzee in their respective practices, mainly in insur-ance law.

Brendon commenced his law studies at Rand Afrikaans University (now University of Johannesburg) in 1993. En-tering the legal profession on a full time basis when joining Bieldermans Inc. in 2002. Brendon enrolled at UNISA and completed his LLB degree part time and was admitted to practice as an attorney in August 2007. Brendon cov-ers all fields of practice but

specialises in Insurance Law.Brendon strives to achieve excellence in his work and personal life through hard work, dedication and loyalty. He plays outdoor cricket for Bedfordview Country Club as well as Bieldermans Inc. Action

Sagrie obtained her LLB de-gree in 2007 from the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal (Howard College). She joined the insurance motor vehicle recovery team at Bielder-mans Inc. in May 2008 as a paralegal and commenced her articles of clerkship with the firm in late 2008, opting to enrol for the full time eve-ning programme at the Legal Education and Development centre in Milpark, to complete her practical legal training. Late nights and hard work proved worthwhile when she completed the course with distinction and achieved the “outstanding performance” award. Sagrie was admitted as an attorney in December

2010.
