These fully sealed stainless steel Temperature Probes can be used many different ways in your glasshouse or polytunnel. Whether you’re measuring bottom heat, a mixing valve system, soil temperature, or any other zone, these durable probes will do the job.The iGrow 1400 Series controllers can use up to 5 Temperature Probes in addition to indoor and outdoor temperature Sensors. Ventilation in glasshouses maximises plant growth and reduces fungal diseases by creating an even temperature and a desirable environment.

Air movement is vital in the greenhouse to provide the crop with more natural environment. Reducing fluctuations of temperature and humidity stirring the air can reduce instances of fungal diseases. the air movement also helps to maintain a drier leaf surface, inhibiting the germination of diseases, thus reducing the number of sprays required.

Ventilation is important to crop productivity within greenhouses as it provides continuous positive air movement. This is highly desirable as it equalises temperature, carbon dioxide, and humidity levels to encourage growth.

By creating improved environmental conditions, healthier plants can be grown and problem with disease associated with high humidity or stale air lessened. It is suggested that a minimum velocity of 40 feet per minute should be provided. Below this level, air flow is unpredictable, and mixing throughout the greenhouse area will no be achieved. A velocity of 40 feet per minute will cause slight leaf movement with plants having long branched leaves.

We have been working along side a specialist air movement company and along with our extensive knowledge of horticultural structures, we can now provide a range of fans ideally suited for horticulture. The Hydor range is renowned around the world for it’s quality & reliability.

Air movement is essential to ensure a successful crop. We will assess the crop needs, size and location of the polytunnel structure to provide the best possible solution.

Polytunnels are used for a variety of product, and due to their construction are ventilated longitudinally, with the air passing from inlet dampers or air-operated back draught shutters at one end to the fans at the opposite end. This is known as tunnel ventilation and ensures hot sports and humidity int eh centre of he unit are eliminated.

Polytunnel ventilation can be achieved in smaller structures with door opening to each end allowing a through draft which is essential on warmer days. A louvre vent panel can also be installed to release the heat that builds up in the upper roof space.

Coupled with an extractor fan at one end, with lourve’s at the other, effective air movement, regardless of the outside conditions can be achieved. The belt-driven HV fans of the High Efficiency plate-mounted range are prefect for this application.

For larger polythene covered, open sided structures, our Turbulator fan units circulate the air within the area. These will generate air movement over the produce, which is especially advantageous on still air days. Turbulator fans will create even temperatures within the structure and reduce the risk of fungal diseases, improving product quality and productivity.

When excessive external temperatures are present, Evaporative Cooling can be introduced to reduce the internal temperature to a more comfortable level for both the product and personnel. This can also be used to increase humidity, if required.

The standard turbulator HTS range of fans are specifically designed to have a long throw and move air efficiently to give a measure of control over temperature and humidity in a variety of horticulture housings.

High quality Recirculation Fans

Our Turbulator range, is constructed with Alu-Zinc or stanless steel casings, with high efficiency, lightweight motors and non-corrosive platic impellers, offering various sizes from 355mm to 630mm diameter. The units are suitable for all year round ventilation and movement of air within glasshouse, polytunnels and garden centres. Providing evenness of temperture throughout the building and removing condensation, by circulating the air, thereby improving the environment at low cost and power consumption.

There are a number of distinct benefits for horticulture applications with ‘Turbulators’, namely -

1. Control of insects in the summer months - many insect and flies are discouraged by a constant airflow throughtout which is created by the circulating fans.

2. In the winter, the turbulator fans evenly circulate the heated air around the tunnel and eradicate cold spots. In the summer they provide an even air flow, thus reducing condensation and eradicating fungal growth.

3. Turbulators can be mounted at any angle for optimum coverage in the glasshouse.

4. Air circulation results in plants remaining shorter, with good root growth, providing a healthier plant.

5. Fans provide a more comfortable environment for both staff and customers alike.

Fans HE Range Fans HV RangeA modern high quality range of propeller fan designed to pass large volumes of air with minimum use of energy in garden centres and many other applications. The HV Belt Drive Fan range is specifically

designed to ventilate larger buildings glasshouses or polytunnels, where substantial amounts of air are moved at low pressure with minimal energy consumption.

The primary horticultural applications for the HE range is to ventilate the glasshouse or polytunnels where higher resistance may be encoutered, ideal for growers with smaller units and polytunnels.

The HE propeller fan produces air volumes of up to 4.84m3/s. With a heavy duty construction, the HE fans principal benefit is the propeller shaped blades which scoop air and move it efficiently away from the fan. Blade tip clearance design enhances HE fan performance alongside large volume air movement.

The HV range is available in four sizes 800mm, 1000mm, 1250mm and 2000mm diameter, each with single or three phase motors and the option of louvres and guards. This powerfull fan produces air volumes up to 20m3/s.

Constructed from galvanised steel with a specially designed stainless steel impeller, these fans are extremely hard wearing and robust in application. The drive mechanism includes sealed for life maintenance free ball bearings, which means low noise and vibration levels.

The HV range is available in four variations: wall mounting with or without shutters, suspension mounting form the roof space or floor mounting with wheels for easy mobility.

The HV range includes models with a centrifugal operated back draught shutter or an automatic louvre shuttered model. Units are supplied fully assembled complete with standard safety guards.

De-Stratification UnitWith De-Stratification fans installed in the ceiling space, the accumulated warm air is redistributed down towards floor level and re-circulated around the building to sustain even temperatures and reduce run time of heaters.Within horticulture buildings, heat rides from floor level and collects in the ceiling void, even in a well ventilated building the difference in temperature levels can be as much as 5°C.

Heaters are required o operate more frequently in this situation to restore temperatures at floor height to acceptable levels for plants housed. This results in higher fuel costs and wasted energy.

The redistribution of warm air creates a more even temperature around the housing and allows the floor level temperature to be sustained for longer without the prolonged and frequent use of heaters, thereby reducing energy expenditure significantly.

Tests have also proven that the fans aid maintenance of a

constant temperature at floor level. In comparison a house reliant solely on heaters recorded considerable fluctuations in temperature.

Bespoke Fan UnitsBepsoke Fan Units have been produced for horticultural research stations, universities, garden centres and goverment/council glasshouses and commercial growers.

The units produced have been buit to meet the exact requirements of the individual customer specification and include such features as automated dampers, internal direction louvres, external aphid mesh and/or filter.

Units can be used where positive pressures are essential to prevent any contaminates entering the test areas. Similar units are designed to mount into the glazing bars of the roof of the glasshouse or garden centre, based on the Low silhouette Flat-Based GRP Roof Unit cut to suit the spacing of the bars. The units can incorporate the same features as the wall mounting units but are generally used for extracting air.

Simple units can also be developed with fan sizes to suit from 315mm diameter to 760mm diameter or larger, although size can be dictated by the glazing bar spacing.

A range of transformer voltage controllers sed to provide five speed step control to single phase motors where the peak current of the motor does not exceed the rating of the controller. Speed control is via selector switch. Single phase units are complete with illuminated on/off switch.

The climate controller provides temperature activated ventilation control for your grow room. Both intake and exhaust fans speed can be individually adjusted to provide balanced continuous trickle ventilation.

The controller is activated by the adjustable temperature sensor which can be sited remotely to provide accurate localised temperature control.

When the temperature set point is reached, both intake and exhaust fans will increase to full speed until the temperature drops back below the set point.

Quality electronic type speed controllers are available for panel/wall mounting. Each unit included a speed control knob and miniature circuit breaker, rated to suit the fan and also acts as an on/off switch. Current rating up to 10Amps maximum. Available to control one or two fans.

The Electronic Humidistat is an On/Off sensor and is adjustable between 60 - 100% RH. The sensor monitors the relative humidity level and switches the fan on to remove moisture ladan air when the humidity level exceeds the set point.

The Aspirated Thermostat, with it’s built-in fan, monitors the actual air temperature within the glass house. Unaffected by the direct heat of the sun and in combination with a computer or control panel, it controls the temperature within the glasshouse or garden centre.

The Electronic Air Quality Sensor monitors the levels of humidity, CO2 and dampness. The ventilation system is activated then the air quality deteriorates and drops below the adjustable acceptable level.

Our new range of single phase controllers allows cost effective interface with any appliance. Each unit is designed to allow manual or automatic control without expensive commissioning costs. A power supply will be needed near the unit, but everything else is connected by plug and socket. Each unit can be ‘daisy chained’ to each other, which in turn can be connected to a central switch or computer.

EvaposensorHas been developed to eliminate the problems associated with carbon wet leaves, timers and light sum integrators. The Evaposensor is unaffected by sensitivity, positioning and changes in conductivity. It measures all the driving factors of evaporation and can be viewed as an accurate mini weather station.

The Evaposensor consists of two temperature sensing ‘leaves’. One leaf remains wet via a wick and distilled water reservoir, and the other ‘dry’ leaf gets wetted periodically by bursts of mist or fog. Unlike conventional ‘wet / dry hygrometers’ in an aspirated screen for measuring relative humidity, the Evaposensor is fully exposed to the local environment of the cuttings. Usually placed just above cutting height, it is influenced by the mist, solar radiation, air temperature, humidity and air movement – i.e. all the factors affecting the rate of transpiration water loss from the cutting. The Evaposensor provides the ideal basis for controlling mist (or fog) in propagation, as it senses WLD in an analogous way to the ‘transpiration stress’ experienced by cuttings or a plant. Misting frequency is automatically adjusted along with the weather to accurately reflect changes in evaporative demand.

• Wet leaf is normally cooler than dry leaf as a result of evaporative cooling.

• Temperature difference is called the Wet Leaf Depression (WLD) - °C. and unlike a misting controller using a wet leaf, provides an accurate display in real time of WLD on an alphanumeric display.

• WLD is proportional to potential transpiration. Hence to potential water stress on the cutting.

• During misting, ‘dry’ leaf becomes wet and WLD falls to near 0 °C, reflecting the effect of mist on transpiration.

• As ‘dry’ leaf dries out, WLD rises until the set point is reached, and another burst of mist is triggered.

• Under cool and cloudy conditions, WLD may stay below the set point, avoiding unnecessary misting and overwetting of the rooting medium.

• WLD drops to near zero at night, automatically suppressing misting.

The B-Series products are production LED lights for professional greenhouses and growth chambers. The B-series products are bar-shaped and thus very suitable for installations such as multi-layer, inter-lighting and glasshouse installations at lower height. No heat radiation is emitted towards the plants form the fixture, due to the efficient LED technology. this enables the installation of the lights to close proximity to the plants. The high performance LED’s and the robust fixture design provide a very long life-span.

The NP Controls R-Series products are production LED lights for professional glasshouse use. The R-Series products are high power lights with minimal shadow footprint and therefore, very suitable for large scale installations in traditional glasshouses. The high performance LED’s and the robust fixture design provide a very long life-span.

The L20 is a production LED light for professional use. The design of the L20 is similar to a T8/120cm fluorescent tube. A fluorescent T8/120cm tube can easily be replaced with the L20. The low heat radiation and optimal light intensity allow installations close to plants. The L20 form factor and the high performance AP67 light spectrum makes the L20 ideal for use in growth chambers and high density multi-layer growth systems.

VLHC Dehumidifier for Moderate & Cold Climates

AGAM DehumidifierAGAM’s Ventilated Latent Heat Converter (VLHC) is a revolutionary patented, field-tested dehumidification system for cold-climate greenhouses. It solves humidity-related problems, including yield-damaging Botrytis, while actually reducing energy and fungicide expenses.

The VLHC takes in humid air from inside the greenhouse, optionally along with fresh air. It converts water vapour into water and heat by blowing the air through a matrix of desiccant-filled elements in a compact cooling tower. In this process, vapour condensation naturally warms up the desiccant, and the heat is released by the unit into the greenhouse as warm, dry air.

The VLHC thus efficiently converts the latent heat stored in the water vapour to usable heat, a welcome by product in cold-climate greenhouses - dramatically reducing energy consumption.

Furthermore, the VLHC cost-effectively cleans and filters greenhouse air, without expelling costly CO2 enriched air - reducing the need for external cold air input - further lowering heating expenses.

AGAM’s energy-efficient VLHC dehumidification technology has been proven in scientific studies of greenhouse humidity - heat dynamics. Studies examining the correlation between heating and plant transpiration have shown that in greenhouses where humidity was removed by VLHC (filled circles, left), both beating and transpriation were at least 50% lower than in ventilated greenhouses in the same ambient conditions (empty cicles, left).

Thus, the VLHC both reduced the amount of water vapour that needs to be removed and removes it very efficiently.

As evidenced above, an AGAM VLHC unit operating at 20 litres/hr will consume 20000 kCal/hr (the equivalent of 23kW) of heat, and requore direct power input of 2kW - for a total input of 25kW. this same unit will produce heat equivalent to 95kW, a direct surplas of 70kW

In addition to helping to maintain healthly and high-volume yields, the AGAM’s VLHC Dehumidifier also reduces the need for intensive fungicide use - saving money and helping conventional and organic growers conform to local and international regulations.
