It has been one hundred years sinceCanadian born John Leslie advertisedhis first major product, a steam poweredsnowplow for railroad locomotives. By1905 The Leslie Company was operatinga foundry, machine shop and small officein Lyndhurst, New Jersey, and building areputation for producing reliable steampressure valves and regulators. Thecompany was a major supplier of steamcontrol equipment for military andmerchant ships during both World Warsand has continued as a supplier of mili-tary/commercial marine service products.Leslie’s product line grew over the yearsto incorporate equipment for industrialand utility customers, and in 1968 thecompany moved into a larger plant inParsippany, New Jersey.

In Parsippany, Leslie built on decadesof experience manufacturing highquality valves for military and industrialmarkets to solidify it’s reputation as apremium quality manufacturer, withproducts such as the venerable “Super G” Series regulators and theClass DLO control valve line.

After moving our headquarters to anewly built 150,000 sq. ft. facility inTampa, Florida, Leslie broadened it’sscope to encompass a comprehensivearray of products for total fluid manage-ment of steam and other fluids. In 1990,Leslie Controls was purchased by one ofthe world’s largest independent valvemanufacturers, Watts Industries.

The Aeroflow product line, one of themost innovative and diverse family ofcontrol valves in the world, was intro-duced in 1994. Our 1995 acquisition ofthe K&M Valve Company added thewidely recognized K-Max Rotary, GTBTop & Bottom Guided, GTW 3-Way andSynflow Sweep Angle control valve linesto our Process Chemical and Oil & GasIndustry offerings. In 1999, Watts Indus-tries split and Leslie Controls became acorporation in the Fluid RegulationDivision of the newly formed NYSEcompany, Circor International. A fewmonths later, the CPC-Cryolab line ofcryogenic valves was added to the Leslieproduct line.

With 250 employees, Leslie Controlshas grown to serve power generation, oiland gas, petrochemical, chemical process,HVAC, food processing, commercialmarine, and military marine marketsthrough a network of over 100 manufac-turers’ representatives worldwide.

Linear Control ValvesAeroflow High Performance Control Valves• 1 - 16” Valve Sizes • Cv Range: 0.01 - 3100• ANSI CL 150 - 4500, DIN PN10 - 400 • End Conn.: BWE, SWE, RF,• Body Mat’l: WCB, C5, WC9, CF8M RTJ, THD

Tight Shut-Off (exceeds ANSI Class VI)

Unlike competitive valves rated for ClassIV, V, or VI shut-off, Aeroflow’s pressureenergized pilot balanced plug provideszero cc/min. leak rates, without penaltyof huge actuators, even with metal tometal seats at full body pressure/temp-erature ratings. Aeroflow’s shut-offcapability is in a class all its own. Thepilot balanced plug design minimizesactuator size and cost. Proven pilotdesign also eliminates the need for anypiston seals to insure tight shut-off,greatly increasing the valve’s reliability.

Parts InterchangeablityWith the exception of bodies, all partsare interchangeable between globe andangle body styles with the same sizeand function. Facilities needingvarious trim designs in both globe andangle style bodies can minimize partsinventories, maintenance and training.

Tri-Sheer Protected Seat DesignProven in more than 20 years of powerplant service, Leslie’s “protected” seatdesign protects Aeroflow’s superiorshut-off characteristic three ways.First, the protected seat prevents highvelocity transients at opening or

closure of the valve. Secondly, a five-stage pressure drop occurs near theseating position and last, the plug/seatsurface is withdrawn from the directflow to prevent direct particle impinge-ment or clamping. The Tri-Sheerallows prolonged throttling at the seatwithout wire draw due to highclearance flow velocities.

Quick-Change Seat DesignIn 4-16” body sizes, Aeroflow's seatring is not threaded, welded, or loadedin place by the cage. Seat retention andseat gasket loading are accomplishedwith a stainless steel load ring andmultiple silver-plated load screws forcontrolled seat gasket loading which isimpervious to thermal shock.

Hung Cage for Thermal ExpansionThe quick-change seat features a cagewhich is hung in the body. This allowsthe cage to expand freely throughsudden wide variations in fluid tempera-ture. This tolerance for cage expansionsolves the typical problems seen incage retained designs such as cagewarping, plug binding, galling, andcrushed gaskets.

The unique technology of the Aeroflow begins with aerodynamic vanes cast intothe valve body inlet and outlet. Inlet vanes help divert incoming flow evenlyaround the cage, minimizing turbulence and flow instability as well as improvingflow capacity. Outlet vanes minimize turbulence to reduce noise and bodyerosion. A wide range of interchangeable trim options and custom characterizedcages provide the flexibility of many sought after benefits.

Custom Characterized Cage ThrottlingMassive 400 Series stainless steel cagesresist warping or deformation andprovides plug/window throttlingthrough closure. The flow window canbe shaped to meet specific Cv require-ments and system characteristics. Thiscustom characterized cage is standardin our Aeroflow control valve line andis available with all plug/seat options.

Les-Cav Multi-Stage CageLes-Cav multi-stage trim is designedto throttle liquids with maximumpressure drops from 0-4000psi withoutdamaging cavitation and resultantnoise or vibration. Les-Cav is easilytailored to the exact requirements ofeach application.

Les-Sonic CageSingle stage Les-Sonic cage canprovide up to 25 dBA noise reductionin compressible fluid applications. When combined with a Les-SonicSilencing Orifice noise reductions ofup to 35 dBA are possible.

Mini-P Multi-Stage PlugThe Mini-P multi-stage plug isdesigned for low-flow high-pressuredrop cavitating services. The uniqueaxial flow design will control cavitationand the resultant noise, vibration, andvalve erosion damage. The pressuredrop is taken along the length of theplug in the milled slots and chamberedliner. The Mini-P can be easily tailoredto the exact Cv requirements of eachvalve application.

C3 Combination Characterized CageSpecial characterized cages can bedesigned for applications that requirehigh rangeability, with low end cavita-tion protection or low end noise abate-ment. This flexibility allows Leslie toprovide one valve where other manu-facturers may require two, loweringoverall equipment, installation, andmaintenance costs.

Linear Control ValvesDLO/DLOS-2 Single-Seated, Unbalanced Valves with Cage Retained Seat

These versatile single-seated, unbal-anced, cage-retained trim, diaphragmcontrol valves put the premium onperformance at a competitive price.Suitable for use in steam, water, gasand process applications, this valveseries has found acceptance in indus-tries ranging from food and beverageprocessing to power generation.

Greater VersatilityHeavy, 2-point stem guiding makesthe DLO-2 especially suitable for dirty, viscous and corrosive fluids as well asfor clean fluids. Because there are

absolutely no threaded internal parts, these valves are ideal for corrosive ser-vices. They can be maintained withoutremoving the valve from the pipeline.Trim and cage options include 316stainless steel (standard), resilientseats or hardfacing with Stellite® alloy.

Lower-Cost MaintenanceLeslie’s unique design allows maxi-mum interchangeability of parts.Substantial reduction of spare partsinventory is possible because trimparts and actuators can be used onmany different body sizes.

These Leslie control valves are rugged, reliable units specially designed for usein steam, water, gas, vapor and non-corrosive liquid service. The balancedcage-throttling design permits thesevalves to be operated with small, compact and economical actuatorsagainst fluid pressure drops up to 1480 psig and 800°F., (subject to body pressure/temperature ratings and actuator limits).

Hung-Cage ConstructionA unique hung-cage throttling designeliminates gasket damage and bonnetor seat leaks due to thermal expansion.Anti-cavitation (Les-Cav) and low-noise

(Les-Sonic) cages are available for special situations. Cages and trim mater-ial are 400 series stainless steel withoptional Stellite® hardfacing available.Standard valve packing is braidedTeflon® graphite. Teflon® chevron andlaminated graphite is optional forhigher temperature service.

Easy MaintenanceThe cage trim is easy to remove for

inspection or replacement. There areno welded, screwed-in or press-fitparts. Capacity changes are achievedsimply by replacing the cage. There’sno need to replace any other parts or add any adapters.

Class GTB Double-Seated

In dirty, sticky, and erosive applica-tions, where cage guided valves fail, plug characterization, stem guiding, and balancing effect give the double-seated GTB design the best combina-tion of features necessary to succeed.Since inlet pressure exerts force on theupper and lower plugs, the forces arebalanced. This balancing effect reducesthe net thrust required to move theplug, allowing for smaller actuators tobe used in higher pressure drop appli-cations and resulting in lower overallinstallation cost and dimensionalenvelope.

Two-Point Guiding The GTB valve plug is supported andrigidly guided by upper and lower

guide bushings. This exceptionalstability and minimal valve plugdeflection even under high pressuredrop conditions, and allows precisecontrol and characterization of fluid.

Field Reversible PlugThe Equal Percentage V-Port, EqualPercent Contoured, Linear Contoured, and Quick Opening plugs are easilyreversed in the field so that either afail open or closed action can beobtained using the same actuator.

Optional Extended BonnetBonnet options include the standardbolted configuration and extensionbonnet for temperatures below 32°F(0°C) and above 450°F (232°C).

3-Way Control Valves

RVK, RVD and RVB Three- Way Rotary Valves

These relatively low-cost valves aredesigned for bypass temperaturecontrol systems in industrial, utilityand marine applications. They requirevery low operating forces and can beused with smaller actuators, furtherreducing system cost. Leslie rotaryvalves allow nearly twice the overall

flow capacities of globe types, resultingin extremely low pressure losses andallowing the use of smaller sizes.Superior features include smootherthrottling, greater accuracy, non-fouling, non-sticking, compact size andreversible action.

Plug Throttling ValvesLeslie Class GTW plug throttling,three-way globe valves are designed formixing or diverting clean, dirty, viscousand corrosive liquids; high and lowpressure steam; and clean, dirty andcorrosive gases.Seat, plug and stem material is 316stainless steel. Shutoff is dependent oninstalled service requirements. ClassII, IV or V shutoff is available on eitheror both of the two inner valve ports.Bonnet options include the standardbolted configuration; an extensionbonnet for extreme temperatures; alube/ vented bonnet for purge, leak-offor lubricator connections; bellowsbonnets for zero exterior leakage; andoversized bonnets when required.A variety of packing and gasket optionsare offered to meet the requirements ofa range of process conditions. Packingoptions include PTFE V-Ring, PTFE

shredded, high temperature carbongraphite, PTFE aramid, graphite aramidand high temperature Inconel® glass.Choices for gaskets include PTFE,high temperature carbon graphite andnitrile rubber bonded non-asbestos.

On/Off Valves2500 Series Electrically Actuated Valves2800 Series Heat Actuated, Fire Safety Shut-Off Valves

• 1/2 - 4” Valve Sizes • Cv Range: 3 - 160• ANSI CL 150 - 300 • End Conn.: RF, THD• Body Mat’l: WCB, CF8M

Leslie 2500 Series valves are 2-way,globe type, piston valves. Direct, semi-direct, and pilot operated valve pistonoptions make these valves ideal for usewith viscous, dirty or clean fluids aswell as light liquids and gases. They are operated by an external leverconnecting the lifting action of thelinear actuator to the valve piston/plugthrough a rotary shaft. The rotary shaftprinciple creates a mechanical advan-tage enabling more force in operatingthe valve. It also allows stronger returnspring action to ensure reliable fail-safereturn.

FM ApprovedThe 2500 Series is FM approved forsafety shut-off of fuel oils and gases. The electric actuator is FM approvedexplosion-proof (Class I, Groups B, C,& D, Division 1, and Class II, Groups E,F, & G), and complies with requirementsfor NEMA 4 watertight enclosures.

Fully Automatic or Electrically TrippedIn the fully automatic configurationthe actuator has a ‘NORMAL’ fail to (or shelf) position. When the valve isde-energized (on any loss of signal), itwill “fail” to this position. Upon reap-plication of current the actuator willautomatically energize and change thevalve position. In the manual reset, electrically trippedconfiguration the valve must be manu-ally “latched” to leave the ‘NORMAL’

position. Upon reapplying current tothe actuator, it will “trip” the valve torevert to its ‘NORMAL’ fail-safe position.Momentary energization is all that isnecessary to change the valve position, however, the actuator is rated forcontinuous duty operation. Both types are quick acting two positiondesigns. Speed of operation is less thanone second, independent of line media.

Rugged, and DependableBecause the actuator assembly isisolated from the valve body, fluidtemperatures to 425°F (includingsteam) can be handled without the coilinsulation breakdown often associatedwith packless solenoid valves. The slight arc of the rotary shaft offerssuperior seal life expectancy comparedto reciprocating stem packing glands. The Leslie 2500 Series has what ittakes for quick shut-off of steam orprocess fluids and gases.

2800 Series for Fire SafetyThe Leslie 2800 Series utilizes thesame design features as th 2500 Series, but is heat actuated for fire safety. These valves meet the requirements ofAPI601 and conforms to or exceed therequirements of OSHA para. 1910.1016(b) (4) (iv) (c).The 2800 Series is designed to failclosed when ambient temperaturereaches the rating of the fusible linkwhich holds the valve open. Fusiblelinks are available in 135, 165, 212,286, and 386°F ratings.

Specialty ProductsP-Trim Multi-Stage Plug Throttling

The Leslie Synflow Valve has been espe-cially designed for the most difficultapplications in synthetic fuel, refining, petrochemical and oil & gas industries. This type of sweep angle design hasbeen applied successfully in:

· Slurry letdown· Visbreaker· Hot separator letdown

· Well choke production· H-Oil letdownSlurry letdown service is the most

critical of these applications, involvingthree-phase flow of solids, liquids andgases at extremely high temperaturesand pressure drops that can destroy a

conventional valve in a matter of hours. The Synflow Valve has been usedsuccessfully in a number of synfuelpilot plant situations where its actualservice life has exceeded that of othervalves by several orders of magnitude.Ccritical body passages of the Synfloware designed to keep wear to a mini-mum. Plugs and seats are a specialtungsten-carbide alloy for corrosionand abrasion resistance. To facilitatemaintenance and inspection, all internalparts (except the seat ring) are easilyremovable from the top of the valve. Inthe bonnet closure, all boltings andgaskets are designed to eliminate prob-lems inherent in thermal transients.

Synflow Sweep Angle Valves for Synfuel Service

To prevent cavitation and subsequentdamage in ultra high pressure letdownservice, P-Trim valves employ threetechniques:

· A unique plug/chamber designsharply reduces and controls, velo-city and pressure drops at any pointin the valve interior.

· Material selection is limited to provenalloys that have demonstrated higherosion resistance and good wearcharacteristics after years in service.

· The industry’s highest standards ofprecision machining, finish qualityand overall quality assurance aremet or exceeded.

The multi-keyed plug and throttlingorifice chamber in Mark P Trim valvesuses two to seven stages to reduce thepressure gradually instead of handlingan ultra-high pressure drop in a singlestage. By accurately controlling thepressure drop in each stage to 700 psior less, velocities are reduced and cavi-tation noise and vibration are prevented. The slightest casting imperfections canlead to premature valve failure, soLeslie precision machines all internalthrottling surfaces assuring actual trimconforms to theoretical design values.P-Trim valves are available in 2” to 6”sizes for throttling drops to 5000 psiand body ratings to ANSI Class 3500.

An economical way to reduce controlvalve or reducing valve noise by 6 to12 dBA is to install the Les-SonicSilencing Orifice downstream from thevalve between two flanges. A LeslieNoise Suppressor installed at the valveoutlet, will reduce pipeline carried

noise by 10 to 20 dBA. For maximumreduction of pipeline transmittednoise, the conbined installation of aLes-Sonic Silencing Orifice and aNoise Suppressor will reduce thesound pressure level by 16 to 32 dBA.

Actuators & PositionersMagnum Series piston actuators uselow volume and long stroke to maxi-mize bleed and feed rates. Externallymounted spring return modules mini-mize residual volume and maximizespeed of response. This low volume

translates into high speed of response. Leslie’s DPS positioner, derived fromLeslie’s patented PMC electro-pneumaticcontroller technology, provides ultra-fast,stable response using a pulse modulatedoutput and a non-mechanical, optical/digital stem position feedback.

The DPS positioner supplies a digitallycontrolled pneumatic output (up to 12SCFM - 60psi supply) and uses a non-contact, direct connected optical reader. With no mechanical feedback linkagesto loosen or wear, accuracy and repeata-bility do not degrade over time. When mounted on an Aeroflow highgain control valve with a 6” Magnumactuator, stroke speed can exceed 3”per second. You read it right, 3” persecond - with no overshoot.

Magnum Piston Actuators/DPS Electro-Pneumatic Positioner

The Rexa X-PAC and T-PAC electrauliclinear actuators are designed for modu-lating and two position service. Theseactuators feature a self-contained elec-traulic power module utilizing thepatented Rexa Flow Match System. This technology allows precise cylinderpositioning, independent of load vari-ations, and locks the cylinder in placewhen no movement is required. Becausethe system is hydraulically stiff, insta-bilities and positioning errors areeliminated. Standard output thrust

ranges from 2,000-10,000 lbs.Strokes are available up to 6 inches.

Optional features include spring failure, position transmitter and handwheel.Digital, pulse, dry contact and 4-20 mAinput options are available. Directcoupled rotary models are available asthe R series actuator. For thrust requirements up to 2000lbs., Leslie offers Jordan Controlselectric actuators which include a widevariety of options. Standard featuresinclude 120 or 240 VAC operation, permanently lubricated motors, anti-condensation heater and feedbacktransmitters. Position switches arestandard on most units.

Electric Actuators

PositionersThe Moore 760 Series pneumatic andelectro-pneumatic positioners

provide cam characterization, splitranging, direct or reverse action andsingle or double output. Key featuresinclude non-interaction of zero andspan adjustments and the positive camlocking mechanism for easy calibration. The PMV models P5 (pneumatic) andEP5 (electro-pneumatic) positioners

offer a wide variety of options due totheir modular construction. These highcapacity, vibration resistant units areeasily mounted on both rotary or recti-linear actuators, with a variety of camsto choose from. Electro-Pneumatic Controllers

A Unique Approach To Simple,Reliable, Accurate ControlThe Leslie PMC-1 electro-pneumaticcontroller represents a true break-through in monitoring and control ofvariables such as pressure, temperature, liquid level and flow rate in steam, airand other fluid systems.

PMC-1 Makes It Easy To ControlAny Fluid SystemProcess engineers accustomed to dealingwith conventional electronic controllerswill find the PMC-1 a joy to work with. The PMC-1 accepts a standard transmit-ter or RTD input, and plugs into anyconventional electrical outlet or 24VDC power source. Maximum powerconsumption is 10 watts.

Eliminates The Need ForPositionersThis unique controller accepts standardplant air to 100 psig, and applies ameasured volume of air (up to max.pressure) to the valve actuator incontrolled short-duration pulses. Bydesign, the PMC-1 is ZERO BLEEDonce set point is reached.

Remote Settings StandardEvery LESLIE PMC-1 is equipped witha remote input connector that accepts4-20 mA analog control signals. Theunit can be easily configured for localor remote set-point control with a varietyof default options on loss of set-pointsignal. This provision gives the PMC-1an interface with programmable logiccontrollers (PLC's), DCS systems orany other remote set point source.

Sets Directly, In Absolute Digital UnitsThe LCD readout on the PMC-1 indi-cates process variables, expressed inwhatever units are being controlled.Examples include temperature in °F or°C, pressure in psi, kPa or bar, and flowrate expressed (however it makes themost sense to technicians). Tuning isaccomplished in three easy steps: thedesired set point is entered, the responsespeed is selected and the sensitivity isentered. That’s all there is to it.

A Well-Engineered Control SystemThat Users Can Adjust IntuitivelyThere are no subtle complicationsinvolved in adjusting a LESLIE PMC-1.The set point, response speed, sensi-tivity and display modes are all adjustedby clearly labeled controls. Direct orreverse action and local or remotecontrol can be selected by flippingswitches. Once this unit is on the job,it stays on the job, protected by a water-tight NEMA 4 enclosure.

Pneumatic Pilot ControllersLAP, LAPB, LAUP, LAUPB, LA, LAB, LAU and LAUBLeslie-Levelmatic Liquid Level Pilot Controllers

Leslie-Levelmatic pilot controllers usea simple, stable, floatless differentialpressure sensing principle. They requireonly two simple connections to thevessel (open or closed). Standard unitscome in two sensing ranges: 0 to 36inches and 0 to 200 inches(H20).

Normal operating pressure is 10-22 psi.Static pressure on the sensing diaphragmcan be anywhere within the range of30” Hg vacuum to 300 psig. Optionsinclude fixed or proportional band.

PRA, PRAP, PDA, PDAP, PRQ and PDQConstant Pressure Pilot ControllersThese pilot controllers use an inher-ently stable force-balanced design and provide high speed response, exceptional reliability and high

output volume. Normal operatingpressure is 20 to 22 psig, maximumstatic pressure is 900 psig and theadjustable range is 13 psia to 800 psig.

BP, BPC, RTP and DTPConstant Temperature Pilot ControllersLeslie constant temperature pilotcontrollers deliver an air signal to acontrol valve or other control elementin response to a change in sensedtemperature. They are available with a bi-metallic thermal element or afactory-sealed liquid-filled bulb. Bothtypes are shock resistant, corrosionresistant and highly reliable.Liquid-filled thermo-element typesconvert temperature to a proportionalpneumatic signal which is used to oper-ate a control valve. These units are

available with adjustable proportionalband and optional calibrated dials inFahrenheit or Celsius. Sensing rangeis 20°F to 400°F (-7°C to 205°C).The bi-metallic sensing element typesare widely employed in heating orcooling service. Bi-metallic pilot con-trollers respond to minute changes insensed temperature and provide accur-ate stable control. They are unaffectedby moisture or oil in the air supply.Sensing range is 32°F to 600°F (0°C to 315°C).

Pressure Reducing ValvesLeslie Super G Series valves are quitesimply the best pressure reducing valveson the market. Available in versionssuitable for steam, air and gas pressureand temperature control, they combinethe simplicity of a self-contained regu-lator with the performance of moresophisticated control systems at a frac-tion of the cost. All Super G regulatorshave a very high rangeability (100:1 )with no maximum pressure drop orpressure ratio limitations, and are veryaccurate over their full flow range.

Simple and ReliableThere are only two moving parts in thevalve body, making for drasticallyreduced maintenance headaches. Themain control component is our exclu-sive Spiroflex® stainless steel diaphragmthat operates smoothly over the fullflow range and is capable of longertravel for high flow capacities. This is

a long-lasting diaphragm with minimalmaintenance characteristics. Anotherbenefit of the Spiroflex® diaphragm isthe ability to achieve total control witha minimum delta-p of 0.5 psi.

Maximum InterchangeabilityMany replacement parts are commonacross the line, thus reducing partsinventory cost. And those parts thatmight need inspection and replacementcan be serviced without removing thevalve from the line.

An Unusual Three-Year WarrantyLeslie Class GPK, GPB, and GPKP-1pressure reducing valves, when installedand operated in accordance with ourinstructions, will be repaired or replacedfree of charge if a failure should occurwithin three years from our shippingdate. (We cannot be responsible for spe-cial or consequential costs or damages.)

Leslie GP Series valves are air-loadedversions of the Super G Series valves. They provide all the advantages inher-ent in the Super G Series and allow setpoint changes in seconds with theadjustment of a simple air loader. These valves can be set remotely froman air loading panel. Combined with

the Leslie PMC-1 controller, the GPseries valve provides a temperaturecontrol loop with built-in cascadingaction for faster, more stable responseto load changes. The packless, self-contained design provides low hysteresisand inherently “leakless” performance.

GPK, GPB, GPS and GPSS Air-Loaded Pressure Reducing Valves

Leslie Series GPAK regulators are idealfor air, butane, CO, helium, methane, nitrogen, natural and other gases. Theprinciple of operation is the same as theGP Series, enhanced by several special

service features. The packless construc-tion and resilient trim give bubble-tightshutoff on gases. This minimizes costlywaste of industrial gases due to valveseat or packing leakage.

The Leslie GPS-1EP features the GPS-1regulator along with a VPS externalpilot. The pilots have inter-changeable

springs for 3-20, 5-50, 10-100 and 20-150 Psig pressure ranges.

GPS-1EP External Steam Piloted Pressure Reducing Valve

Leslie GPKP-1 valves feature a uniquepatented dual diaphragm sensingchamber that provides unparalleledcontrol, accuracy and stability in oneself-contained package. Large pilotclearances are far less subject tofouling problems, non-continuousbleed results in less direct carryover

through the pilot assembly, and theconstant-gain pilot makes for unmatchedperformance accuracy throughout theentire operating range. A single LeslieGPKP-1 can be used in many applica-tions where competitive designs mustuse multiple regulators in doublereduction and 1/3-2/3 installations.

GPKP-1 Steam-Piloted, Self-Contained Pressure Reducing Valves

Leslie Class VKP steam pressure reduc-ing valves use an adjustable, spring-controlled integral pilot valve to establisha pressure feedback loop which controlsthe main valve. This entirely mechanicalprinciple tends to keep systems in equi-librium within 90 percent of the setpoint.Inlet pressure capacity is available to amaximum of 250 psig and the reduced

outlet pressure range is 3 to 150 psig. The largest valve in this product familycan handle just under 50,000 pounds ofsaturated steam per hour.VKP bodies are cast iron, seatingmaterial is hardened stainless steel, and diaphragms are stainless steel.Interchangeable springs provide settingranges of 3-20 psig to 20-150 psig.

GTK, GTRK, GTB and GTS Eventemp Regulators for LargeVolume Heating or Cooling Applications

Leslie Eventemp temperature regula-tors use a self-contained, liquid-filledthermal system that is completely inde-pendent of external power sources suchas air or electricity. They use only theflowing medium as the means to oper-ate, resulting in lower initial cost andlower operating cost. These high gain regulators are espe-cially suited for storage-type heatingor cooling service, where they provideclose control of the cooling medium. They find widespread use in semi-instantaneous type coolers such as

compressors or engine water jackets, vat cooling, etc.All Leslie Eventemp regulators are avail-able with an optional calibrated dial (inyour choice of °F or °C) for quick, easyand dependable temperature settings. The dial eliminates waiting for equip-ment to heat up before the propersetting can be determined and avoidsoverheating due to “guess” setting. Itis suited for production line use wherefrequent readjustments are necessaryfor process work. The calibrated dialreplaces the standard adjusting sleeve.

Temperature Regulators

Leslie Series LTC Duo-Matic Regulatordesign combines both temperature andpressure regulation in a single, self-contained regulator. Ideal for bothinstantaneous and storage heatingwhere a maximum pressure limitationis mandatory and compressed air isnot available.

Because the Leslie Duo-Matic respondsto pressure changes as well as temper-ature changes, and because the twoparameters are interdependent, theseregulators actually anticipate a changein controlled temperature by sensinga pressure shift.

M Series Regulators For Small Flow Applications

The larger G Series regulatorsdescribed above are most useful instorage applications where on/offoperation is satisfactory. The M Seriesprovides a throttling function that isideal for instantaneous heating andcooling situations, and for applications

where over-range protection is desired. One additional feature is the ability tochange an M Series valve from a heat-ing regulator to a cooling regulatorwith a simple rotation of the regulatorbody. This feature is standard in sizes3/4 and l inch.

Steam-Water HeatersObvious though it seems, many facil-ities with steam-generating capabilityoverlook the economy and convenienceof using some of that steam to heatwater or other liquids.Leslie Constantemp® heaters use atightly-coiled circulating exchanger totransfer heat energy from the isolatedsteam flow to the desired liquid. Thesesystems can take advantage of very lowsteam pressures and can deliver liquidsat precisely defined temperatures.Leslie Constantemp® steam heaters areavailable in two steam inlet pressureranges: 2-15 or 15-200 psig. Heating isinstant on demand with capacities upto 7,200 gallons per hour. Temperaturevariation is a maximum of ±3°F. Thestandard coil material is copper butAdmiralty and cupro-nickel coils areavailable as special-service options.

The heart of the Leslie Constantemp®

steam water heater is the feedforwardblending device. The hot and cold waterblend ratio is accurately proportioned tomaintain the set temperature for all flowdemands. Water is blended instantly;automatically; with virtually no lag inresponse time.Should movement of the blending valvebe restricted by foreign matter carriedin the water flow a yielding springarrangement allows the diaphragm andstem to move up uncovering a heatdamper, the characterized blendingvalve. This damper allows more coldwater to enter the blended mix elim-inating the possibility of overheatingor scalding.Available sizes include 15, 30, 45, 60,75, 90, 105 and 120 GPM models withadjustable ranges from 105°F to 180°F.

Constantemp® Feedforward System

As installation costs increase and man-power availability decreases, it is moreimportant than ever to find the mosteconomical method of installing equip-ment. In most cases, installing yourselfwould cost less than hiring an outsidecontractor, if you have the manpower, the time, and the expertise. (Wheninstalling even the simplest piece ofequipment, it takes time to read theinstructions, determine the materialsneeded, purchase the materials, andcomplete the installation.)

The Skidded ConceptThe skidded Constantemp® water heatingsystem solves this problem by placingthe entire system complete with steamtraps, strainers, gauges and intercon-necting piping on a frame or skid.Connect the steam, water, and conden-sate piping, and the unit is ready to use.

All the guess work and preparation timeis eliminated, and Leslie assumes fullsystem responsibility. There is never aquestion as to pipe size, distance to thesteam reducing valve, or proper trapinstallation. All the work is done for youexcept the utility connections themselves. The standard package has everythingnecessary to operate the heater. Optionalequipment available includes recircu-lation pumps, pumping traps, steamreducing valves, and redundant safetyshutdown devices. All connections areflanged and are placed at the edge ofthe assembly. Even the largest unit willfit through a standard doorway. Or, wecan custom design a complete systemto suit your unique requirements.Everything you need to get yourself inhot water–FAST–engineered, manufac-tured, and assembled by the steammanagement experts at Leslie Controls.

The LES Series steam-fired water heateris a high quality system which providesan economical, high capacity outputusing steam or hot water as the heatingmedium. The LES Series water heateris designed to handle a broad range ofcapacities and is ideal for most domesticand process hot water applications.

Compact, Easy to InstallThe LES Series water heater is designedto fit in tight areas where space is at apremium and is narrow enough to fitthrough most doorways. Units areoffered in vertical or horizontal designs, the vertical requiring only 71⁄2 squarefeet (0.7 m2), the horizontal only 15square feet (1.4 m2). The LES Serieswater heater is a completely pre-pipedsystem. All components are sized, mounted and piped prior to shipmentand require only hot and cold waterlines, connections of steam, condensateand electric.

Efficient DesignLES Series water heaters respond instant-ly to fluctuating demand, deliveringaccuracy to ±5°F (±2.8°C) of presettemperature and a maximum hot wateroutput of 330 GPM (1,249 LPM).The tank of the water heater is insulatedwith two inches of foam which helpsretain heat and reduce operating costs.

Safety EngineeredThe LES Series water heater has digitalelectronic temperature limit control withLCD readout and is field programmable. This safety system eliminates the possi-bility of overheating or getting livesteam. By utilizing an adjustable electricthermostat, the system is designed toclose the main control valve upon anover-temperature condition. If an over-temperature condition is detected, theelectric thermostat sends a signal tothe valve, thereby closing it.An optional double safety system isavailable. This system features a doublesolenoid system which, in addition toclosing the main valve, opens a solenoidvalve at the top of the vessel allowingthe over heated water to drain out ofthe vessel. Both the standard safety system andthe double-solenoid system require a120 volt, 5 amp circuit to operate.

QualityThe LES Series water heater is designedwith quality in mind. ASME Code stamp-ing and registration offers the assuranceof quality controlled construction. Thepackaged water heater is constructedwith a virtually rustproof 316L stainlesssteel tank and pre-threaded pipe connec-tions. A 20 gauge steel jacket protectsthe insulation and its hammertoneenamel painted exterior provides aneat, finished appearance.

A gas or steam powered condensatepump is available as part of any SkiddedHeater System. Where electricity is notavailable or condensate head is greaterthan steam pressure to the heater, thecondensate pump can be used toremove condensate.

As the condensate pump tank is filledwith condensate, the inlet is closed andhigh pressure steam or gas enters thechamber, forcing the condensate out.Condensate pumps are available on allsize Skidded Heater Systems.

Fabrication, Service & RepairSteam is tough on regula-tors and controls. The com-bination of high temper-atures, high velocity fluidstreams and occasionalcontaminants makes for afinite service life, afterwhich the product shouldbe disassembled, cleaned, checked for surface qualityand critical dimensions, reassembled with requirednew OEM manufacturedparts, and fully tested forthe service in which it isinstalled. Many machine shops andrepair facilities will attemptto service steam regulatorsand control valves. Unfor-tunately, not all of thoseshops are capable of return-ing a given component tofull factory specifications.Circor International oper-ates three service centers

(New Jersey, Virginia and Florida)where valves of many major manu-facturers are returned to originalfactory specifications and given anew service warranty at a fractionof the original purchase cost.We also have an internationalnetwork of Leslie licensed andtrained “Red Seal” ServiceCenters capable of performingthe same quality of work asour service centers.

Circor Service Centers are also author-ized to service valves manufactured byK&M, R.G. Laurence, CPC-Cryolab,Spence Engineering, Nicholson, KF,Circle Seal, SSI Equipment, Hoke,Aerodyne Controls, SKVC, Watts ACV,Go Regulator, Pibiviesse, Telford, Chas.M. Bailey, and Contromatics. In additionto handling factory repairs, each servicecenter has available factory trained FieldService Technicians to provide on-siterepairs for equipment which cannot bereadily removed from the system.Another service provided at the CircorService Centers is panel board fabri-cation. Whenever it is not practical toassemble components on-site, ourexperts can design, build, and ship ordeliver and install a unit customized tosuit your needs.Service is a fundamental part of theLeslie operating philosophy and weurge you to request additional docu-mentation and descriptive material.
