Which parts of the course are under controlled conditions? Both elements of the two controlled assessments are under controlled conditions for the practical exam. Pupils will have time to prepare for
the cooking element during practical lessons.
How many hours are devoted to each task? We give 10 hours for task one and 20 hours for task two. This includes
the planning, cooking and evaluation of the tasks.
When will these take place within the year? For the Food investigation (Task 1), one task is to be selected from the
three tasks set by AQA issued on 1 September of year 11. For the Food preparation assessment, (Task 2), one task is to be selected
from the three tasks set by AQA issued on 1 November of year 11.

There are 40 medium controlled hours allocated to the GCSE ICT CA project.
When will these take place within the year? These hours take place in Y10 during normal lesson times. Pupils are prepared for the CA
task then will work independently in a specified CA lesson that counts towards the 40 allocated hours.
