COMPUTER SCIENCE – Year 11

Which parts of the course are under controlled conditions? The J276 programming project will be completed under controlled

conditions and is an independent piece of work. How many hours are devoted to each task?

J276 Programming Project – 20 hours of controlled supervision during lesson times.

When will these take place within the year? All pupils will complete the J276 programming project after October half

term during lesson time (1 lesson per week until completion – Easter holidays).

What percentage of the course are these aspects worth? The NEA does not contribute to the overall final GCSE grade, however it

does put the theory aspects for component 2 into a more practical context.

Any other relevant information? Pupils who are absent from any NEA lessons will have to reschedule that time after school or at lunchtime to be arranged with the class teacher.

DANCE – Year 10

Which parts of the course are under controlled conditions? Component 1: Solo Performance of the Set Phrases

How many hours are devoted to each task? One half term per set phrase (2 in total)

When will these take place within the year? Year 11: December (Performed individually to camera)

What percentage of the course are these aspects worth? Component 1: Performance of the Set Phrases 15%

Any other relevant information? Intervention sessions with teacher support are vital. There is a

requirement to attend 3 intervention sessions/ Rehearsals per half term in order to develop bodily skill and memory. These run weekly

on Wednesdays 3-4.30pm or there are techniques classes at the same time every Tuesday to aid physical skill development. Pupils *are* still permitted to practice/work on ideas for all pieces at home, outside of

the controlled hours.

DANCE – Year 11

ICT – Year 10

Which parts of the course are under controlled conditions? The Cambridge Nationals in Creative iMedia CA is completed under medium controlled conditions. There are elements of group work,

peer feedback and research; however, each CA project is an independent piece of work. Pupils will complete three separate CA

projects on three different areas of ICT. How many hours are devoted to each task?

There are 90 guided learning hours allocated to the Creative iMedia CA projects – 30 hours per project.

When will these take place within the year? These hours take place in Y10 and Y11 during normal lesson times.

Pupils are prepared for the CA task(s) then will work independently in a specified CA lesson that counts towards the 90 allocated hours.

What percentage of the course are these aspects worth? The CA project(s) are worth 75% of the overall ICT grade.

Any other relevant information? All CA project work will be completed in both Y10 and in Y11.

Pupils are strongly advised to attend the KS4 ICT workshop(s) on Wednesday/Thursday after school in room 15 if they feel that they

Intervention sessions with teacher support are vital. BTEC Year 11 – After school rehearsals BTEC Year 10 – Wednesday BTEC club

Lessons are consistently videoed/ observed/ assessed to send to the external moderator after internal assessments.

Component 3 is completed in Year 11. It is an external unit. The pupils have an exam paper stimulus, create a performance piece in either Drama, Dance or Musical Theatre and the video is sent to the exam

board for assessment.

On-going practical assessment. Students are required to be assessed in three different activities

Any other relevant information? Of the three activities, one of these assessments must be in a team activity, one assessment must be in an individual activity, with the

third assessment being in either a team or individual activity.

GCSE PHYSICAL EDUCATION – Year 11

Which parts of the course are under controlled conditions? Ongoing practical activities (Students assessed in three different

activities) but also a written piece of work on ‘Performance Analysis’ which includes analysis and evaluation of a sports performance.

How many hours are devoted to each task? Practical Assessments – 1 hr per week until April

Analysis and Evaluation – 1hr per week for 3 weeks When will these take place within the year?

Practical Assessments – All Year until April Analysis and Evaluation – Autumn Term

What percentage of the course are these aspects worth? 3 Sports worth 30% / Performance Analysis 10%

Any other relevant information? Students are required to analyse and evaluate a performance to identify two strengths and two weaknesses. They then need to

produce an action plan that suggests ways to improve upon the two weaknesses that they have identified as part of their analysis.
