General e ET4 controller is a simple but yet intelligent controller, able to perform all the common firing curves you might need when producing glass and ceram- ics. e conroller is small (120x65x65 mm) and has a low weight (550g) which makes it very comfortable to hold in your hand during the progamming. ET4 with a Multi stick and a 1,5 m (4,9 ſt) long Multi cable, making it easy to connect to the kiln and possible for wall mount. ET4 is IP54-classified and therefore durable against dust and minour water splashes / moisture. Ability to store 4 programs with each up to 15 segments and a special “Set-program”. Suitable for controlling both glass- and ceramic firing curves. ET4 can controll heat up speed, soak and controlled cooling ramp. Possibility to set the starting point for a program (option). Main display normally displays the actual kiln temperature. During configuration it will display the setpoint value, no. of segments or other values (temp, rate, dwell etc.)

Secondary display: shows the number of segments in progress or the number of segments being programmed.

Led 1: is ON when the operator is entering a temperature.

Led 2: is ON when the operator enters a time value for each segment of a program.

Led 3: flashes when the control output is on during a firing cycle

Scroll key: Scroll throug the parameters during configuration.Scroll through the segments within the selected program.

The 15 segments are numbered from 1 to F. The segments after segment no. 9 are named: A b c d E F

Connecting the ET4 controller to the kiln is very easy with the multiplug. Simply put the multiplug in the receptacle, (female plug) and the controller is ready for use.

The temperature in the room in which the controller is installed must not exceed 35°C or below 5°C. In case of any errors, the controller will buzz.See the chaper: ”Fault displays”.

The Cerama ET4 controller can store up to 4 completely configurable programs, each consisting of max. 15 segments. Each segment consists of a TEMPERATURE & TIME.

The segments in the ET4 are structured like this:

Temperature increase: If you wish to increase a temperature with i.e. 100°C per hour up to 1000°C, You start by setting the temperature (in this case 1000°C) and after that you set the total time. With a heat up speed of 100°C per hour, the total time up to 1000°C will take 10 hours.

Soak:If you wish to hold the temperture for i.e. 30 minutes at 1000°C, you start by setting the temperature (in this case 1000°C) and after that the time you want the controller to hold the temperature, in this case 0.30 hours (30 min).

Controlled cooling:If you need a controlled cooling with i.e. 50°C / h, from 1000°C to 500°C, you start by setting the low temperature (in this case 500°C) and after that the total timefor cooling down to 500°C, in this case 10.00 hours.

Important! If the main display is showing i.e.

01.13 it means

1 hour + 13 minutes (73 min), NOT 113 minutes.

Below we show you how to start a stored program and in this case we use the example from the previous page (program no. 2).

Mode: Make sure the controller is in STOP - mode before doing the follwing:

Jump to the next segment during the programe cycle by pressing the ”Step key” for a few seconds, and the controller jumps to the next segment in the program cycle (even if it is running).

Skip / Jump between different segments

Press the ”program key” for approx. 3 sec. The controller will hold the temperature currently visualized in the display. The display will alter- nately showing the temperature value and ”hold”. The function can be interrupted by pressing the ”program key” again for a few seconds.

Pause a program

Press the ”arrow up key” one time to display the setpoint value. Then press once more to change this value.

After a few seconds, the display will revert to the actual temp- erature. The new setpoint value is automatically stored.

Changing the setpoint value during a firing

When all the set points (times and temperatures) have the desired values and you wish to end the program cycle, simply set the last temperature set ppoit to 0. The display shows ”End”.

To set the maximum heat up speed, press ”arrow down key” until the temperature is down to 0.00 min. JuMP is displayed.

A Set-program is a simple program which heats up the kiln with full power.Start position: The Set-Programe starts from the STOP - mode.

Start a Set-programPress the ”Program key” until ”tErN” shows in the main display.

2 Press the Start/Stop-button (a beep sound is activated). The actual temperature of the kiln is shown. LED starts to flash. Control output is active.

Press ”arrow up or down key”.Display shows temperature setting. Increace or decrease the value.

This is a special function for optimizing the parameters in the ET4 controller and adjust the controller to the connected kiln. This is normally not neccessary when you buy a kiln and controller from us since this is already done by our Kiln Service technicians before the delivery. Cebex recommend you to contact us before you start the autotuning program.

In case the controller does not work properly, the controller stops the activated program, display an error code and activate the internal buzzer. To stop the buzzer press any key. See table below for description of fault messages.

Error Cause Remedy

E-01 Mistake in programming E2 PROM Contact technical service

E-02 Cold link failed or room temperature out of limits.

If the room temperature is under 5°C this error can accure

E-03 Wrong cycle data.(if a program starts with ”END”). Program a new cycle

E-04 Parameter error. check and/or reconfigure the parameters

E-05 Thermocouple circuit defect. Check sensors wiring

E-06 ADC convercion out of range. Contact technical service

E-07 Second relay is programmed to control the safety contactor.

Check the operation of the relay and/or of contactor. The maximum programmed temperature has been exceeded
