DescriptionHuman papillomavirus (HPV) is responsible for a subset of head and neck cancers which have distinct epidemiological, molecular, pathological and clinical features. The knowledge base in this multidisciplinary field is quickly developing. Commensurate with the rapid pace of advancements in the field, additional clinical management questions arise. The goal of this activity is to discuss the current controversies in the diagnosis, work-up, and treatment strategies.
ObjectivesAfter attending this activity, the participant will demonstrate the ability to:
Describe the changing trends and new risk factors associated with the development of head and neck cancer.
Explain diagnostic tests utilized to diagnose HPV-associated head and neck cancers.
Discuss the novel treatment strategies, both surgical and non-surgical, which are being developed to target the unique biology of these cancers.
Recognize the specific rehabilitation needs of oropharyngeal cancer patients.
Who Should AttendThis activity is intended for both a national and international audience comprised of academic and community head and neck surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, oral and maxillofacial surgeons, dentists, nurse practitioners, nurses, physician assistants, and speech language pathologists.
Accreditation StatementThe Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.

Late Fee and Refund PolicyA $50 late fee applies to registrations received after 5:00 p.m. EST on October 19, 2013. A handling fee of $50 will be deducted for cancellation. An additional fee may apply for cancellation of other events, including workshops and social activities. Refund requests must be received by fax or mail by October 19, 2013. No refunds will be made thereafter. Transfer of registration to another Johns Hopkins conference in lieu of cancellation is not possible.
