Cleaning Services
Conventional or non-entry tanks,
whatever the contents, Mantank has the expertise
to clean them.
Our professional project planning team
will formulate the best strategy with you
to minimise down time and maximise cost
savings. Whether you wish to change the
tank contents or inspect the tank as part of
an insurance requirement, Mantank offer
a complete solution from cleaning, non-
destructive testing and cold cutting.
Tank cleaning often requires our personnel
to enter tanks or vessels, even if the
contents are extremely flammable on
contact with oxygen and/or occupy
confined spaces. Mantank has experience
and expertise in all situations. Our project
planners are capable of managing complex
jobs which may include positive pressure
oxygen free tents or highly corrosive
or flammable substances. With the
petrochemical and chemical industries as
our principle clients our experience is both
detailed and comprehensive.
Industrial Tank Cleaning is a core business within Mantank’s industrial cleaning services due to the size of our operations and the complexity of the tanks we clean.
Upon request Mantank can provide
all the documentation such as confined
space permits and permits to work,
as well as completing all tests for
contaminants and stringently monitoring
all work in progress. Mantank will
always promote safe working practices
and will examine methods of cleaning
tanks remotely before using man entry
techniques. However, when
required, all man entry is carried
out under strict confined space
regulations using the latest safety
equipment and breathing apparatus.

High Pressure, Ultra High Pressure & Cold Cutting
Mantank utilises two basic water jetting
techniques: (HP) high pressure and high flow and
(UHP) ultra high pressure and low volume. These
two techniques form the basis for a number of
applications that provide cost effective, practical,
low impact and environmentally sound options for
cleaning a diverse range of surfaces and vessels.
Cold cutting is a process also offered and is
discussed further below.
High Pressure Water JettingWater jetting facilitates the removal of surface
coatings and build-up that would normally have to
be removed by chemical or mechanical methods
thus reducing the need to enter confined spaces
and work with hazardous materials. Mantank is a
member of the Water Jetting Association and our
employees are highly trained and experienced.
Ultra High Pressure Water JettingThe introduction of ultra high pressure (UHP) water
jetting has increased the types of work that can
be carried out successfully using the water jetting
method. UHP works at pressures up to 60,000 psi
(4000 bar) and speeds of Mach 1.5 and requires
specialist knowledge and experience to harness its
full potential. Our bespoke solutions have solved
problems such as removing hazardous chemical
waste from inside silos and concrete from drains.

Vacuumation
From Heavy Sludge To Dry Powder
In conjunction with our fleet of haulage
& waste disposal liquid ring tankers and
skips we can deal quickly with emergencies
requirements. If it is a spillage being dealt
with, our mobile vacuumation unit pictured
can vacuum up spilt product from the floor
and blow it back into a silo or be used in
conjunction with a bagging hopper.
For more specialist jobs, Mantank’s
personnel are fully trained in the use of
access equipment for the cleaning of
all high level areas. This includes but is
not limited to wet and dry vacuuming
technology or damp wiping, solving most
high level cleaning tasks.
Liquid Ring Tankers: Heavy Sludge Removal
Mantank’s liquid ring vacuumation units
are rigid vacuum tankers fitted with high
performance liquid ring vacuum pumps.
These tankers are ideal for uplifting liquids
and heavy sludge materials. Due to the
high performance of the pump such
materials can be loaded from depth and
drawn long distances. The tankers have
Hazchem marker boards, safety equipment
and are suitable for carrying hazardous
wastes.
Liquid ring vacuumation units, are very
efficient at dealing with the heavier
more difficult work, but operate equally
well on the more straightforward tasks
such as cleaning interceptors or bund
areas.

DISAB Dry Vacuumation: High Airflow Equipment
This method of vacuumation is used for
the uplifting and handling of dry materials
including carbons, cement, sand, gravel,
perlite, grain and many more dry/dusty
materials. The dry materials can be recovered
from almost any situation including carbon
filter vessels, hoppers, pits, silos, tanks,
tankers or loose on the ground.
Mantank’s most recent addition to the dry
vacuumation fleet is an articulated unit
pictured. Employed as a separate unit it can
uplift spilt product from the floor and blow
it back into a silo. This unit can be used
by branching one suction hose with other
smaller hoses allowing several operatives to
vacuum large dusty areas.
Using the unit in conjunction with a bagging
hopper the dry material being uplifted
will be deposited into the bagging hopper
then transferred into one tonne euro bags.
Using the unit in conjunction with a vacuum
skip the dry material being uplifted can be
deposited into the skip until full, when it will
be replaced with an empty skip. In both cases
this would allow more basic transport to be
used to transfer the material and leave
the vacuumation equipment free to do
the specialist work.

Press Hire.
Dewatering and Waste reduction forms a core
element of Mantank’s workload with cost
benefits clear to both our customers and the
environment. Mantank utilises both filter press
technology (where the liquids and solids are
separated in a large press) and centrifuges
(where they are spun apart). Our mobile units
are situated both throughout the UK and
internationally and when required can be in situ
for long periods of time.
Mantank offers a full range of services from full
contractor dewatering management to filter
press hire. With the hire of filter press units we
can provide relevant training to your in-house
staff or provide an operator as required. We
have a small mobile lab for pre-project planning
and can then work with you to provide the most
cost effective solution for your business.
Whatever you decide, our project managers will
work with you to find the most cost effective
solutions to your dewatering requirements with
minimal impact on your daily business.

Dewatering & Filter Press Services:Economic & Environmental Sense
Dewatering with the modern day Filter Press
is the process of removing the solids from
any sludge by pressing out the water; the
outcome of which is a dry filter cake. The
filtrate (liquid) can then either be re-used
on-site or disposed of as effluent. This will
significantly reduce the amount of waste
to be disposed of, dramatically reducing
disposal costs from both haulage and landfill.
A normal dewatering example would be
a customer who has 100 tons of slurry to
dispose of, off site, of which only 10% may
be solid material with the remaining 90%
filtrate. With the use of mobile dewatering
equipment 90tons of filtrate can be recycled
back to the plant, rather than transporting
100 tonnes of liquid off site. The alternative
to dewatering is where liquid waste is
disposed of in liquid form by mobile tankers
for disposal either to a treatment centre or
suitable landfill site. Dewatering clearly offers
a more environmentally sensitive solution
with the bonus of being cost effective.
Filter Press: Pre-Process to DewateringThe process of dewatering begins when
an expert from Mantank will visit the
clients site to carry out a site survey. A
sample of the liquid waste will be taken
and tested to ensure the waste can
be filtered and determine the correct
disposal method. It will also determine
the quality of the filtrate and dryness of
solid filter cake.
This process can be carried out in our
laboratory or at your premises using
our mobile test filter press. Once this
has been completed calculations can be
made and a full proposal submitted to
you, the client.
Please contact us regarding all aspects
of dewatering with Mantank whether
it be filter presses, sludge
removal, lagoon cleaning
and/or waste reduction
related processes.
