Conventions:

Title in a bold font which stands out in order to attract the audiences attention. As it is in a different font style to the rest of the text this therefore makes it more noticeable. It is conventionally either in the top third of the page or the bottom third such as on the Insidious poster.

A tag line above the title gives more information to what the film will be like as it mentions what other films the producers have made. This is conventional on a horror film poster as can be seen on the Insidious poster – see image.

There is one main image which takes up the whole poster and is of the antagonist within the film. It is in the setting of the film which helps the viewer relate the film poster to the film. The picture is in a black and white filter in order to make the scene look more eerie. All of these are conventional for a horror film poster and the genre as in the Insidious poster there is a picture of the main character in the film which has been edited to make him look as though he has no eyes which is scary and he is also in front of the house which is the main setting of the film.

I have used a tag line on my film poster which relates to the film as it is called the woods. This is conventional for the film poster as they are frequently used on real posters to try and entice the audience into going to watch the film.

The colour scheme of the fonts is simple in white and red in order to make the image the main focus of the poster. This is conventional for film posters as the image is the main aspect of the poster so the font needs to be minimalistic.

At the bottom of the poster is the filming credits which give information about the producers, actors, film companies and directors that help to make the film. or a film poster as at the bottom this is always included, which makes my product more realistic.
