OVERVIEW OF THE PROGRAM

The UCA interdisciplinary PhD in Leadership Studies (LEAD) is focused on creating capacities of positive social change through leadership research and action.

LEAD students come from a variety of sectors, including nonprofit, government, and public (e.g., community development, arts, education, and public health). They enter through a cohort model and attend on a full-time (9 credit hours) or part-time (6 credit hours) basis. Research-productive LEAD faculty guide students in leadership studies-rich curriculum, discussions, and community-based research projects. Together faculty and students explore how leadership geared toward social change leverages human and community development, in order to influence well-being and justice for all. LEAD graduates are prepared to produce and use leadership research to transform organizations and communities.
