URL “Uniform Resource Locator”, or the web
browser address of an internet page or file.
Keywords A search term or phrase used to locate a
document, 1-5 words in length.
Cloud-based Software that is web-based, rather than
directly installed on your computer.
App Small software applications designed to be
smaller than regular software, but provide
very functional uses. Popular with mobile
devices (ie: iPhone, Android)
and
Boolean An online search that allows you to
combine words and phrases using the
words AND, OR, NOT and NEAR to limit,
widen, or define your search.
Relevancy Rankings A search engine will list search results
according to how closely they think the
results match the query. (Not always
effective due to search engine technology
and human searching
technique…computers don’t always
understand what humans are saying!)

Be prepared to present your findings to the group!

• Purchasing a new pair of running shoes
• Where to vacation with young children
• Current trade-in value for your car
