YOUTH COMMUNICATION ACTION PLAN

Uniting some thirty local organizations, the Table jeunesse socioé-conomique Memphrémagog youth group hopes to reach out to asmany 12-to-25-year-olds as possible to tell them about all the servicesand activities that are available to them.

This project is intended to encourage young people to become moreinvolved in their community and in the decisions and actions taken bythe members of Table jeunesse, to guide them in their educationaland professional paths, and promote a healthy lifestyle.

So far, a dynamic interactive Web site has been created andlaunched, with contests, career chat sessions, surveys on the Table je-unesse’s activities, study tips and tricks, links to partners and a hostof other interesting information.

Cooperation Week

ACTION-BASED TRAINING ON THE COOPERATIVE DIFFERENCE

In October 2008, a group of members, employees and officers wereinvited to a forum on cooperation. As a result, they were better ableto understand the cooperative difference and, as newly minted know-ledge leaders, consulted with their peers about what the caisse coulddo to strengthen its cooperative practices. The event demonstrated that, first and foremost, consistency and com-munication will guide our business practices in the future.

REGIONAL MARKET FOR SOLIDARITY

The Marché de solidarité régionale is a project founded by theMagog chapter of the AmiEs de la Terre environmental group. TheMarché Web site not only allows consumers to order locally-madeand/or organic products online (see www.atmagog.org [in French]),it also lets producers and vendors list the products they wish to sell.

The market is run by volunteers. The prices are in line with those theconsumer would find in a grocery store, but which would have tra-velled hundreds, if not thousands of kilometres to get there.

This grassroots business contributes to developing and stabilizing thelocal economy. Thanks to its administrative flexibility, this ventureserves the community while creating participatory jobs. Shop for your groceries at www.atmagog.org today!
