● Highest Latino student enrollment number in the State of Utah as a four-year higher education institution. Increased Latino student enrollment by 286% (Fall 2007=1,066 students & Fall 2017=4,112 students) and Latino student graduation headcount by 212% (2007-2008=116 & 2016-2017=362).

● Raised a total amount of $194,775.00 in grant funding and over $135,000.00 in departmental and privately funded scholarships since 2009.

● Worked with approximately 4,500 students and parents in an academic year. ● Developed a strong social media platform for the Latino Initiative. ● Assisted in coordinating Latino-focused summer bridge programming for high school

students: Latino Scientists of Tomorrow, Hospitality Leaders of Tomorrow, Latino

● Oversee the development and implementation of outreach and retention UVU Latino Initiative programs.

● Administer the Latino Initiative budget and the Latino Scholarship Fund. ● Seek grant and private funding opportunities to increase Latino Initiative’s

programs and student scholarships. ● Manage Latino marketing efforts to increase the number of Latino students at UVU. ● Coordinate with local school administrators to increase Latino student access and to

create partnerships and programs. ● Collaborate with academic departments in creating, coordinating, and maintaining

summer bridge opportunities for Latino high school students. ● Facilitate the creation of partnerships on the UVU campus, community

organizations, and other Colleges/Universities in the State of Utah to increase opportunities for prospective and current Latino students.

● Create on campus, community, and school district partnerships to foster opportunities for Latino students to enroll and graduate from Utah Valley University.

● Serve as the UVU representative on the USHE undocumented student task force to lower barriers for undocumented students to navigate the Utah educational system.

● Prepare reports and deliver presentations on best practices for Latino student outreach and retention.

● Assist as a team member other Multicultural Student Services, LGBT Student Services, International Student Services, and Center for Global and Intercultural Engagement with student presentations, student support, event planning, and event logistics as needed.

2009-2014 Co-Chaired the Latinos in Action Conference at Utah Valley University. Planned, coordinated a one-day conference for 2,000 Latino students who represented 63 Utah middle, junior high, and high schools. Led UVU’s planning committee and worked with the LIA organization as well as with other community partners.

2008-2010 Utah Valley University, Office of Student Success and Retention

Worked with UVU Advisors/Counselors to create a list of triggers and interventions to identify and help at-risk students through an Early Alert System. Helped develop a system in Banner that automatically assigned students to an advisor upon admissions based on their major.

2009 Utah Valley University, Office of Student Success and Retention

Proposed and helped developed a UVU Advisor Assignment System to automatically assign students to their specific academic major’s advisor at the point of admissions.

2005 Developed an Academic Log in FileMaker to keep track of students in

the Emergency Services Program. 2004 Prepared the Fire Science self-study for the Northwest Association of

Accredited Schools’ visit. Accreditation was approved. 2003 Prepared a self-study to obtain accreditation for all of our certificates

and degrees programs for the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC). Accreditation was approved.
